- **LOAD-BEARING — Bon Clay activates the Mane Mane no Mi to impersonate Vivi, and each Strawhat rides a Supersonic Duck disguised under an identical hooded cape — five Vivi-decoys split toward Alubarna** (pp. 6-9, pp. 13-17). Caption-frame on p. 6: *'D— !! DUCKS?!!'* / *'THERE'S MORE OF THEM NOW!! SIX OF THEM!!'* — Ms. Merry Christmas through binoculars spots the Karoo-led duck-squadron. Mr. 1: *'And they're riding Supersonic Ducks, the fastest creatures in Alabasta!!'* / Doublefinger: *'EGAD!! They're all wearing identical capes!!!'* / Mr. 4: *'CURSE THEM!! WE CAN'T TELL WHICH ONE IS VIVI!!!'* / *'IT'S SO 'IFFY'!!'* (pp. 7-9). The torn-photo-handoff in Ch. 180 is now operationally cashed: **Bon Clay-as-Vivi is the decoy-engine, and four Strawhats-as-Vivi-doubles are the multi-decoy reinforcement** — a *five-Vivis-arrive-at-different-gates* strategic-cipher that defeats the BW Officer-Agent ambush composition by *information-overload of the prime target*. The chapter cashes the **Mane-Mane-Counter-Counter** — the BW Officer-Agents prepped a Mane Mane impersonation chase, and the Strawhats deploy a *multi-decoy cape-stack* that turns the impersonation-tool into a *which-cape-is-the-real-target* combinatorial problem. **First on-page operational deployment of the Strawhat *Vivi-decoy-squadron* strategy that defines the entire Alubarna chase set-piece.**
- **Alubarna is a five-gate city — visualized for the first time on a strategic map** (pp. 4, 13). The map (p. 13) shows **five gates** ringing the Alubarna plateau: *EAST / SOUTH-EAST / SOUTH (MAIN) / SOUTH-WEST / WEST*; only three (East / South-East / South / South-West / West — actually visible: East, South-East, South[Main], South-West, West are labeled, with North side closed/inaccessible). Mr. 1 (p. 13): *'Three of Alubarna's five gates are accessible from the west!!'* The Rebel Forces are positioned south of the city; the BW Officer-Agents are ambushed at the East Gate (p. 4 inset map confirms *ALUBARNA WEST GATE* labels as well). **First on-page Alubarna five-gate-city-layout reveal** — installs the geographic-cipher that structures the entire chase chapter.
- **Chaka — Defend the gates with your lives doctrine — first on-page Royal Guard Acting-Commander combat-deployment at Alubarna's defensive wall** (p. 3). Chaka (full silhouette, jackal-mask hood, Royal Guard officer at the gate): *'Get ready, men!! Defend the gates with your lives!!'* / *'Yes, sir!'* / *'Don't let them set foot in the city!!!'* Lieutenant (Royal Guard subordinate, p. 3): *'Lord Chaka!! Rebels sighted nine miles to the south!!'* **First on-page Chaka-at-Alubarna-defensive-wall combat-command** — the Ch. 167 *summon my officers and devise a plan of attack* dispatch order now cashes into Chaka-as-front-line-defender. The Royal-Army war-machine is operationally activated at the city wall.
- **Koza — Thirty minutes to Alubarna — Rebel-Forces strategic clock** (p. 2). Caption-frame: Rebel-marchers ride camels in formation (*KLOP KLOP KLOP*); a rebel: *'Good!! We should be there in about 30 minutes!'* / Another: *'Koza!!'* / Another: *'It's still a ways off, but it's Alubarna.'* / *'I see it.'* Koza (panel 3) leans forward on camel-back, raises his fist (87 on shirt — captioned later p. 7 *'TEXT ON JACKET SAYS "OH COME MY WAY"'*... wait, that's the *87* number which forward-canon is Koza's rebel-rank — actually p. 7 footnote refers to a different jacket): *'GRAAH!! RAAAH!! Alubarna is just ahead!!! Get ready, men!!!'* — **Koza-as-active-Rebel-march-leader**. The Ch. 180 *five-hour clock* has elapsed to *30 minutes*. **First on-page Koza-leads-the-march to Alubarna's gate.**
- **Crocodile — Heh heh… The rebellion will end doctrine** (p. 19). Long-shot of Alubarna's wall-line; *WHAT?!!* (off-panel Chaka reaction); on the desert horizon — Crocodile (hooked-hand silhouette in cloak): *'Heh heh… The rebellion will end.'* / *'If I don't stop the rebels here, then all our efforts will have been for nothing!!!'* (p. 19 — that's Koza's interior monologue). **First on-page Crocodile-articulates-Operation-Utopia-victory-boast** — the kingdom-conqueror frames the imminent Alubarna clash as *the end* of the rebellion he engineered. Pre-loads the Ch. 184+ *trust-as-the-most-overrated-thing* arc-finale gaslighting.
- **Strawhat Vivi-decoy assignments — five Vivis ride five Supersonic Ducks toward five gates** (pp. 8-9, pp. 11-15). The decoy-composition reveals itself in stages: two split toward the **South Gate** (Mr. 4 + Ms. Merry Christmas pursue: *'Let's go, Mr. 4!! Leave those two to us!!!'* p. 11); two more split toward the **South-West** (Mr. 1 + Doublefinger pursue: *'They're headed for the west gate!! Blast them!!'* p. 12); one (Bon-Clay-as-Vivi + Mr. 2 himself, p. 14) is intercepted by the speed-leader near the **East Gate**. **First operational evidence that the chapter's set-piece pair-battles will be: Mr. 4 + Merry Christmas vs. (two Strawhats — forward-canon Chopper + Usopp); Mr. 1 + Doublefinger vs. (two Strawhats — forward-canon Zoro + Nami); Bon Clay vs. (Sanji-as-Vivi-decoy / Mr. Prince).** The Officer-Agent pair-grammar (Ch. 155 BW org-chart) is operationally inverted: pairs *split among themselves* to chase pairs of decoys.
- **Usopp — Fire Star (named) — first on-page Baroque-Works combat-deployment** (p. 11). Usopp (riding a duck, slingshot drawn): *'…FIRE STAR!!!'* — *SHWOOM!!* — bursts of fire fly back toward the pursuing Mr. 4 + Ms. Merry Christmas. **First Usopp-Fire-Star-deployment in the Alabasta arc** — pays off the Ch. 0058 *Fire Star named* foreshadow. The slingshot-attack as Strawhat cover-fire for the duck-chase.
- **Mr. 1 + Ms. Doublefinger combat-pair activation — *Let's get 'em!!* / *They're headed for the west gate!! Blast them!!*** (p. 12). The Mr. 1 + Doublefinger Officer-Agent pair (paired since Ch. 0157) activates as a **combat-team** for the first time in pursuit. Mr. 1: *'Blast them!!'* / Doublefinger: *'Let's get 'em!'* — pre-loads the forward-canon Zoro-vs-Mr.-1 + Nami-vs-Doublefinger pair-battles.
- **Mr. 4 + Ms. Merry Christmas combat-pair activation — *Let's go, Mr. 4!! Leave those two to us!!!*** (p. 11). Mr. 4 (riding the Sphinx mount from Ch. 0172) and Ms. Merry Christmas split off in pursuit of the south-heading decoys. *DASH!!* — Mr. 4's silhouette charging forward. **First on-page Mr. 4 + Merry Christmas combat-deployment** — pays off Ch. 172 *Fatty and the old bat will come through* mission-tee-up.
- **Bon-Clay-as-Vivi — *You managed to follow us!! Ha ha ha!! Amazing!!* / *You have good intuition. Yes!! I am indeed Princess Vivi!!*** (p. 14). Bon Clay in princess-cape, mimicking Vivi's voice, taunts the pursuer who managed to track him: *'STOP!!'* / *'No, you're not! I'm the real Princess Vivi!!'* — **the Vivi-vs-Bon-Clay-as-Vivi confrontation is on-panel.** The pursuer is **Sanji-as-Vivi-decoy / Mr. Prince** (revealed p. 16 — *TOO BAD.* unbutton-reveal of Zoro + Chopper + Nami in their decoy capes). Pre-loads the forward-canon Sanji-vs-Bon-Clay set-piece.
- **Robin (Miss All Sunday) tells Mr. 1 of the Mr. Prince intel** (pp. 7-8). Robin (afro, leaning toward Mr. 1): *'There's a guy named Mr. Prince with them now, and his partner.'* Mr. 1: *'Who cares how many of them there are?'* — Robin briefs the Officer-Agent ambush about the Strawhats' decoy-augmentation **before the chase starts**. **First on-page Robin-as-Officer-Agent-intel-source** in the Alubarna ambush composition. Robin appears to be **double-dealing** — she briefs the Officer-Agents accurately while having just saved Luffy in Ch. 180; the *operational-traitor* register is intensifying.
- **Vivi (real) — racing solo toward Alubarna on foot — *I've got to hurry... The rebel forces are very near. Thank you, everyone!!*** (p. 15). The real Vivi (cloaked, head-scarfed) sprints across the desert plain on foot (*SHF SHF*) toward Alubarna's wall while the duck-decoys draw the BW pursuit away. **First on-page Vivi-uses-the-decoy-distraction-to-reach-Alubarna beat.** Karoo (off-camera initially, then arrives — *KOOO?? QUACK!!*): *'Karoo!!'* / Vivi: *'Let's go...'* — Vivi mounts Karoo for the final dash, leaving the decoy-team's sacrifice behind.

Summary
Cover-art (p. 1) — chapter-opener splash: Chapter 181: SUPERSONIC DUCK QUIZ. Sanji (in a 59-numbered black football-style jersey, knee-shorts, sneakers — no cigarette) sits on a wooden bench at a desert-style crossroads, playing cards with a large dark furry bear-creature wearing a HITODE (Japanese for starfish) shirt. The crossroads sign-post reads GO ALONG / THAT WAY. The bear-creature holds an enormous fan of playing-cards; Sanji holds a smaller fan with two cards extended. A small starfish-shape is visible at the bear’s collar. One-off chapter-opener splash — the chapter-title Supersonic Duck Quiz puns the in-chapter which-duck-carries-Vivi? combinatorial puzzle the BW Officer-Agents face.
In-story (pp. 2-3) — Wide-shot of the Sandora Desert (WOOoooOoo… wind, KLOP KLOP hoofbeats); the Alabasta Rebel Forces (camel-mounted, hundreds of figures stretching to the horizon) approach Alubarna. A rebel announces “Good!! We should be there in about 30 minutes!”; another shouts “Koza!!”; another: “It’s still a ways off, but it’s Alubarna.” / “I see it.” Koza (on camel-back, fist raised, jersey-clad with rebel-army cape): “GRAAH!! RAAAH!!” / “Alubarna is just ahead!!! Get ready, men!!!” — the Rebel-Forces strategic clock is now 30 minutes to the Alubarna walls (down from the Ch. 180 five-hour count).
Cut to Alubarna’s defensive wall (p. 3) — Royal Guard subordinate: “Lord Chaka!! Rebels sighted nine miles to the south!!” Chaka (full silhouette, jackal-hood, Royal Guard officer at the walltop): “Get ready men!! Defend the gates with your lives!!” / “Yes, sir!” / “Don’t let them set foot in the city!!!” — first on-page Chaka-as-Alubarna-defensive-wall combat-commander, cashing his Ch. 167 summon my officers and devise a plan of attack dispatch order.
Cut to Alubarna’s West Gate (pp. 4-5) — caption-inset (p. 4): ALUBARNA WEST GATE (with strategic-map showing EAST / SOUTH-EAST / SOUTH (MAIN) / SOUTH-WEST / WEST gates ringing the city, Rebel Forces approaching from the south). The six BW Officer-Agents convene at the gate. Bon Clay (swan-pose, swan-cape): ”…What are we supposed to delux?!” (idiolect). Mr. 1 (hooded): “Then if the battle begins first…” / Doublefinger (afro, sun-pendant): “…is eliminate our target. All we have to do…” / “Once the battle begins, not even the princess will be able to stop it.” / “We won’t have to do anything.” — the Officer-Agent pair-grammar articulates the Operation-Utopia-as-self-resolving-civil-war strategy: the chaos itself will eliminate Vivi.
Ms. Merry Christmas interrupts (p. 5): “OH!! MY BACK!! MY ACHIN’ BACK!! Mr. 4, I need a massage!” — comic-relief beat. Bon Clay scolds: “Stop it, you two.” Merry Christmas: “You obviously want a taste of my crazy karate!!” / “Is that so hard for you to get?” HAI-YAH!! / KRIK / SWSH. The chapter’s set-piece debate-tone breaks into Officer-Agent in-fighting. A subordinate (off-panel, TMP TMP): “They’re…” / Mr. 4: “WHAT?!!” — …com-… …ing…”
P. 6 — Merry Christmas peers through binoculars at the duck-squadron racing toward Alubarna: “D— !!” / “DUCKS?!!” Binocular-frame: rows of giant racing-ducks tearing across the dunes (TMP TMP TMP TMP, QUACK). She returns to the photo-board where torn portraits of the Strawhats are pinned (Vivi, Luffy [crossed out — X], Sanji, Nami, Zoro, Usopp visible): “DUCKS?! WHATARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, MS. MERRY CHRISTMAS?” / “SCRATCHING STRAW HAT OFF THE LIST, SHOULDN’T THERE ONLY BE FOUR LEFT?!” / “THERE’S MORE OF THEM NOW!! SIX OF THEM!!” — confusing the duck-count with the Strawhat-roster. Luffy is operationally listed as eliminated by the BW Officer-Agents (struck-through portrait) — they presume Crocodile’s Yuba-burial of Luffy held.
P. 7 — Doublefinger: “OUR TARGET IS THE PRINCESS.” / Mr. 1: “WHO CARES HOW MANY OF THEM THERE ARE?” Robin (afro, in profile, on-page in the ambush group): “THERE’S A GUY NAMED MR. PRINCE WITH THEM NOW, AND HIS PARTNER.” / “FOUR AND TWO MAKE SIX.” / “DIDN’T YOU HEAR WHAT THE BOSS SAID?” — Robin briefs the Officer-Agents on the Mr. Prince intel (sourced from the Rainbase confrontation Ch. 0169-0170). First on-page Robin-as-Officer-Agent-intel-source after she just saved Luffy in Ch. 180 — the operational-traitor / double-dealing register intensifies.
Merry Christmas (skipping toward the binoculars in her crab-suit, WIP WIP, RAH RAH): “IF THE PRINCESS THINKS SHE CAN PUT A STOP TO THAT, SHE’S A LOONY!!!” / “BUT THAT LOONY’S COMING FROM THIS WAY!!!” / “LOOK OVER THERE!! IT’S THE REBEL FORCES!!!” / “THERE ARE MILLIONS OF THEM!!” — editor footnote (p. 7): “TEXT ON JACKET SAYS ‘OH COME MY WAY’ — ED.” — wait, no, this footnote is misattributed in OCR — the actual footnote is “TEXT ON JACKET SAYS ‘OH COME MY WAY’” referencing Bon Clay’s cape. Mr. 4: “YOU SAID ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS ELIMINATE VIVI.” / “ALL RIGHT…” / “MR. 1…” / “HOW IFFY!!!”
P. 8 — Mr. 1 (silhouette, hooded eyes): “THEN WHICH ONE IS SHE?” The binocular-view (full panel): five Supersonic Ducks racing in line, each carrying a hooded-caped rider (the Vivi-decoy composition — TMP TMP TMP TMP TMP). Doublefinger: “AND THEY’RE RIDING SUPERSONIC DUCKS, THE FASTEST CREATURES IN ALABASTA!!” Bon Clay (in the foreground, head turned, sweat-bead): “EGAD!! THEY’RE ALL WEARING IDENTICAL CAPES!!!”
P. 9 — Mr. 4 (close-up, eyes wide): “CURSE THEM!! WE CAN’T TELL WHICH ONE IS VIVI!!!” Bon Clay: “IT’S SO ‘IFFY’!!” Merry Christmas (head down, exasperated): “GET THEM, MR. 4!!!” / Bon Clay: ”!!!” (sweat-bead) — the Vivi-decoy-cipher-as-tactical-engine is now operational.
P. 10 — The Strawhat decoy-squad approaches the BW position (BOOM!! — first Officer-Agent attack). One duck (TIK TIK TIK — small ball flung) — DMP / DMP / BOOOM!! the duck-squad dodges Mr. 4’s bomb-baseballs (WHOOSH!!). Caption (a panel later): “DON’T GO NEAR IT!!!” — Strawhat dialogue calling out the Mr. 4 bomb-balls hazard.
P. 11 — Strategic-shot: “THEY DODGED IT!! THOSE BIRDS ARE FAST!!” / “TWO BROKE OFF TOWARD THE SOUTH!! THEY’RE SPLITTING UP!!” / “THEY’RE HEADING FOR THE SOUTH GATE!” — the duck-decoys split. Mr. 4 (with Sphinx mount, TARRUMP hoof-beats): “LET’S GO, MR. 4!! LEAVE THOSE TWO TO US!!!” (Merry Christmas commanding). DASH!! — Mr. 4 + Merry Christmas charge after the south-bound decoys. “R…IGHT…” (Mr. 4’s slow assent). Counter-shot: one of the splitting decoys (Usopp, slingshot drawn): ”…FIRE STAR!!!” — SHWOOM!! — bursts of fire fly back at the pursuers. ”…KILLER…” (Chopper, hooded in cape, “THAT’S WHERE THE REBELS ARE!! SO ONE OF THEM MUST BE VIVI!!”).
P. 12 — A second split — two more ducks break west: “ONE OF THEM COULD BE VIVI!!” / “MR. 1!! TWO MORE BROKE OFF FROM THAT SIDE!!” / “THEY’RE HEADED FOR THE WEST GATE.” / “BLAST THEM!!” (Doublefinger). “LET’S GET ‘EM!” — Mr. 1 + Doublefinger activate as combat-pair and pursue. Bon Clay (left behind alone, HUH?!) — WOOoo…. Merry Christmas (excitedly, with binoculars, p. 12 bottom): ”!!”
P. 13 — KR-…ASH!!! (BW grunt fired upon, UGH!!) / “WE’LL HEAD FOR THE SOUTHWEST GATE.” (Strawhat duck-rider, QUACK!!, TMP TMP). Bon Clay (strategic-map close-up): “YOU WON’T GET AWAY!!” / “THREE OF ALUBARNA’S FIVE GATES ARE ACCESSIBLE FROM THE WEST!!” / “THEIR PLAN IS TO SPLIT UP AND HEAD FOR THOSE GATES!! BUT IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE!! WE’LL ELIMINATE THEM INSIDE THE CITY!!!” — Bon Clay articulates the Alubarna five-gate strategic-map (N closed; E / SE / S-Main / SW / W accessible; rebels at the south; west three accessible — first on-page Alubarna gate-cipher). Then QUACK!!! — Chaka (binocular-view): “NO, WAIT!! THAT’S THE SUPERSONIC DUCK SQUADRON!!! LET THEM IN!!!” — Chaka recognizes the Royal-Guard-affiliated Supersonic Duck Squadron approaching and orders his men to let them through. “HEY, SOMEBODY’S COMING!!! IS IT THE ENEMY?!!”
P. 14 — Inside Alubarna’s outer plaza/colonnade (white limestone arches, sandstone columns) — Bon Clay (in princess-cape, mimicking Vivi’s voice and posture, WOoo…): “WHAT?!” / “YOU MANAGED TO FOLLOW US!! HA HA HA!! AMAZING!!” The pursuer (silent, in princess-cape, off-frame): ”…” Bon Clay (smiling, finger-to-chin): “NO, YOU’RE NOT! I’M THE REAL PRINCESS VIVI!!” / “YOU HAVE GOOD INTUITION. YES!! I AM INDEED PRINCESS VIVI!! ♥” The decoy: “STOP!!” (small, defiant) — “LET’S SHOW THEM WHO WE REALLY ARE.” / “THIS SHOULD BE FAR ENOUGH. ♥” — Bon Clay shrugs out of his Vivi-cape with a FWUP gesture.
P. 15 — Outside the city, on the dust-plain (BA-BUMP… BA-BUMP) — the real Vivi (cloaked, head-scarfed, sprinting on foot, SHF SHF): “I’VE GOT TO HURRY…” / “THE REBEL FORCES ARE VERY NEAR.” / “THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!” — Vivi mentally salutes her duck-decoy crew. Off-camera: “KOO?? QUACK!!” — Karoo arrives at her side, head-bowed in a cape. Vivi (radiant, embraced): ”…KAROO!!” / “LET’S GO…” — Vivi mounts Karoo for the final solo dash to Alubarna’s wall.
P. 16 — Inside the colonnade, Bon Clay’s cape drops off — the pursuer-decoys reveal themselves: Zoro (smiling, mid-air, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” / Chopper (X-marked-hat, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” / Nami (winking, tongue-out, DOOM!!): “TOO BAD.” — the Strawhats reveal themselves under their Vivi-decoy capes.
P. 17 — Bon Clay (DOOM!!, eyes wide, finger-shocked, glasses cracking): ”!!” / ”!!” / “WRONG.” (Sanji, GRMPF, cigarette lit, opening his cape). Camel-Eyelashes (revealed beneath one cape, tears streaming, GRMPF / DAZE): ”…CAMEL!!” — “S-SORRY!!!” / “AAAH!! AAAH!! GRMPF!!” (the camel sobs — even Eyelashes was in a Vivi-cape decoy). Bon Clay: “AND YOU’RE THAT GUY FROM…!!!” (recognizing Sanji as Mr. Prince).
P. 18 — Wide pull-out inside Alubarna’s plaza (arches, sandstone columns, palm trees): four Strawhats (Sanji, Chopper, Zoro, Nami, Usopp) + Eyelashes all in princess-capes thrown back, sand-camel and ducks behind them. Footnote (editor): “TEXT ON JACKET SAYS ‘ONE’ — ED.” (Bon Clay’s jersey label). Bon Clay (afro silhouette, finger-to-mouth, HMPH): “OKAY, ZOLO, GET IT OVER WITH!!” / “YOU KEEP QUIET!!” — pre-loads the Sanji-vs-Bon-Clay set-piece (Zoro is hushed because Sanji wants the fight).
P. 19 — Cut to the outer-Alubarna desert horizon (WOoo…) — Crocodile (cloaked silhouette, hooked-hand visible, in profile against the sun): “HEH HEH… THE REBELLION WILL END.” Cut to Vivi (on Karoo, TMP TMP, WOOOoo): “IF I DON’T STOP THE REBELS HERE, THEN ALL OUR EFFORTS WILL HAVE BEEN FOR NOTHING!!!” (interior monologue, QUACK!!!). Karoo (close-up of beak-grit, hood blown back): “QUACK!!!” / WOOoooOO.
P. 20 — SBS Question Corner — White Walky / Hairy Hippo gag (Oda: “No thank you”); the Supersonic Duck Squadron member names canonized (asked by Asada, the former-OP-editor with a weakness for cute things): Oda: “The bottom row, starting from the left, is Cowboy, Bourbon Jr., Karoo, Kentauros, and Hikoichi. The top row is Stomp and Ivan X.” — first on-page canonization of the squadron-roster beyond Karoo.
New reveals
- LOAD-BEARING — Bon Clay activates Vivi-impersonation + Strawhats deploy multi-decoy cape-squadron — the Vivi-decoy-squadron strategy is operational (pp. 6-9, 13-17). Five Vivi-look-alikes split across five gate-directions to overload the BW Officer-Agent ambush composition. The Mane-Mane-Counter-Counter: BW set up to use Bon-Clay-as-Vivi to confuse the rebels and the kingdom; the Strawhats deploy five-Vivis-on-Supersonic-Ducks to confuse the BW Officer-Agents about which decoy carries the real princess. First on-page operational deployment of the chapter-defining Vivi-decoy strategy.
- Alubarna’s five-gate strategic-map first on-page debut (pp. 4, 13). Five gates ring the Alubarna plateau — East / South-East / South (Main) / South-West / West; north-side inaccessible. Three of five accessible from the west. First on-page Alubarna gate-cipher — installs the geographic-grammar for the entire chase-and-pair-battle composition.
- Chaka — Defend the gates with your lives — first on-page Alubarna defensive-wall combat-command (p. 3). Royal Guard Acting Commander at the wall directing the gate-defense; cashes Ch. 167 summon my officers dispatch order.
- Koza — 30-minutes-to-Alubarna Rebel-Forces strategic clock (p. 2). The Ch. 180 five-hour clock has elapsed; the Rebel-Forces are 30 minutes from the wall. Koza on camel-back leading the march, fist-raised.
- Crocodile — Heh heh… The rebellion will end doctrine (p. 19). First on-page Crocodile-articulates-Operation-Utopia-victory-boast — the kingdom-conqueror frames the imminent Alubarna clash as the end of the rebellion he engineered.
- Robin briefs the BW Officer-Agents on Mr. Prince intel (pp. 7-8). Robin tells the ambush-team there’s a guy named Mr. Prince with them now, and his partner — sourced from Rainbase. First on-page Robin-as-Officer-Agent-intel-source after she saved Luffy in Ch. 180 — operational-traitor / double-dealing register intensifies.
- Officer-Agent ambush composition splits into three combat-pairs (pp. 11-13): Mr. 4 + Merry Christmas pursue South-Gate decoys (Usopp + Chopper); Mr. 1 + Doublefinger pursue South-West / West Gate decoys (Zoro + Nami implied); Bon Clay intercepts the East-Gate decoy (Sanji-as-Vivi / Mr. Prince). The pair-grammar of the Ch. 155 BW org-chart is operationally inverted — pairs split among themselves to chase pairs of decoys.
- Mr. 4 + Merry Christmas combat-pair activates (p. 11). Mr. 4 (on Sphinx mount from Ch. 0172) + Ms. Merry Christmas pursue south-bound decoys. Pays off Ch. 172 Fatty and the old bat will come through mission-tee-up.
- Mr. 1 + Doublefinger combat-pair activates (p. 12). The Mr. 1 + Doublefinger Officer-Agent pair (paired since Ch. 0157) activates as a combat-team for the first time. “Blast them!!” / “Let’s get ‘em!”
- Usopp — Fire Star — first Baroque-Works-combat deployment (p. 11). ”…FIRE STAR!!!” — SHWOOM!! — slingshot-fire-attack as Strawhat cover-fire for the duck-chase. Pays off Usopp Fire Star Named (Ch. 0058 named, now operationally deployed against BW).
- Bon-Clay-as-Vivi confronts the Strawhat decoy in Alubarna’s plaza (pp. 14-17). Live Mane-Mane Vivi-impersonation in the colonnade — “YOU HAVE GOOD INTUITION. YES!! I AM INDEED PRINCESS VIVI!! ♥” — the decoy reveals to be Zoro + Chopper + Nami + Sanji + Eyelashes (the camel was also caped). Pre-loads the forward-canon Sanji-vs-Bon-Clay set-piece.
- Eyelashes-the-camel was a Vivi-decoy too (p. 17). Even Eyelashes (the camel, cape thrown back, tears streaming, sobbing “S-SORRY!!!”) carried a princess-cape for the decoy-squad. First on-page Eyelashes-as-strategic-decoy participant — the comic-animal-companion is operationally a Strawhat-tier tactical asset.
- BW kill-list — Luffy crossed out, Vivi the prime target, four Strawhats remaining (p. 6). Merry Christmas’s photo-board shows Vivi (top-left), Luffy (X’d out — killed at Yuba), Sanji, Nami, Zoro, Usopp. The BW Officer-Agents operationally believe Luffy is dead. The chapter’s structural irony: the eliminated captain is racing toward them on an Accelegator (Ch. 180).
- Bon Clay’s jersey is captioned ONE (p. 18 editor footnote). TEXT ON JACKET SAYS ‘ONE’ — Bon Clay’s jersey label is canonized. (Editor footnote misattribution between Bon Clay’s Oh Come My Way and the ONE numeric — both are Bon Clay’s costume elements.)
- SBS Ch. 181 — Super-Spot-Billed-Duck-Squadron seven member names canonized via SBS (p. 20). Cowboy, Bourbon Jr., Karoo, Kentauros, Hikoichi (bottom row); Stomp, Ivan X (top row). Oda confirms he had all the names established but kept them off-page to avoid confusion. Already captured at SBS Volume 20.
- Cover-art (p. 1) — Sanji-and-bear-friend playing-cards splash. Sanji in 59 jersey + shorts + sneakers, on a desert-crossroads bench, playing cards with a large dark furry bear in a HITODE (Japanese: starfish) shirt. One-off chapter-opener — not a continuing cover-arc beat.

Open questions raised
- How long was Bon Clay’s Vivi-impersonation plan in development? The Ch. 180 torn-Vivi-photo handoff is one chapter ago; the Ch. 181 live impersonation is operational with full memorized Vivi-affect (♥-bubble, finger-to-chin, Princess Vivi voice register). Either the Mane-Mane is faster-loading than previously canonized, or Bon Clay had access to Vivi-imagery before the photo (Bon Clay was on the Merry in Ch. 156 — did he touch Vivi’s face then?). Forward-canon: investigate the Ch. 156 fishing-line meeting for any Bon-Clay-Vivi-face-contact moment.
- Why is Robin briefing the BW Officer-Agents while having just saved Luffy? The double-dealing register intensifies. Forward-canon: Robin’s I-keep-options-open operational stance pre-loads her arc-end Strawhat-recruitment. Possible alternate read: she’s deliberately compromising the BW ambush by adding too much intel (the six count confuses the ambush composition rather than helping it).
- Where is the sixth Officer-Agent? Robin says “Four and two make six” — four BW Officer-Agents (Mr. 1, Doublefinger, Mr. 4, Merry Christmas) + Mr. Prince + partner = six. The Ch. 180 six-officer-ambush phrasing implied six BW agents. Either (a) the six count includes Bon Clay + Robin themselves; (b) Mr. 3 is supposed to be there but isn’t (still detained at Crocodile’s aquarium); (c) the six arithmetic is being used as a tactical confusion device by Robin.
- What is the HITODE bear-creature on the cover? Hitode (ヒトデ) = starfish in Japanese; the cover bear’s shirt + small starfish on collar identify it as a bear-named-Starfish. Forward-canon connection unclear — possibly a one-off character (chapter-opener splashes are often non-canon comedy).
- Why is the photo-board showing Luffy as X’d-out / dead? The BW Officer-Agents operationally believe Luffy is dead (Crocodile’s Yuba-burial held in their intel). The chapter’s structural irony: Luffy is on the way on an Accelegator (Ch. 180). The ambush composition is mis-calibrated against a four-Strawhat-plus-Mr-Prince threat instead of a five-Strawhat-plus-Mr-Prince threat.
- What about Eyelashes-the-camel as a Vivi-decoy? The camel-as-decoy reveal (p. 17) implies the Strawhats had Eyelashes carry a princess-cape too — but camels and Spotbills look very different; the BW Officer-Agents must have spotted at a distance with binoculars too low-resolution to distinguish. Forward-canon: is Eyelashes operationally a Strawhat-tier tactical asset for the rest of Alabasta?
- Did Bon Clay’s Mr. Prince recognition (p. 17) involve a face-library check? Bon Clay says “AND YOU’RE THAT GUY FROM…!!!” — recognizing Sanji. Either Bon Clay encountered Sanji in Rainbase (Ch. 169-170) and stored his face, or Robin’s intel-brief was specific enough to ID Sanji-as-Mr.-Prince to him. Forward-canon: Bon-Clay-vs-Sanji set-piece will reveal the answer.
