A South Blue island that some refer to as a “Treasure Island,” where giant birds rule over people from a towering nest-tree. Etymology

Confidence: high · トリノ王国 Torino Ōkoku (VIZ “Birdie Kingdom”). A pun on 鳥の王国 Tori no Ōkoku, “Kingdom of Birds” — the giant birds rule the people. “Torino” is simultaneously the Italian city of Torino (Turin), capital of Piedmont. The ruling giant birds evoke the Roc of Arabic folklore (Vivre Card later names them the “Goayu Birds,” from a “Goa” cry). Source: One Piece Wiki — Torino Kingdom.

• Ch. 524 — first appearance; Chopper’s scatter landing site.
• Ch. 591 — Chopper has befriended the ruling giant birds and brokered peace with the humans (the people need only the plants on the birds’ tree; the birds feared egg-thieves). He flies off on a bird to rejoin the crew.
• Ch. 595 — The island’s people, first read as “primitive savages,” are revealed to have “really high-tech” weapons and pharmaceutical technology they couldn’t fully exploit “because the birds kept interfering”; the village library holds extensive medical books.
