Summary

Cover-art (p. 1) — chapter-opener splash: Chapter 181: SUPERSONIC DUCK QUIZ. Sanji (in a 59-numbered black football-style jersey, knee-shorts, sneakers — no cigarette) sits on a wooden bench at a desert-style crossroads, playing cards with a large dark furry bear-creature wearing a HITODE (Japanese for starfish) shirt. We should be there in about 30 minutes!”; another shouts “Koza!!”; another: “It’s still a ways off, but it’s Alubarna.” / “I see it.” Koza (on camel-back, fist raised, jersey-clad with rebel-army cape): “GRAAH!! Rebels sighted nine miles to the south!!” Chaka (full silhouette, jackal-hood, Royal Guard officer at the walltop): “Get ready men!! Defend the gates with your lives!!” / “Yes, sir!” / “Don’t let them set foot in the city!!!” — first on-page Chaka-as-Alubarna-defensive-wall combat-commander, cashing his Ch. 167 summon my officers and devise a plan of attack dispatch order.

Cut to Alubarna’s West Gate (pp. 4-5) — caption-inset (p. 4): ALUBARNA WEST GATE (with strategic-map showing EAST / SOUTH-EAST / SOUTH (MAIN) / SOUTH-WEST / WEST gates ringing the city, Rebel Forces approaching from the south). The six BW Officer-Agents convene at the gate. Bon Clay (swan-pose, swan-cape): ”…What are we supposed to delux?!” (idiolect). Mr. 1 (hooded): “Then if the battle begins first…” / Doublefinger (afro, sun-pendant): “…is eliminate our target. P. 6 — Merry Christmas peers through binoculars at the duck-squadron racing toward Alubarna: “D— !!” / “DUCKS?!!” Binocular-frame: rows of giant racing-ducks tearing across the dunes (TMP TMP TMP TMP, QUACK). She returns to the photo-board where torn portraits of the Strawhats are pinned (Vivi, Luffy [crossed out — X], Sanji, Nami, Zoro, Usopp visible): “DUCKS?! WHATARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, MS. Bon Clay (strategic-map close-up): “YOU WON’T GET AWAY!!” / “THREE OF ALUBARNA’S FIVE GATES ARE ACCESSIBLE FROM THE WEST!!” / “THEIR PLAN IS TO SPLIT UP AND HEAD FOR THOSE GATES!! Off-camera: “KOO?? QUACK!!” — Karoo arrives at her side, head-bowed in a cape. Vivi (radiant, embraced): ”…KAROO!!” / “LET’S GO…” — Vivi mounts Karoo for the final solo dash to Alubarna’s wall.

P. 16 — Inside the colonnade, Bon Clay’s cape drops off — the pursuer-decoys reveal themselves: Zoro (smiling, mid-air, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” / Chopper (X-marked-hat, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” / Nami (winking, tongue-out, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” — the Strawhats reveal themselves under their Vivi-decoy capes.

• LOAD-BEARING — Bon Clay activates Vivi-impersonation + Strawhats deploy multi-decoy cape-squadron — the Vivi-decoy-squadron strategy is operational (pp. 6-9, 13-17). Five Vivi-look-alikes split across five gate-directions to overload the BW Officer-Agent ambush composition. The Mane-Mane-Counter-Counter: BW set up to use Bon-Clay-as-Vivi to confuse the rebels and the kingdom; the Strawhats deploy five-Vivis-on-Supersonic-Ducks to confuse the BW Officer-Agents about which decoy carries the real princess. • Crocodile — Heh heh… The rebellion will end doctrine (p. 19). First on-page Crocodile-articulates-Operation-Utopia-victory-boast — the kingdom-conqueror frames the imminent Alubarna clash as the end of the rebellion he engineered.
• Robin briefs the BW Officer-Agents on Mr. Prince intel (pp. 7-8). Robin tells the ambush-team there’s a guy named Mr. Prince with them now, and his partner — sourced from Rainbase. First on-page Robin-as-Officer-Agent-intel-source after she saved Luffy in Ch. 180 — operational-traitor / double-dealing register intensifies.

The chapter’s structural irony: the eliminated captain is racing toward them on an Accelegator (Ch. 180).
• Bon Clay’s jersey is captioned ONE (p. 18 editor footnote). TEXT ON JACKET SAYS ‘ONE’ — Bon Clay’s jersey label is canonized. (Editor footnote misattribution between Bon Clay’s Oh Come My Way and the ONE numeric — both are Bon Clay’s costume elements.)
• SBS Ch. 181 — Super-Spot-Billed-Duck-Squadron seven member names canonized via SBS (p. 20). Cowboy, Bourbon Jr., Karoo, Kentauros, Hikoichi (bottom row); Stomp, Ivan X (top row). Open questions raised

• How long was Bon Clay’s Vivi-impersonation plan in development? The Ch. 180 torn-Vivi-photo handoff is one chapter ago; the Ch. 181 live impersonation is operational with full memorized Vivi-affect (♥-bubble, finger-to-chin, Princess Vivi voice register). Either the Mane-Mane is faster-loading than previously canonized, or Bon Clay had access to Vivi-imagery before the photo (Bon Clay was on the Merry in Ch. 156 — did he touch Vivi’s face then?). Forward-canon: investigate the Ch. 156 fishing-line meeting for any Bon-Clay-Vivi-face-contact moment.
• Why is Robin briefing the BW Officer-Agents while having just saved Luffy? The double-dealing register intensifies. Forward-canon: Robin’s I-keep-options-open operational stance pre-loads her arc-end Strawhat-recruitment. Possible alternate read: she’s deliberately compromising the BW ambush by adding too much intel (the six count confuses the ambush composition rather than helping it).
• Where is the sixth Officer-Agent? Robin says “Four and two make six” — four BW Officer-Agents (Mr. 1, Doublefinger, Mr. 4, Merry Christmas) + Mr. Prince + partner = six. The Ch. 180 six-officer-ambush phrasing implied six BW agents. Either (a) the six count includes Bon Clay + Robin themselves; (b) Mr. 3 is supposed to be there but isn’t (still detained at Crocodile’s aquarium); (c) the six arithmetic is being used as a tactical confusion device by Robin.
• What is the HITODE bear-creature on the cover? Hitode (ヒトデ) = starfish in Japanese; the cover bear’s shirt + small starfish on collar identify it as a bear-named-Starfish. Forward-canon connection unclear — possibly a one-off character (chapter-opener splashes are often non-canon comedy).
• Why is the photo-board showing Luffy as X’d-out / dead? The BW Officer-Agents operationally believe Luffy is dead (Crocodile’s Yuba-burial held in their intel). The chapter’s structural irony: Luffy is on the way on an Accelegator (Ch. 180). The ambush composition is mis-calibrated against a four-Strawhat-plus-Mr-Prince threat instead of a five-Strawhat-plus-Mr-Prince threat.
• What about Eyelashes-the-camel as a Vivi-decoy? The camel-as-decoy reveal (p. 17) implies the Strawhats had Eyelashes carry a princess-cape too — but camels and Spotbills look very different; the BW Officer-Agents must have spotted at a distance with binoculars too low-resolution to distinguish. Forward-canon: is Eyelashes operationally a Strawhat-tier tactical asset for the rest of Alabasta?
• Did Bon Clay’s Mr. Prince recognition (p. 17) involve a face-library check? Bon Clay says “AND YOU’RE THAT GUY FROM…!!!” — recognizing Sanji. Either Bon Clay encountered Sanji in Rainbase (Ch. 169-170) and stored his face, or Robin’s intel-brief was specific enough to ID Sanji-as-Mr.-Prince to him. Forward-canon: Bon-Clay-vs-Sanji set-piece will reveal the answer.
