Chapter 858: Meeting

With three-and-a-half hours left before the tea party, the would-be assassins of Big Mom assemble at the Firetank Pirates’ base. In the Great Kitchen of Whole Cake Chateau, head chef Streusen sings over the wedding cake; in the Eastern Cove, a recovering Pekoms grows suspicious of the “luggage” being moved at night and insists on reporting to Mama, only to be restrained by his crewmates. Luffy, Sanji, Chopper and Brook reach Bege’s castle, greeted by the Germa-fanboy gunman Vito; in the women’s bath Chiffon tells Nami and Carrot the story behind her family — that she is Lola’s identical twin, that Lola fled an arranged marriage to Prince Loki of Elbaf (the alliance Big Mom craved to end her feud with the giants), and that Big Mom abused Chiffon so cruelly she feels nothing about the plot to kill her. Bege convenes the “meeting”: he and the Straw Hats negotiate whether to ally. Luffy sniffs out an invisible Caesar Clown — now posing as Bege’s “blood brother” Gastino — and after Luffy demands the right to punch Bege for shooting Pekoms, the uneasy alliance is sealed. With three hours twenty until the party, Bege says he has the plan arranged in exacting detail.
