Profile
An old nomad on Long Ring Long Land (caption, Ch. 305 p. 3: “Tonjit — Nomad”). Stranded for ten years atop the world’s tallest bamboo stilts — he climbed up when his tribe migrated away, the bamboo kept growing, and he grew too scared to climb down — until the Straw Hats broke the bamboo and freed him (pp. 2–4). Owns a horse named Sherry.

Long Ring Long Land (Ch. 318) — subplot resolved
- Reunited with his horse Sherry after a ten-year wait (pp. 15–16): “You’ve faithfully waited ten years for me… Now it’s my turn to wait with you.”
- The Straw Hats agree to help him find his relocated village — Nami explains the ten small islands periodically connect into one, so the Log Pose can’t pinpoint it (p. 17). See Long Ring Long Land.
Long Ring Long Land (Ch. 305)
- First shown/named on-page (captioned “Tonjit — Nomad”, p. 3).
- Freed by the Straw Hats, who break the giant bamboo stilts he had been trapped atop for ten years (pp. 2–4); bonds with Luffy over ten-year-old cheese (which gives Luffy food poisoning).
- His nomadic tribe migrated away ten years ago without him; he faces ~20 more years before the migration circuit returns to this island (p. 9).
- Explains the island’s geography: ten ring-arranged islands the sea normally divides, connected only during a three-year low-tide window for a few hours, crossed by horse (the Log Pose does not point between them — they are “one island”) (pp. 8–9).
Horse — Sherry
- Tonjit owns a horse named Sherry (Ch. 305, p. 10). Sherry was shot by the Foxy Pirates when they arrived on the island (p. 10). (Recorded here, in Tonjit’s note — no separate horse note minted.)
- The saddled long-necked white horse and Tonjit’s empty yurt-style house were shown @ Ch. 304 before Tonjit himself appeared on-page @0305.
Notes
- Etymology (conservative): No sourced gloss for the name “Tonjit” (トンジット). The only sourced naming note is his Mongolian-nomad design basis (yurt, clothing, horseback tribal migration — One Piece Wiki Trivia). A “ton/豚 (pork)” food-pun and a “Sherry → sherry wine” drink-read are both plausible but unsourced, so they are deliberately not asserted (bad data is worse than no data). Horse name varies by translation (VIZ “Sherry” / elsewhere “Shelly”).
