Chapter 830: A Man You Can Bet On

Summary

In a flashback “a few hours ago” at Fish-Man Island, the Sun Pirates urge their captain Jimbei to follow his heart and quit Big Mom’s organization to one day pledge himself to Straw Hat Luffy, the man he believes will change the world; first mate Aladdin and the giant Wadatsumi note the danger, and Aladdin’s wife Charlotte Praline — Big Mom’s 29th daughter — appears having overheard everything. At Whole Cake Island’s Sweet City, Big Mom has just killed her own son Moscato; in Whole Cake Chateau she grants Jimbei his freedom but demands he “lose something too,” summoning a Roulette Wheel to decide what. Meanwhile, the Sanji-retrieval team’s Sunny is mired in a cooling sea of syrup in Big Mom’s territory at night; Pedro recounts his past — exploring and pirating with Pekoms, hunting a Road Poneglyph for the Cat Viper, and suffering a crushing defeat here — and reveals that 26 years ago the two kings of Zou showed Roger’s crew the Road Poneglyph in the Whale Tree, after which Roger reached Raftel and became Pirate King. The kings see Roger in Luffy; Robin has tasked the crew with also stealing Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph. At dawn the syrup melts and the crew gets its first look at the towering cake-island where an Emperor lives.
