Chopper · alive · Drum Kingdom · future Straw Hat ship’s doctor
Profile
A small reindeer with a blue nose, antlers, and a pink top hat marked with a white X-cross, introduced in Ch. 134 as Dr. Kureha’s beloved reindeer (editorial caption, p. 14: “TONY TONY CHOPPER — DR. KUREHA’S BELOVED REINDEER”). He accompanies Dr. Kureha and does not speak in this chapter. Drum Island townsfolk recoil from him as “a baby monster” (p. 18) — the not-human, not-animal liminal framing. The X-cross hat-emblem is a medical-cross motif foreshadowing his doctor identity. Forward-canon: Chopper is a Devil Fruit user and will become the sixth Straw Hat and the crew’s ship’s doctor.

- Appears in a mindless, berserk monster form rampaging through the tower interior (no dialogue — only “GROAR”); no longer recognizes Nami despite her pleas (“It’s me, Nami!!”), identified only by his hat and the X-mark, smashing walls and crashing downstairs toward Sanji (pp. 2-9). Power-tier escalation beyond the Rumble-Ball limit; the official “Monster Point” name is NOT given on-page this chapter. Cross-link Nami, Sanji, Chopper Seven-Form Zoan Breaks Three-Stage Limit, Rumble Ball Three-Minute Transformation-Modifier Drug Debut.
Enies Lobby (Ch. 410 — “Super-Size Nami”) — Attack-naming gag; ends the chapter as a giant out-of-control monster
- Mid-island, snaps at Zoro and the masked Sogeking over their attack-naming bickering: “This is no time to be thinking up good names!! CHOPPER!!” (p. 6).
- Ends the chapter as a colossal, antlered, fanged, out-of-control MONSTER (the overdose form from Ch. 407) that smashes through a wall into Kalifa’s room roaring “GROAR!!!” (pp. 19-20) — a huge rampaging transformation beyond his ordinary Rumble-Ball points; the onlookers misread it as Nami having “super sized.” Cross-link Nami, Kalifa, Zoro, Hito Hito no Mi, Chopper Seven-Form Zoan Breaks Three-Stage Limit.
Enies Lobby (Ch. 408 — “Monster vs. Kumadori”) — the rampaging monster finishes Kumadori

Smashes Kumadori of CP9 (the chapter title is “Monster vs. Kumadori”). Bystanders recognize the figure only by his hat (“That hat… I’ve seen it before! That deer was wearing it!”, p. 14) — referred to as “that deer gorilla.” Berserk, attacking indiscriminately (“Now… now… now… die!!!”). Cross-link Kumadori, CP9, Enies Lobby.

(On-page term is “monster”; “Monster Point”/awakening is NOT named here —

- Chained to Zoro and Usopp (Sogeking), fights Kumadori. Recognizes Life Return as “bio-feedback” he read about in a book (p. 12). His tactical monologue states the full Rumble Ball doctrine for the first time: usable “only once every six hours at most,” any more “will take a huge toll on my body” — a 2nd same-day dose risks his power running out / being unable to fight, a 3rd makes transformations go “out of whack” and harder to control (p. 16); weighs Arm Point vs. Horn Point for the finisher. Uses “Iron Body” (Tekkai) and “Heavy Gong” (p. 15). After over-dosing the Rumble Ball his transformation goes out of control (“I couldn’t… control it after all”, pp. 18–19) — the cost-side payoff of the Drum-Island mechanic. Drives the trio’s urgency — find Key Number Two, free the cuffs, and save Robin (“They’re my last hope!!!”, pp. 8, 19). IT’S ALL OR NOTHING!! I HAVE TO TAKE A CHANCE!! THINK!! FIND A WAY TO BEAT THEM!!! Chopper invokes Brain Boost (Rumble-Ball-induced tactical mode) to compute the enemy’s weakness mid-fight. First on-page Chopper-uses-Rumble-Ball-as-tactical-mode beat — the Rumble-Ball’s seven-transformation mechanic (Ch. 0149) and Ch. 0184 Heavy-Point-three-minute-clock register are here operationalized into think-faster tactical Brain Boost that defines the forward-canon Brain Point register. Pre-loads the forward-canon Chopper-as-team-strategist arc (Skypiea, Enies Lobby, Punk Hazard). Cross-link Chopper Brain-Boost-Rumble-Ball Tactical-Thinking Combat-Sequence (new — load-bearing).

- Officer-Agent mutual Zoan-recognition beat (Ch. 184 pp. 7-8). Chopper recognizes Merry Christmas as a fellow Zoan: “ACK!! THE MOLE WOMAN!! SHE’S A MOLE!!” — Merry Christmas mirror-doubts back: “I’M HUMAN TOO!!! I’M ONLY HUMAN!!” (Zoan-identity beat — mirror of Chopper’s Drum Island I’m a monster self-doubt). - The X-mark hat-band is the operational counter-tell to the Mane Mane no Mi — Ch. 157 install (X-mark left-arm fellowship-sign) is now visually present on Chopper’s costume as a recognition-tell that distinguishes the real-Strawhats from any Bon-Clay-impersonations.

- Decoy-duty (Ch. 175 pp. 3, 7). “Chopper’s acting as a decoy?!” / “Yes. But don’t worry about him.” (Sanji to Vivi, p. 3). Chopper-in-small-walking-point-form (hat, X-cross, bandolier, hooves visible) walks Rainbase’s main streets as the pursuit-target while Sanji+Vivi run the side-route to the cage. First on-page Strawhat-as-decoy operational beat. The decoy-asset depends on Chopper’s don’t-take-this-Strawhat-seriously mismatch — small, animal, looks lost. Crocodile’s hunt-register (“Mr. Prince… I’ll find him…”, p. 7) is bypassing Chopper because Chopper doesn’t read as a threat. The Ch. 0149 crap-doctor mismatch is now operationalized as deception-asset.
- Cross-link Chopper Decoy Role Walking Point Marines-Pursuit Misdirection (new), Sanji (operational handler), Vivi (rescue-partner), Crocodile (intended-decoy-target).

Successfully draws Crocodile out of Rain Dinners on a wild goose chase (Sanji’s narration, p. 19); Robin: “All according to plan.”. First on-page Chopper-as-engineered-bait beat. The Heavy Point form (debuted Ch. 0149 in combat) is here re-keyed as decoy-form — large enough to attract a Warlord-tier pursuit, mobile enough to outrun a chasing Crocodile through Rainbase. Pre-loads forward-canon Strawhat coordinated multi-front operations (Enies Lobby, Marineford-assault, Onigashima). See Chopper Leads Crocodile On Wild Goose Chase Bait-And-Switch Tactic (new).

The Drum-arc recruitment is now complete and operational; he is a working Strawhat.
- LOAD-BEARING — Even princesses cry. — first on-page Chopper-as-emotional-empath beat (Ch. 166 p. 18). Mid-Vivi-tears, Chopper delivers the chapter’s emotional-empathy capstone (close-up, tearful eyes visible under X-cap). Establishes Chopper’s recurring role as the crew’s heart-on-sleeve voice — the one Strawhat whose emotional-affect register canonizes the chapter’s emotional through-line. - Conned by the Evil Herons — ‘I can’t help it!!! I was tricked!!’ (Ch. 162 pp. 8-9). Chopper’s doctor-instinct (Ch. 144 protects baby snowbirds) is now exploited by con-artist fauna — the ‘good ones’ register (Vivi p. 8) reframes Chopper’s compassion as an Alabasta-arc tactical-vulnerability.
- Camel-speech translation (Ch. 162 p. 15) — Chopper translates Eyelashes’ grumf-talk: ‘He says he was just passing through.’ / ‘He’s willing to give rides… but only to women.’ The Zoan-translation register first applied to a non-domesticated animal.

- First crew-tier Alabasta-arc inclusion (pp. 2-12) — Chopper is now operationally treated as a Strawhat by everyone on-deck (briefings, fist-bumps, wardrobe). The Ch. 153 I want to be a real Strawhat register pays off operationally here.
- Joins the X-mark / left-arm fellowship-sign (pp. 10-11) — Chopper’s X-marked left arm is rendered at center of the fist-bump composition. First crew-tier inclusion of Chopper in the Strawhat solidarity-emblem. Sits attentively through Vivi’s Baroque Works exposition (pp. 16, 18). Confirms Chopper has joined the crew on the voyage; he is now operationally a Straw Hat.
- Speaks no lines this chapter — listening, eating, observing. The Strawhat-recruit completion arc (Ch. 140-154) is now operational with Chopper aboard for the Alabasta arc-interior.

HOORAY!!!” The on-deck welcome-the-new-shipmate composition is the Straw Hat recruitment-acceptance visual grammar at its first canonical-frame deployment. I’m going off to sea!!” — the first on-page Chopper-spoken intent to take the Ch. 94 doctor-slot. The Ch. 140 recruitment-pitch declined beat is now structurally inverted; Chopper is the one asking permission. See Chopper Formal Ship Doctor Declaration.
- Master-debt invoked, then rejected (p. 5). Kureha: “And who was it that taught you medicine!? Don’t you have an ounce of gratitude in you!!? You’re my only assistant!!” Chopper: “O-of course I do!! I’m very grateful to you!! To you and to Dr. Hiriluk! And I love this place!” / Kureha: “Then stay here.” / Chopper: “I don’t care!!!” The apprentice accepts the debt but refuses the binding — the structural inversion of Disciple Bows To Master Farewell Composition where the disciple bows because of the debt.
- Kureha throws a knife/blade at Chopper (p. 6). KLANK!! KREESHU — “If you go, you’ll do it over my dead body!! …A crybaby like you, a man!!? Ha!! You’re not going anywhere!!!” The master physically refuses to release the apprentice; the apprentice obeys her earlier order (“go down and help haul out the cannons”) and flees toward the cannon-line.
- First on-page I’m a man, too identity-claim (p. 6). Chopper’s roar — “I’m a man, too!!!!” (DOXM!!) — is his first articulation of the am I a monster? am I a man? identity-axis that runs through the rest of his character. The Ch. 134 abominable snowman / monster exterior-judgment is here turned inward as a self-claim. See Chopper Im A Man Too Identity Claim.
- The Witch’s Sleigh full-moon silhouette splash (p. 10). Iconic full-page composition: tiny silhouette of Kureha’s reindeer-drawn sleigh streaking across an enormous full moon, snow-laden pine spires below. Pure Christmas-card iconography. Chopper drives in reindeer-form; Kureha stands in the sleigh. The visual install of the Kureha-as-Santa / Chopper-as-Rudolph register. See Witch Sleigh Moon Silhouette Splash.
- Cannon-salute as farewell-substitute (p. 13). Kureha (close-up, single-tear-streaked, smiling fang-toothed): “I don’t like… tearful farewells. …A send-off for a ship has to be done in grand style!!” The master refuses the bow-and-tears farewell and substitutes a 30-year-research cannon-barrage of Hiriluk’s Fairy Dust. First articulation of Kureha’s no-farewells register. See Kureha No Tearful Farewells Doctrine.
- Hiriluk-doctrine throwback (p. 13). Sobbing-Chopper to Kureha: “Doctor!! It wasn’t just a silly dream, was it? You really did achieve your goal, right? “Nothing is impossible for those who fly the flag of the crossbones!!”… Say it again, Doctor!!” — Chopper recalls Hiriluk’s exact Ch. 144 cure-reaction line: “This is it!!! The reaction I’ve been waiting 30 years for!!” The dialogue-from-dead-character beat is now also Chopper’s (he is speaking Hiriluk’s lines back into the world).
- Witnesses Kureha fire the red-powder cannon-barrage (pp. 14-18). The Drum Castle parapets fire Hiriluk’s red-powder cannonballs (BRUPEROOO!! BA-BA-BOOM!!); the cloud hangs in the air; “light up!!!” (p. 15) activates the bloom. Chopper sobs uncontrollably (“WAAAAAH!! UBB UBB UBB…”, p. 16) at what Kureha has done. The literal pink-snowfall bloom on the kingdom begins on the last page; forward-canon Ch. 154 completes it.
- Reindeer-form continuous use — Chopper pulls Kureha’s sleigh in his small four-legged form throughout the chapter (pp. 8-15). No transformation-techniques deployed.
Drum Island (Ch. 152) — heart-wound articulation; recruitment-pivot under the full moon and Hiriluk’s flag
- Present at Drum Castle alongside Dalton when the village delegation arrives (pp. 5-7). Dalton recognizes Chopper as the blue-nosed monster-of-folklore (“You’re…!!! That creature!!? The blue-nosed…”, p. 7-8) and publicly credits Chopper to the assembled villagers: “He… fought for us!!! Thank you! This land will be born again!!!” (pp. 8-9). First authority-figure rehabilitation of Chopper’s abominable snowman status before a Drum public.
- Villager fear-react breaks the rehabilitation (pp. 9-10). When Chopper enters the snowfield: “A-A-A monster!!!” / “A R-REINDEER!?” / “WH-WHAT IS THAT WEIRD CREATURE?” / “A MONSTER!!!!”. Luffy: “LEAVE HIM ALONE!!”. Chopper bolts (PLOINK!! / WAAAH…). Dalton scolds the villagers (GUH-GUH-GULP!!!! / NOW YOU SCARED HIM OFF!!). The heart-wound is reinforced in the same chapter Dalton tries to heal it.
- First on-page heart-wound articulation in Chopper’s own voice (pp. 17-18). “And a blue nose!!! I have antlers!! And hooves!!! But…I’m a reindeer!!!” / “I’m a monster!!!” / “I can never be part of your group!!!” / “But I’m not human like you are!!”. Kureha named the wound in Ch. 140 (“a deep wound in his heart… that not even a doctor can heal”); Chopper now articulates it himself. Pays off Chopper Heart Wound A Doctor Cannot Heal Doctrine on the patient-articulation axis. See Chopper First-Person Heart-Wound Articulation Recruitment Pivot.
- Recruitment-acceptance commitment (p. 18). Nami’s “Well… Can you heal his heart?” directed at Sanji under the silhouetted pirate-flag, followed by Chopper’s interior-articulated “Of course I want to be a pirate!!” — the chapter’s recruitment-pivot. Luffy’s “I’m bringing him with us!! Yeah… against his will!!!” (p. 16) + Chopper’s “Of course I want” (p. 18) under Hiriluk’s flag = the recruitment-impasse breaks. Formal join deferred to Ch. 153.
- Tearful gratitude / farewell-tableau (p. 18). “I’m going to stay here. But please… thank you… for asking me.” / “But I wanted to thank you!!!”. Sanji: “Come back some-day… when you feel like it.”. The crew turns away; chapter ends on Chopper bowing in the snow under the full moon with Hiriluk’s flag flying above the castle.
- First lunar-cycle iconography in Chopper’s arc (pp. 16-17). The full moon rising over the snowscape paces the recruitment-pivot beat. Reindeer-species iconography is inherently lunar; the title-image is a forward-tell of Chopper’s later transformation register. See Full Moon Lunar Cycle Motif Recruitment Pivot.
Drum Island (Ch. 151) — releases the Gum-Gum Bowgun; doctor-and-warrior on the castle peak
- Reacts to the Drum-Castle distant explosion (p. 9, ”…!!!”): Chopper’s wide-eyed !!! matches the KA-BOOM off-castle blast as he watches with the rest of the party from below.
- Releases the Gum-Gum Bowgun line (p. 17). Chopper holds the bowstring of Luffy’s stretched body across the castle precinct; on Luffy’s “WAIT!” / “NOW!” cue, Chopper releases. Luffy is launched skyward as Gum-Gum Bowgun (WOOINGG). First on-page Chopper-as-combat-anchor for a Luffy ranged attack — the two future-Straw-Hats functioning as a paired-combat unit.
- Stands beside Luffy at the castle peak through the don’t ever touch the skull and crossbones speech (pp. 16-17): the Hiriluk-inheritance flag-doctrine Chopper articulated in Ch. 148 (“FAITH!!!”) is now spoken by Luffy in Chopper’s presence. The Hiriluk-Chopper-Luffy flag-doctrine inheritance chain is now structurally complete: Hiriluk → Chopper → Luffy. See Skull And Crossbones Symbol Of Faith Don’t Touch It Doctrine.
Drum Island (Ch. 150) — second on-page appearance, silent observer at Drum Castle
- Second on-page appearance — silent reindeer-form observer at Drum Castle (pp. 2-3). Watches Wapol’s arrival alongside off-panel Dr. Kureha; speaks no lines (”…”). Confirms Chopper lives at Drum Castle with the doctor — placing him in the building Nami has been recovering in.
- The cover-arc fan-art on p. 18 includes a “No flesh-eating snow bunny is gonna catch me!” fan-drawing of Chopper snowboarding — pure back-matter, not in-story.
Drum Island (Ch. 149) — Rumble Ball debut, Zoan classification, seven-form combat grammar
- First on-page sustained combat scene. Fights Wapol + Kuromarimo at the snowy spires of Drum Castle in his human-monster form (X-cross hat now active in combat across every transformation).
- Names the Rumble Ball on-page (p. 2): “The RUMBLE BALL lasts for three minutes!!! That’s all the time you have left!!!” The Rumble Ball is a medicine Chopper invented that modifies his Devil Fruit’s transformation powers — a three-minute combat window. First on-page Rumble Ball. See Rumble Ball Three-Minute Transformation-Modifier Drug Debut.
- Devil Fruit confirmed Zoan (pp. 4-5). Wapol: “So you’ve eaten one of the Devil Fruit, eh!” / “A half-beast, like Dalton!! You’re a reindeer-man!!” Chopper, correcting: “WRONG!! I’M A MAN-REINDEER!!” — first on-page confirmation of his Zoan status (forward-canon: Hito Hito no Mi, the Human-Human Fruit, already named in Ch. 139 by Kureha but here confirmed Zoan class on-page for the first time).
- Reveals seven transformation forms (p. 9): “‘Rumble Ball’ is a medicine that can modify the transformation powers of the Devil Fruit!! After five years of research, I discovered four more transformations!!!” — breaks the canonical Zoan three-stage rule Wapol cites at p. 8. Pre-loads Hiriluk + Kureha as his medical-research mentors. See Chopper Seven-Form Zoan Breaks Three-Stage Limit and Chopper Quack-Doctor Backstory Five-Years-Research Tell.
- Named techniques debut (pp. 4-17):
- Limb Boost — slim leaping form (p. 4)
- Weight Boost — heavy mass form (p. 5)
- Quattro Hammer — hammer-arm slam (p. 5)
- Jumping Boost — airborne leg form (p. 6)
- Guard Boost — bristled shield form (p. 7)
- Arm Boost — sumo-arm slam (p. 10)
- Quattro Ax — sweeping leg/hammer attack (p. 11)
- Brain Boost — calculating form (p. 13)
- Scope — literal crosshair-eye targeting overlay on Wapol’s body (p. 14)
- Cloven — cloven-hoof speed form (p. 17)
- Lands the chin-strike on Wapol (p. 16). Uses Brain Boost + Scope to locate Wapol’s jaw as the weak point, then a 4-form Hammer/Cloven strike to launch Wapol’s jaw straight up (“His chin… GOT IT!!!”, DO×OM!!!). End-of-chapter cliffhanger: Chopper names “Cloven…” and vanishes from Wapol’s sight.
- Doctor-warrior fusion confirmed. The X-cross medical-cross hat that Ch. 134 wardrobe-foreshadowed is structurally inseparable from his combat identity here. Chopper introduces himself as a fighter and a medical researcher in the same scene.
Drum Island (Ch. 148) — first transformation, first speech, first-friend with Luffy
- First on-page Chopper speech. Defends a pirate flag flying beside Drum Castle: “You can’t break it! The skull and crossbones is a symbol of… FAITH!!!” (p. 7) — and is shot to pieces by Wapol’s cannon (KA-BLOOM!!). Wapol declares “I blasted him to pieces!!!” — but Chopper survives (Devil Fruit resilience implied).
- Calls the flag the doctor’s flag (p. 15): “As long as the doctor’s flag is up, I…!!!” — first on-page reference to Hiriluk’s flag in Chopper’s own vocabulary. See Hiriluk Pirate Flag Promise Of Life Doctrine.
- Calls Wapol Doctor (p. 12) in a desperate medical-appeal beat — “DOCTOR STOP!!!” — as Wapol turns the cannon on the wounded Sanji. Either a Hiriluk-vocabulary tell or an instinct-doctor tell. See Doctor Stop Chopper Calls Wapol Doctor Title-Tell.
- First on-page transformation (p. 16): BWOING…!!! — Chopper expands from his small-reindeer form into a large reindeer-humanoid hybrid form. Canonizes him as a Devil Fruit user (Zoan-grammar; forward-canon Hito Hito no Mi). Pays off the Tony Tony Chopper Reindeer First Appearance seeds — the cross-hat-as-medical-cross and baby monster reaction now resolved as Zoan-transformation.
- Named as the abominable snowman the people used to fear (p. 15, by Kuromarimo): “You must be the abominable snowman the people used to fear. But you’re a strange creature.” — canonizes Chopper as the Drum Island yeti-folklore figure and resolves Ch. 133’s Dalton-told “strange beast” + Ch. 134’s villager “baby monster” reactions.
- First-friend moment with Luffy (pp. 15-16): Chopper says “I may not have any friends, but I can fight!!!” — Luffy crashes through the wall: “You have a friend… right here!!! I’m your friend!!!”. Luffy then entrusts Chopper with finishing Wapol (p. 17): “Hey, reindeer. Can you finish him off?” The flag-defense-as-recruitment-witness beat is structurally complete; see Luffy Recruits Via Flag-Defense Witness.
- Reacts in awe to Luffy’s Devil Fruit (p. 17): “Rubber!?” — first Chopper-recognition of another Devil Fruit user, mirroring his own (yet unnamed) power.
Drum Island (Ch. 147) — I won’t hurt you… but leave this country forever — first Chopper-as-diplomat beat
- Silent witness through Wapol’s three-stage Munch-Munch demonstration (pp. 6-11) — ‘He’s going to do something.’ Watches the Mutation → House → Factory → Chessmarimo sequence without intervening.
- Reaction-frame to Hiriluk’s flag destruction (pp. 16-17): blank-eye / huge-pupil shock as Wapol cannons the doctor’s pirate-flag off the castle roof (KRASH!!). Luffy turns to him: ‘Hey, reindeer, that flag…’ — Luffy reads the emotional weight before Chopper speaks.
- First on-page Chopper-as-diplomat beat (p. 18). Steps forward and tells Wapol: ‘I won’t hurt you… But leave this country forever!!!’ — directly applying Hiriluk’s don’t blame all humans, this country is sick now doctrine (the Ch. 145 flashback panel) to the man who killed Hiriluk’s life-work. The sickness-as-tyranny-treatable-by-mercy doctrine cashes immediately into action. See Hiriluk Country Is Sick Now Don’t-Blame-All-Humans Doctrine, Chopper Reasoned-With-The-Tyrant Negotiation Naivete Beat.
- Dr. Kureha’s exasperation (p. 18): ‘You can’t reason with him!! What are you saying, Chopper!?’ — establishes the arc’s emotional engine. Chopper’s mercy-default (Hiriluk-inheritance) vs Kureha’s world doesn’t work that way counterweight — both his mentor-figures’ doctrines are now in active tension inside him on-page. See Kureha Knowledge Plus Kind Heart Doctor Doctrine.
- The X-cross hat-emblem now matches the destroyed flag. The same symbol Wapol cannons off the castle is the one on Chopper’s head — the chapter visually confirms Chopper’s hat as Hiriluk’s literal inheritance as wardrobe. See Chopper Hat-Wearing X-Mark Hat First Worn Frame, Hiriluk Hat With X-Cross Chopper Inheritance Visual Tell.
Drum Island (Ch. 146) — first dialogue; defends Drum Castle
- First on-page dialogue. After twelve chapters of silence (Ch. 134-145, present but non-speaking), Chopper speaks his first lines on-page: ‘King Wapol, it’s…!!!’ / ‘Yes, he’s the monster that followed Hiriluk!!!’ / ‘Dr. Hiriluk just wanted to save this country!!!’ / ‘I won’t let you set one foot in this castle!!!’ (pp. 8-9). Articulate, defensive of Hiriluk, full sentences — Hito-Hito-no-Mi human-language tell (the fruit is not yet named on-page).
- Hiriluk loyalty. Stands at the castle gate as the on-page guardian of Hiriluk’s memory and his pirate-flag (banner of faith, p. 9). Wapol calls him the monster that followed Hiriluk — Chopper-as-Hiriluk’s-adopted-monster is canonized on-page.
- Combat motor-skills. Helps peel Static-Cling hairballs off Sanji and Luffy (p. 12); grabs and holds Wapol’s feet through Luffy’s Armée de l’Air slingshot pullback (pp. 15-17). Opposable thumbs, tool-grade grip, coordinated multi-step combat — subtler Hito-Hito-no-Mi tell.
- First interaction with Nami. Nami lends him her jacket (p. 13) — ‘You can wear my jacket.’ / Chopper: ‘You think so?’ — his first on-page Straw-Hat social bond.
- See Hiriluk Memorial At Drum Castle Quack Doctor Mentor Install, Chopper Refuses To Leave Wapols Wake Loyalty-Tell.
Drum Island flashback (Ch. 145) — Carrying On His Will: Chopper’s origin canonized; Hiriluk’s death; the X-on-hat revealed as inherited emblem
- First speaking flashback appearance. A small swaddled-up reindeer kneels before Hiriluk: ”…Please train me… to be a doctor!!!” (p. 15). Hiriluk replies “Call me… Doctor.” (p. 15). This is the apprenticeship-origin Chopper’s adult crew-role traces back to.
- Hiriluk is canonized as Chopper’s adoptive father. Hiriluk, shielding the child reindeer from Wapol’s archers: “DON’T HURT HIM. HE’S MY SON.” (p. 8). Chopper had brought home an Amiudake / death-cap mushroom believing it medicinal — Hiriluk drinks the poisoned soup knowingly to spare him the truth (“Your mushroom didn’t kill me”, p. 8).
- Chopper witnesses Hiriluk’s death. Chopper sprints through the snow toward the castle (silhouette panels p. 6, “Doctor!! TMP TMP TMP…”) and arrives at the courtyard the instant Hiriluk self-detonates atop the castle spire (pp. 9-10). Hiriluk’s last words to him: “THANK YOU, CHOPPER.” (p. 9).
- Wapol’s men mark Chopper as a monster when they see him in the snow after the blast — “It’s not human!!!” / “Shoot it dead!!!” (p. 11). Dalton intervenes — “HOLD IT!!!” / “Get out of here!!!” / “LIVE… PLEASE!!!” (pp. 12-13) — and orders the small Chopper to flee for the sake of the country.
- The X-cross on Chopper’s hat is revealed as Hiriluk’s emblem — the same mark adorns Hiriluk’s chest, his Jolly Roger, and the flag Chopper carries in flashback (pp. 2, 5, 7, 9, 16). The Ch. 134 medical-cross hat-tell is now confirmed as a wardrobe-inheritance emblem from his adoptive father. See Hiriluk Hat With X-Cross Chopper Inheritance Visual Tell and the payoff annotation on Tony Tony Chopper Reindeer First Appearance.
- The baby monster townsfolk reaction (Ch. 134) is retroactively explained. The townspeople recognize Chopper as Hiriluk’s son — the same monster labeling Wapol’s men gave him at the castle. The pre-Drum-arc backstory the Ch. 134 read flagged as forward-canon is now on-page in flashback.
Drum Island flashback (Ch. 144) — Snow Tale: the amiudake-poisoning narrator; receives Kureha’s knowledge + kind heart doctrine
- Chapter-frame narrator. The entire chapter is Chopper’s POV recollection of his apprenticeship to Hiriluk (pp. 1-17). First sustained on-page Chopper-perspective flashback — filtered through worshipful childhood memory (“The doctor was happy. I cured him!!!” p. 4; “He’s better now.” p. 12). The Ch. 143 sustained-flashback grammar is extended.
- Cooked Hiriluk amiudake mushroom soup believing it a cure-all (pp. 2-3, 13-15). Proudly serves “Amiudake mushroom soup!!” (p. 2) — picked from Hiriluk’s recipe-book where the skull-and-crossbones icon appears next to the picture (p. 15 — “This picture was right next to… THE MUSHROOM!!!”). Chopper read the icon as Hiriluk’s pirate / symbol of faith sigil; the book intended the poison-warning reading. The chapter’s central symbol-misreading.
- Witnesses Hiriluk’s faked recovery and beams (pp. 3-4) — believes the cure-reaction was the medicine working. Hiriluk’s “You’ll make a fine doctor!!!” (p. 4) is the line Chopper carries through the rest of his life.
- Chases Hiriluk to the rope-way platform with Kureha (pp. 12-13). “Don’t run away! I won’t eat you. Where’s Hiriluk!!?” (p. 12, in X-cross hat, on hind legs). Defends Hiriluk to Kureha (p. 13): “He’s going to train me to be a doctor too! It’s a miracle cure, he’s fine now!”
- Whacked by Kureha for the amiudake error (WHAM!! WHAK!! WHAK!! WHAK!!, p. 14). “Ow…” — but is told what he did. Realizes “This picture was right next to… THE MUSHROOM!!!” (p. 15) — first on-page Chopper-as-knowledge-gap-character.
- Receives Kureha’s knowledge + medical skills + kind heart doctor-doctrine in tear-soaked close-up (p. 16): “A kind heart alone won’t save lives!!! You have to acquire knowledge and medical skills!!! Without those things, you can’t save anyone!!!” The mentor-doctrine-synthesis that will convert Chopper from believing apprentice to trained doctor — kind heart (Hiriluk-inheritance) + knowledge and skills (Kureha-instruction) = competent ship’s doctor. See Kureha Knowledge Plus Kind Heart Doctor Doctrine.
- Believed Hiriluk’s skull-and-crossbones = symbol of FAITH doctrine — flashback memory-panel (p. 15): “This flag rejects impossibilities!!! It’s the symbol of FAITH!!!” The X-cross-hat-emblem and the faith-flag doctrine are both Hiriluk-inheritance; this is the chapter that explicitly canonizes the faith keyword Chopper will later use to accept the Strawhat Jolly Roger.
- Asked to be trained by Kureha — Hiriluk’s dying favor on his behalf (p. 7 — “I want you to teach medicine to Chopper!!! He wants to be a doctor!!!”). Kureha refuses on-page, accepts off-page (p. 9). The structural mechanism by which Chopper becomes a trained doctor. See Hiriluk Asks Kureha To Train Chopper As Doctor.
- Hiriluk-emotionally-cured-by-Chopper’s-belief reframing — Kureha to Chopper (p. 16): “What you did touched him deeply. He’s got a kind heart.” The Hiriluk-cured-by-mushroom-soup beat is reframed as emotional cure: Hiriluk was poisoned (body) but emotionally lifted by Chopper’s love and belief. The chapter’s core emotional inversion — Chopper cured the master simply by needing him. Cross-link to the broader Straw-Hat-recruit-as-mentor-emotional-salvation pattern (Sanji-Zeff, Nami-Bell-mère, etc.). See Chopper Cures Hiriluk Belief By Witness.
- Grief-wail across the snow-mountains (p. 17) — wide-panel of snow-mountains, Chopper screaming “WAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAH!!!” — implied response to Hiriluk’s imminent death. The chapter ends on the wail.
Drum Island flashback (Ch. 143)
- First on-page Hiriluk-Chopper backstory. Chopper has been living with Hiriluk for one year (Kureha, p. 6); Hiriluk is “the only friend he’s ever known.”
- Hiriluk fakes a hostile rejection — fires his rifle in the air (“And never come back!!! Go to the sea or something!!!”, p. 10) — then privately confesses “I’d never… shoot you!!!” (p. 11). The kick-out is to spare Chopper the trauma of watching him die.
- Chopper appears in both his reindeer form (most of the chapter) and his human-toddler form (pp. 13-15 — when he tries to greet the reindeer herd). The form-shifting is shown on-page but not explained; first on-page articulation that Chopper is two-formed.
- Chopper is rejected by his own reindeer herd (pp. 13-15). The herd, drawn by Hiriluk’s botched cherry-blossom-bomb-blast, charges and tramples him when he approaches them in greeting. Confirms the not-human-not-animal liminal exile register from Tony Tony Chopper Reindeer First Appearance — Chopper is rejected by his own species as much as by the humans.
- Chopper forages the Amiudake mushroom (p. 16) — a Drum-endemic mushroom Hiriluk has speculated “may or may not be effective against all sorts of illnesses” — to try to cure the dying Hiriluk.
- Chopper returns to a battered, bandaged Hiriluk one week later (“What happened to you!!!?”, p. 17) — the chapter ends on the cliffhanger.
- Kureha’s chapter-title-drop verdict: “Yes, you two are alike. You’re both clumsy.” (p. 8). First on-page external articulation of the Hiriluk-Chopper kinship; the clumsy-doctor-lineage register that Chopper will inherit.
Drum Island (Ch. 142) — flashback origin; named by Hiriluk; Hiriluk-as-father-figure
- First on-page speech. Hidden mute for the first three days of Hiriluk’s care because “When I spoke to the other humans, they shot at me… because it’s weird for reindeer to talk.” (p. 2) — Chopper’s reindeer-human-hybrid outcast register canonized. See Chopper Reindeer-Human Hybrid Walking Talking Outcast.
- Named on-page by Hiriluk (p. 3): “You’re a tonakai*, a reindeer. And you’ve got fine antlers. They look like they could chop down trees… Tony Tony Chopper. It’s a fine name. That’s what I’m going to call you!!”* — first on-page name-etymology reveal. The name is a paternal gift, not a species-name. See Hiriluk Names Tony Tony Chopper After Antlers.
- First on-page giant-form transformation (p. 15) — Chopper bulks into a hulking giant to rout the Drum Security Force (“HEY!! NO FAIR TURNING INTO A GIANT!!!”). Implies he has already eaten the Hito Hito no Mi (Human-Human Fruit) by the flashback-time; the fruit-name is not yet on-page.
- First fight alongside Hiriluk (p. 15) — “That was my first fight.” (Hiriluk); the doctor-and-monster partnership covenant. Chopper offers a mushroom as a peace-offering after.
- The pink top hat with the white X-cross — Hiriluk’s parting gift (p. 17). The iconic medical-cross-on-the-head costume that defines Chopper’s silhouette is now origin-anchored. Hiriluk gave it to him at the one year later discharge.
- Cast out by Hiriluk (p. 17): “Congratulations, you’re free to go… From now on, you can live your life any way you want. Now go. I have work to do.” — chapter ends on Chopper’s stunned, devastated face. The abandoned-by-the-father-figure setup that drives the rest of the Drum arc backstory.
Drum Island (Ch. 141) — first transformation on-screen, first dialogue, first protector (Hiriluk) revealed
- First on-screen on-page Chopper transformation (pp. 3-4). Chopper races out of Drum Castle as a large, antlered, four-legged reindeer — “Look at him go!! … Wow!! Now he looks like a normal reindeer!! Awesome!!!” — confirming he is a Devil Fruit user. The form is not yet named; forward-canon this is Heavy-Point (Chopper’s quadrupedal sprinting form). He still wears Hiriluk’s X-cross top hat throughout. See Chopper Heavy-Point Transformation Battlefield Debut.
- First on-page Chopper dialogue (p. 4): “This is bad. I must inform the doctor!!” and “Doctor!! Terrible news!! … Wapol’s back!!!” — Chopper speaks Japanese / human language on-page for the first time.
- Flashback debut — small-form reindeer in the snow, hunted as the abominable snowman (pp. 15-17). Six years earlier, Chopper is shown as a small blue-nosed antlered reindeer being hunted by villagers as the “abominable snowman” (“Don’t let him get away!! Corner him!!!” / “Kill him before he kills one of us!!!” / “It’s the abominable snowman!! Shoot him!” — p. 16). Bleeding in the snow, he is found by Hiriluk who patches him up (“You’ve been shot! If we don’t stop the bleeding, you’ll die!! … You’re very fortunate, my good monster.”) and shields him from the mob with his own body (p. 17). First on-page Hiriluk-Chopper protector beat.
- The X-cross top hat is now visually traced to its source — Hiriluk’s hat (pp. 10, 13-15). The pink top hat with the white X-cross that Chopper wears in Ch. 134 and Ch. 141 (transformed) is Hiriluk’s hat-design inherited; first on-page articulation of the Hiriluk-Chopper visual inheritance lineage. See Hiriluk Hat With X-Cross Chopper Inheritance Visual Tell.
Drum Island (Ch. 140) — Chopper speaks, transforms, backstory revealed; recruitment-pitch offered and declined
- First on-page speech. Chopper’s first line — ‘The doctor’s medicine is very effective and brings down fevers quickly. But the keschia’s bacteria is still in your body.’ (p. 7) — diagnosing the recovering Nami. Establishes Chopper as a sentient, bipedal, talking creature in a doctor’s-hat persona.
- Confirmed Devil Fruit user. Kureha’s exposition (p. 13): ‘Then one day… He ate the Devil Fruit.’ — explicitly canonizing Chopper as a DF user. The fruit’s name is not given on-page this chapter (forward-canon: the Hito Hito no Mi / Human-Human Fruit, the Zoan that turns animals into humans). See Chopper Devil Fruit Animal Eats Fruit Transformation Debut and Nature of Devil Fruits.
- First on-page transformation — humanoid Heavy Point-style form (p. 16). A DOOMP!! shift from his small bipedal form into a towering, muscular, antlered humanoid figure that snaps a wooden door with one blow. Trigger: rage at Luffy and Sanji defying his warning. See Chopper Heavy Point Humanoid Transformation Debut.
- Backstory revealed (pp. 13-14). Born blue-nosed and rejected by his parents; walked far behind the herd; ate the Devil Fruit and was cast out by the other reindeer as ‘a strange blue-nosed monster’; tried to live with humans and was driven off with gunfire (‘IT’S THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN!!!’). ‘Chopper’s been alone his whole life.’ The rejected-by-both-worlds origin. See Chopper Born Rejected Blue Nose Origin.
- Heart-wound canonized as the recruitment-obstacle. Kureha to Nami (p. 12): ‘He has a deep wound in his heart… that not even a doctor can heal.’ See Chopper Heart Wound A Doctor Cannot Heal Doctrine.
- Recruitment-pitch offered and declined. Nami’s splash ‘SO… WANNA COME ALONG?’ (p. 10) — the Ch. 94 ship’s-doctor slot is now directed at Chopper. He refuses: ‘I’M A REINDEER!! I CAN’T LIVE WITH HUMANS!!! F-F-FOOL!!!’ (p. 10). Kureha endorses the candidate (‘Take him if you want him!’, p. 12). See Chopper As Ship Doctor Recruit Pitch Pending.
- Doctor-instinct extended to wildlife (pp. 15-17). Attacks Luffy and Sanji to keep them from closing Drum Castle’s main door — outside is a nest of orphaned baby snow-birds. ‘If the door closes, they’ll fall.’ Chopper tolerates the castle’s cold to shelter them. See Chopper Protects Baby Snow Birds Doctor Instinct Debut.
- Costume / form details. Pink top hat with white X-cross (the medical-cross hat), white-and-blue collar, dark shorts; antlers, hooves, blue nose. The doctor-hat magician gestures (WIP WIP) accompany his medical exposition (p. 7) — performative-doctor body-language coded into his introductions.
- First on-page named birthday (back-matter SBS, p. 19): December 24th.
Drum Island (Ch. 139) — first speaking appearance, named in dialogue, Devil Fruit revealed
- First speaking appearance. Chopper speaks on-page for the first time (p. 11): “You’re peeking the wrong way.” / “I can still see you. What are you, anyway?”; bursts at Nami “Human!!! Get lost!!” — the human-fearing, defensive register installed.
- First named in dialogue. Kureha calls him “Chopper!!” off-panel (p. 11): “Stop that ruckus, Chopper!!!” — the Ch. 134 editorial-caption naming is now a spoken-name.
- Devil Fruit reveal — Hito Hito no Mi (Human-Human Fruit). Kureha’s caption-narration (p. 19): “He ate the Human-Human fruit… which enables him to do anything a human can do.” First on-page naming of Chopper’s fruit; first on-page naming of the Hito Hito no Mi in the series. See Hito Hito no Mi, Chopper Hito Hito No Mi Human-Human Fruit Reveal.
- Kureha’s apprentice — trained in all her medical skills (p. 19): “I’ve taught him all of my medical skills.” Confirms Chopper is a Kureha-pedigree doctor; Straw Hat ship’s-doctor slot is now fillable by a named on-page character. See Luffy Needs Doctor Crew, Hiriluk Dead Quack Doctor Off-Page Mentor Install.
- Bipedal, clothed, opposable-thumbed. Fetches a hot-water bag (p. 9); wears the pink X-cross top hat; carries a supply bag for Kureha (pp. 17-18 — “Chopper, get the phenicol and the cardiotonic. And chialcillin!!”).
- Cute-misunderstanding running-gag installed. Recognized by Drum townsfolk as “some kind of cute, blue-nosed… talking deer!?” (p. 16); recoils from Luffy trying to eat him (“I’M NOT FOOD!!!!”, p. 19); insists “That’s Chopper. He’s your basic blue-nosed reindeer.” / “Reindeer don’t talk!!” See Chopper Eats Devil Fruit Talking Reindeer Origin.
- Frems = my friends linguistic-tic established (p. 18): “They’re by Frems. By Frems (my friends).” — early-Chopper speech-quirk install.
Drum Island (Ch. 134)
- First on-page appearance. Introduced silently as Dr. Kureha’s companion-animal — a small blue-nosed reindeer with antlers and a pink top hat marked with a white X-cross. Editorial caption (p. 14): “TONY TONY CHOPPER — DR. KUREHA’S BELOVED REINDEER.”
- Accompanies Kureha when she crashes the Cocoaweed tavern to treat the child Tama; Kureha barks for him to load the sleigh (p. 18). He does not speak this chapter.
- Drum Island townsfolk recoil from him at the chapter’s close — “Huh!? A baby monster!!” (p. 18) — the not-human, not-animal liminal framing that drives his backstory and eventual recruitment-arc.
- The X-cross hat-emblem is a medical-cross motif — his costume foreshadows his doctor identity before he speaks a single line. Forward-canon: Chopper is a Devil Fruit user and will become the sixth Straw Hat and the crew’s ship’s doctor (see Straw Hat Recruitment Pattern). See Tony Tony Chopper Reindeer First Appearance.
Long Ring Long Land — lost in the Donut Race (Ch. 309)
- The Straw Hats lose Round 1; Foxy chooses Chopper as his spoils (“He wanted Chopper all along… obsessed with rare beasts,” pp. 9–11) — Chopper is “disgustingly cute,” “the rarest of rare beasts.”
- Conscripted into the Foxy Pirates under the Davy Back Fight articles: forced to swear allegiance to Foxy (“You’re our doctor now, Dr. Chopper”) and wear a Foxy mask (pp. 11–12). Dragged off in tears, begging “HELP!! …I don’t like this!! …I became a sailor because of you guys!” — a forced/temporary defection (a Davy-Back-Fight stake the crew aims to reverse); primary affiliation to the Straw Hat Pirates is not flipped.
- Zoro scolds him to stop blubbering and “see this through to the end” (pp. 13–14); cannot be re-substituted into Round 2 (no-substitutions rule, p. 15).
Long Ring Long Land — Groggy Ring (Ch. 310) — referenced
- Confirmed lost to the Foxy Pirates as the prize for the Straw Hats’ Round-1 defeat: the Groggy Monsters gloat about “the reindeer they lost in the first round” (pp. 10–11). The Groggy Ring is now played in part to win him back. (Referenced, not clearly shown —
last_appearanceheld at 0309.)
Post-Enies Lobby — Water Seven (Ch. 435)
- First “bounty”: a derisory 50 berries (“Cotton Candy Lover (Pet)”, p.17) — the World Government classes him as the crew’s pet, not a threat. Spends his 10,000-berry allowance on Water-Water Candy and medical books (p.7).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 442)
- In sick bay when the barrel is found; panics at the ghost talk; joins Usopp’s anti-ghost chants (pp. 4, 8, 15).

- Chased through the forest by Cerberus (pp. 16-18).
- Instantly recognises the name Dr. Hogback when Hildon mentions him — implying Hogback is a doctor famous enough for Chopper to know (p. 19). See Dr Hogback Named As Famous Doctor Master Of Thriller Bark.
Thriller Bark (Ch. 445)
- The reason the trio brave the island: idolizes Dr. Hogback, a legendary master surgeon “every doctor knows” — gushes over his fame and is desperate to meet him (pp. 3-4, 9).
- Laments not being able to “go on my own like Luffy”; gets his wish to reach the mansion at chapter’s end (“So I get to meet him after all?!”, p. 19).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 447)
- Idolizes the legendary surgeon Dr. Hogback and defends him hotly (“Dr. Hogback is a great man! I have the utmost respect for him!”, p. 9), even while privately admitting a “hunch” the doctor works with the zombies.
- Abducted by a hand that reaches out of a wall painting (p. 12), kicking off the trio’s flight through the mansion.
Thriller Bark (Ch. 452)
- Among Robin’s group in the Zombie Generals’ hall; panics at the generals and at Taralan the giant spider-monkey (“It’s bigger than any bug I’ve ever seen!”) (pp. 9-19).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 456)
Thriller Bark (Ch. 458) — frets the captains can’t be woken
Thriller Bark (Ch. 460)
- Anxious about taking on a Warlord; worried about “the skeleton’s battle” and volunteers to go check on Brook (pp. 4-5).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 461)
- Confronts Dr. Hogback, denouncing him — “You don’t deserve to be called a doctor!!!” (p. 6).
- Hogback recognizes him as a Zoan Devil Fruit user and threatens to take his shadow and turn him into a marionette; Chopper stays behind to fight Hogback and Cindry so Luffy and Robin can press on (pp. 4-6).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 468) — Pirate Chopper vs. Hogback; his doctrine on the dead
- Denounces the surgeon he once revered: “I can see clearly what kind of person you are, Hogback!!”; he understands now why he “can’t let you go unpunished” (pp. 4, 10).
- Doctrine. A body whose soul is no longer connected is “no human being at all”; Hogback makes “monsters,” not life; “You were born with both a body and a soul, but that soul died a long time ago… Human beings need more than that to be free!!” (pp. 10, 13).
- Transforms to Heavy Point and catches the attacking Cindry but refuses to destroy her (“You poor thing! You’re already dead!”), pitying the erased person beneath (p. 12).
- States the arc’s win-condition aloud: “Luffy will beat up Moria and purify all of the zombies!!”; resolves to run and stall (“Cindry! Buy me some time!!”) (p. 19).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 469)
Thriller Bark (Ch. 470)
Thriller Bark (Ch. 471)
- Among the regrouped Straw Hats (large, hatted figure striding up to Oars, p. 19). SHOWN.
Thriller Bark (Ch. 472)
- Part of the coordinated Oars assault (calls the “Giant Robot Warrior” formation excitedly; Leap! launch into the chin-strike combo) and notes the giant must “have some kind of weak point” (pp. 4, 6, 13).
Thriller Bark — backing Zoro vs Oars (Ch. 474)
- Reacts to Zoro deflecting Oars’s punch with Shusui (“Wow! He deflected that punch with his sword!!”, p. 4).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 475)
Thriller Bark (Ch. 476)
- Present with the regrouped crew reacting to Nightmare Luffy and Oars’s Shadow Revolution (pp. 11, 13).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 477) — autopsies Oars and finds the frostbite weak point
- Scrambling over Oars, delivers an on-the-fly autopsy: the demon died of cold/exposure ~500 years ago; his right arm is a Hogback-restored replacement scarred by frostbite and is the weak point — break it to halve his effectiveness (pp. 13-14). Reinforces Oars The Continent Puller Demon From The Land Of Ice.
- States the zombie damage doctrine: Oars feels no pain but still takes damage — “Pain is a signal your body sends… not feeling it isn’t an advantage” (pp. 14-17). Survives being swatted (small enough that Oars’s fist is “a huge cave”), combos the right arm with Sanji, then is knocked out by Gum-Gum Gatling (pp. 15-19).
Thriller Bark (Ch. 478)
- Reels at Oars making “a fool out of us” after the salt countermeasure (p. 9); among the battered crew Oars then stomps.
Thriller Bark (Ch. 480)
- Works the freezer alongside Franky against the dawn clock (“Chopper, hurry!! The sun will be coming up!!”) (p. 9).
Thriller Bark — aftermath (Ch. 486)
- Treats the gravely wounded Zoro; “He was a breath away from dying” (p. 7).
- Warns the others not to give the unconscious Zoro booze — “He needs medicine, not booze!!” (p. 13).

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 607)
- As ship’s doctor, warns that Sanji’s mermaid-induced blood loss could be fatal (p. 13).
Dressrosa (Ch. 795)
- With the Sunny group; insists leaving the ship was “the right choice… we can still save them” (p. 4). The raiders spot “Choppermon” in the lower forest (p. 9).
Dressrosa (departure) (Ch. 801)
- New bounty just 100 berries (“Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover”) — the Marines still treat him as a pet (p. 17).
Wano Country — Onigashima Raid (Ch. 989)
- Operates as “Commander Chopper” inside the Brachio-Tank (p. 11); used himself as bait and fell back to the ground (p. 15).
Wano Country — Onigashima Raid (Ch. 1007)
- Completes the Ice Oni cure: cultures the antibodies into a curative counter-virus (“I can stop a bad virus with a good virus”) and disperses it as a battlefield mist via cannon — the Choppephage Nebulizer — curing the whole Performance Floor at once, friend and enemy alike (pp.8-12). Credits the crew’s two-year split-up training “for this.”
- Reviled as “Mr. Raccoon Dog” by Queen; assisted by Miyagi and Tristan.
- On Marco’s cue (“Now pop him”), downs a Rumble Ball and headbutts Queen in Monster Point (pp.12-13).
Wano Country — Onigashima Performance Floor (Ch. 1014)
- As Chopperemon (Monster Point), trades blows with the gigantified Queen but is panting and outmatched; nothing he does seems to hurt Queen (pp. 5–6).
- Queen tempts him with a chemical formula to stretch his 3-minute Monster transformation to 30 minutes (with bodily risk) — Chopper resists (pp. 6–7).
- Hit by Queen’s Black Coffee Beam and the candy-arrow Diffusion-Mode rain (p. 7).
Wano (epilogue) (Ch. 1058)
- New bounty 1,000 (“increase of 900”), captioned “Ship Doctor: Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover (Pet)” — the World Government still rates him a non-combatant pet. (p.4)
Elbaf (Ch. 1132)
- Targeted by the giant collector Rodo as an “ultra-rare livedoll” alongside Nami (p.10) before the crew escapes the Underworld.
Notes
- First-appearance and first-mention both Ch. 134 — the editorial caption (p. 14) gives his full name Tony Tony Chopper.
- He is non-speaking in Ch. 134 and appears only as Dr. Kureha’s reindeer; his nature as a Devil Fruit user and future Straw Hat is forward-canon, not yet shown on-page.
