Water Seven (Ch. 362 — “Ebb Tide”) — Reads the receding tide to gauge the return wave

Water Seven (Ch. 361 — “P.S.”) — Warns the sea is too rough to chase the train; helps anchor the group against the Aqua Laguna

  • At Blue Station with the straw-hat group; warns Nami the sea is far too rough to chase the Sea Train — “You don’t understand the terror of Aqua Laguna… it’s impossible for you to go out on the ocean!!!” (p. 12).
  • Helps anchor the group with the Yagara Bull when the waves nearly drag them out to sea (p. 13).
  • With the Galley-La men, confirms this year’s Aqua Laguna is unprecedented — the timetable post ripped from the floor, “this sort of thing has never happened before, not once” (pp. 14–15). Cross-link Nami, Aqua Laguna, Sea Train, Yagara Bull.

Water Seven (Ch. 360 — “Departing Soon”) — Publicly clears the Straw Hats; leads Nami’s group to the station

  • First shown on-page since 0342 — bloodied and betrayed on the floor of Iceberg’s wrecked mansion (pp. 3–4). Refuses to believe Rob Lucci & co. are World Government agents until Lucci answers in the night-attacker’s (“bull mask”) voice he recognizes (p. 6).

(His signature rope techniques are already established @0327; not re-demonstrated on these pages.)

  • The morning after Iceberg’s shooting, Paulie is mobbed by reporters outside the Galley-La Company head office demanding a statement about whether anything in “Mayor Iceberg’s past” could explain the assassination attempt. He bulls through the press — “Shut up… let me through!” / “YOU IDIOTS! I SAID, MOVE!” (p. 18). Summoned to the head office alongside Lulu by the senior staff (“Lulu! Where’s Paulie?!”, p. 10). Established here as a hot-tempered Galley-La man close to Iceberg.

  • Fights with rope techniques — “Rope Action… Bowline Knot!!” and ”…Hook, Line and Sinker!” (pp. 7–9).
  • Deeply in gambling debt (to Rob Lucci): “He’s racked up so much debt from gambling that he’s greedy and has no manners” (p. 7). First appears being dragged by the ear by Lucci over money (p. 3).

  • Caption box names him “Galley-La Company Dock One Rigging and Mast Foreman” (p. 17).
