Chapter 683: An Icy Woman

Summary

Three fights unfold inside Caesar Clown’s lab on Punk Hazard. In Structure C, Luffy brawls with the harpy who guards the children — confirmed on-page as Monet — whose snow Devil Fruit lets her raise a “Ten-Layer Igloo,” freeze him on contact, and lull him toward sleep; Luffy answers with Gum-Gum Jet Spear, punching straight through the floor and plummeting down the air ducts toward the underground trash dump. In Structure B, Chopper tries to keep the candy-addicted children out of the Biscuits Room without hurting them, but his Rumble Ball wears off and the children stampede past; Nami, Robin and the others arrive, and Robin’s Mille Fleurs: Gigantesco Mano walls the children off — Chopper explains Caesar means to turn them into “huge, violent soldiers,” and that one girl, Mocha, has kept her senses. In the Structure D S.A.D. Manufacturing Room, Trafalgar Law fights Vergo: Law reveals he knew exactly how to recover his heart from Caesar and only failed to predict Vergo’s arrival, while Vergo — carrying “a message from Joker” — crushes a heart he believes is his leverage, and the pain registers on Vice Admiral Smoker, exposing that Law had swapped Smoker’s heart into the box. Smoker brands him “Vergo the pirate”; Vergo vows to silence him.
