Summary

On Egghead, a Vegapunk satellite (helmet-marked “01”/“5”; the one guiding Robin’s group — unnamed on these pages) tells Robin, Usopp and Franky the truth Ohara died for: the Void Century was a war between an advanced ancient civilization and a coalition of 20 kingdoms that won, founded the World Government, and erased all traces from history. He reveals he personally knew Professor Clover and travelled to Ohara’s ruins months after the Buster Call — where he found the island’s books had survived in the central lake, declaring “Ohara won.” A 22-years-ago flashback shows giants from Elbaf (captained by a bandaged giant) salvaging the books, and a young Monkey D. Dragon — then “Captain of the Freedom Fighters” — sparring with Vegapunk over the cover-up; galvanized by Clover’s death, Dragon vows to build a force that can fight back and founds the Revolutionary Army within the year with Kuma and Ivankov. Vegapunk later read all of Ohara’s rescued texts on Elbaf and now carries that knowledge “right here in my brain.” Robin, weeping, names the giant captain — Saul — and Vegapunk confirms he is alive and in hiding. Meanwhile Luffy, Chopper and Bonney accidentally trigger an ancient robot in Egghead’s scrap-heap Fabriophase; it explodes and warps them away, and the present-day human Dr. Vegapunk appears to save them, recognizing Luffy as Dragon’s son and marveling at how Bonney has grown.
