- Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teech) is revealed as the NEW Seventh Warlord, appointed to fill the seat vacated by Crocodile — a former Whitebeard Pirate who 'fled from there' and 'proved his abilities before being appointed'; his ORIGINAL BOUNTY WAS ZERO (pp. 12-15). Summary
Dawn is less than thirty minutes off, and the shadowless Straw Hats race the sun: if morning comes before their shadows return, they melt away. The crew keeps the rampaging zombie Oars occupied — Zoro testing his new black blade Shusui, Sanji wrestling with the dread of being erased — while Luffy chases Moria’s loose shadow elsewhere. Meanwhile, “Tyrant” Bartholomew Kuma, the lone government-obedient Warlord, has arrived at Thriller Bark to warn Gecko Moria: the World Government fears the Straw Hats (now bound for Fish-Man Island from Water Seven) may topple another Warlord as they did Crocodile, whose Warlord seat has just been filled by the unknown, zero-bounty ex-Whitebeard pirate Marshall D. Teech. An insulted Moria refuses Kuma’s offered help and boasts that the Straw Hat captain has already been turned into one of his zombie slaves. Then Thriller Bark drifts out of the Florian Triangle fog — the crew’s last cover gone — and Moria is revealed to be piloting Oars from inside its belly. He sets the win-condition: beat Oars to pull Moria out and release every stolen shadow. The crew resolves to purify Oars with salt, and Brook arrives just in time with a mountain of it.
