Summary
The Skypiea arc closes. With the 400-year war over and the Straw Hats having “stolen the gold and run,” Conis recounts that the crew “ran off on us” before anyone could thank them, and the Skypieans (chattering, sentimental) mourn that their saviors slipped away (pp. 2–3). In the ruins, Raki trims a reluctant Luffy’s hair while Aisa watches; Robin reflects that there are “warriors that strong in the Blue Sea too,” and Aisa says she wants to be like Luffy when she grows up — “our days of taking up weapons have come to an end” (pp. 3–4). At the Golden Bell, Wyper kneels before the great altar and vows to the late Great Warrior Kalgara that his wish “reached his friend,” that the fighting has ended but the Shandians “will not lose our pride,” and swears “to never again let the light of Shandora be extinguished” (pp. 4–5). Down in the White Sea at Cloud’s End, the crew — bickering happily over how to spend the loot (Chopper wants medicine books, Sanji booze, Nami a refrigerator) — reaches the edge of the cloud and prepares the descent (pp. 6–7). After farewells with Conis, Pagaya, Gan Fall and the others, the crew loads the gold and inflates Nami’s giant Octo-balloon, a Sky Island specialty, to break their fall; the South Bird (“Don’t Forget Me”) is brought along (pp. 8–13). As they drift down, the Golden Bell of Shandora tolls in send-off — “ring it!” / “it’s ringing today” — and the Skypieans, Shandians, Conis and Gan Fall wave the Straw Hats off (pp. 14–17). A closing montage frames Skypiea as “the country of the kami, above the clouds,” whose bell “rings again tomorrow,” as the crew lands back in the Blue Sea, the bell still clanging.
New reveals
- The crew’s descent vehicle is Nami’s Octo-balloon — an octopus-shaped balloon, described on-page as a “Sky Island specialty” — used to slow the long drop from the cloud’s edge back to the Blue Sea (pp. 11–13).
- The crew brought the South Bird with them up to the sky; its perch bears a note reading “Don’t Forget Me” (p. 9). (The South Bird’s vault note had it last seen @0235; this advances it into the sky.)
- The Golden Bell of Shandora is rung as a farewell as the crew leaves — “It’s ringing today” (pp. 14–17). The first on-page toll/ringing of the recovered bell (it was found, but not rung, in Ch. 301).
- Wyper swears a vow at the bell: “I swear to never again let the light of Shandora be extinguished” (pp. 4–5) — closing the Shandian-warrior arc.

Notable panels
- p. 1 — Title splash “Chapter 302: FINALE.” Cover story: Ace’s Great Search for Blackbeard, Vol. 27 — “The Navy cooks from the galley vessel were Moda’s parents.” A mustached Marine cook hugged by a woman and child (Moda’s family) amid two spotted milk cows in a village pasture. (Continues the galley-ship serial; Vol. 26 was the milk-buying galley in Ch. 301.)
- pp. 2–3 — Skypieans lament the Straw Hats left without accepting thanks: “Our saviors ran off on us.” Aisa is teased for not telling anyone goodbye.
- pp. 3–4 — Raki trims Luffy’s hair; Aisa: “I wanna be like him when I grow up.” Robin: “to think there are warriors that strong in the Blue Sea too.” Aisa narration: “our days of taking up weapons have come to an end.”
- pp. 4–5 — Wyper at the Golden Bell altar: “…the sacred duty of the Shandians has been fulfilled. / Great Warrior Kalgara… your wish reached your friend… / I swear to never again… let the light of Shandora be extinguished!!”
- p. 6 — Caption “Lower Skypiea, the White Sea.” The crew celebrates the gold haul and bickers over spending it (Chopper: medicine books; Sanji: booze; Nami: refrigerator; Usopp/Luffy: cannons / a bronze statue).
- p. 7 — “That’s Cloud’s End!!” — the crew reaches the edge of the cloud, where the Milky Road runs down to the Blue Sea; they plan to pass through the gate and descend.
- p. 8 — Farewells: “Conis and Old Guy and White-thing, take care!”; the gold is carried inside the ship; “We’re five miles up, so it’s gotta be a steep slope.”
- p. 9 — The South Bird brought along on a perch, note reading “Don’t Forget Me.”
- pp. 11–13 — Nami inflates the giant Octo-balloon (“Sky Island specialty”) with a Breath-Dial-style “BWOOOO!!”; it deploys (“TA-DOOM!!”) and slows the descent.
- pp. 14–17 — The Golden Bell tolls in send-off: “CLAAANG!!” repeated; “send off our saviors with that beautiful song”; Skypieans/Shandians/Conis/Gan Fall wave: “Luffy!! Come back again!!” / “See you again!!”
- pp. 15–16 — Closing montage: “The country of the kami, above the clouds… 10,000 meters up… if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of a bell. It will ring again tomorrow. It’s ringing today.”
- p. 17 — The Octo-balloon drifts down into the Blue Sea with the bell still clanging.
Open questions raised
- (None new — this is a clean arc-finale chapter. Forward hooks — the Poneglyph/Poseidon/Roger reveals — were planted in Ch. 301, not re-stated here.)
Cover serial “Ace’s Great Search for Blackbeard, Vol. 27” (p. 1): “The Navy cooks from the galley vessel were Moda’s parents.” Continues the galley-ship sub-plot from Vol. 26 (Ch. 301, the milk-buying galley). A Marine cook reunites with his family (woman + child = Moda) in a pasture with spotted milk cows. Watch whether the serial wraps as the main story leaves Skypiea, or runs on into the Blue Sea / next (Long Ring Long Land) leg.
-
“Octo-balloon” (pp. 11–13) — Nami’s octopus-shaped descent balloon, called a “Sky Island specialty.” Worth a Dial/Skypiea-tech etymology check (octopus tako-balloon? relation to Breath/Flavor Dials inflating it).
-
No new personal names this chapter; Raki = Laki (VIZ R↔L) already glossed.
-
Page 12 (full-page) — the descending Octo-balloon silhouette amid clouds (“DROP?”): the row of dark teardrop/eye shapes trailing across the clouds is the balloon’s tentacles in shadow. Compare against later Sky-Island / balloon-descent imagery and any recurring octopus motif (Hatchan / Surume).
-
The “country of the kami, above the clouds / look up on a whim” closing montage (pp. 15–16) is a candidate mirror for later “look up at the sky” beats — note the composition for cross-referencing.
