Summary

The Rolling Pirates — a band of Moria’s shadow-victims led by Captain Lola “the Proposer” — find Luffy and explain the state of the battle: Moria is piloting the giant special zombie Oars from inside its stomach, Oars carries Luffy’s stolen shadow, and every victim’s shadow returns only if Moria is beaten, all before sunrise. Having learned to catch loose shadows by hand (salting zombies to eject them), they pour their stockpile into Luffy; he withstands an unprecedented 100 shadows and becomes the towering “Nightmare Luffy,” each shadow’s combat skill stacking onto his own. He charges Oars, who — via Moria’s newly-named Shadow Revolution, which forces Oars’s body to copy his rubber-stretched shadow — fights back with Luffy’s own Gum-Gum techniques and even rolls into an “Oars Ball.” On the other front, Nami, Usopp and Brook combine attacks (Dark Cloud Tempo charge + Stag Beetle Sling launch + a lightning-fast Gavotte Bond en Avant) to blast through Oars and open him up for Zoro’s Tower Climb; Robin finishes by clamping Oars in a forest of hands — “Your Shadow Revolution… is over.” A Vol. 48 SBS Question Corner closes the chapter, confirming Captain John’s grisly backstory and that Brook is a fencer.
