Profile

The all-female pirate crew of Amazon Lily, captained by the Pirate Empress Boa Hancock — herself one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. The crew is drawn from the finest warriors of the Kuja tribe, including Hancock’s sisters Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold and the warrior Marguerite. First described (as the island’s all-female crew) Ch. 515; named on-page Ch. 516.

Notable events

• Ch. 516 — First named on-page. Amazon Lily fields a single pirate ship, hauled across the Calm Belt by poisonous sea-snakes called Yuda, which the giant Neptunians will not attack (p. 5). Even pirates and merchants flee at the sight of the Kuja flag (p. 10). Crews of the ships the Kuja attack are found petrified — “just strange stone effigies… never a living soul aboard” (p. 16).
• Ch. 517 — Homecoming. The crew returns to Amazon Lily to cheers of “Welcome back, Kuja Pirates!!” (p. 2), laden with loot — iron ore, gunpowder, grog, crops, and captured merchant and pirate ships (pp. 2-4). The officer Genista reports the haul (and the loose “fierce monkey”) to Empress Hancock on her return. Other members named at the homecoming include Ran and Daisy.
• Ch. 521 — The crew predates Hancock’s captaincy: the Boa sisters were abducted at age 12 “from a ship of the Kuja pirates” by the Celestial Dragons (p. 14) — establishing the Kuja Pirates as a long-standing institution of Amazon Lily before Hancock and her sisters rose to lead it.
• Ch. 522 — Hancock has captained the crew for 11 years (since becoming empress; p. 6) and offers to sail Luffy off the island “in the ship of the Kuja Pirates” (p. 2) — ultimately agreeing to ferry him toward Impel Down aboard the Navy battleship sent to summon her. Members at the bedside include Genista and Marguerite; the two Gorgon Sisters are present but unnamed this chapter.
• Ch. 575 — Marineford war. Captain Boa Hancock, present at the war with her snake Salome, worries openly over Luffy as the battlefield terrain collapses and the pirate ships retreat — “Salome! I’m worried about Luffy!” (p. 12). Cross-link Marine Headquarters.
• Ch. 581 — Post-War. Hancock’s crew (aboard the commandeered Marine ship) tows Law’s submarine across the Calm Belt to shelter Luffy on Amazon Lily.
• Ch. 594 — Post-War. The Kuja (Hancock, Marigold, Sandersonia, Nyon) tend and guard the recovering Luffy at sea while he waits for his coded “message” to reach his scattered crew (p. 15).
• Ch. 602 — Covering the Straw Hats’ departure. Led by Hancock, the Kuja ship intercepts a Marine warship at Sabaody and sinks its volley to cover the Straw Hats’ submerging dive to Fish-Man Island; the Kuja women also charm / blow kisses at the Marines to stall the cordon (pp. 8-9, 14).
• Ch. 1059 — Post-Wano: the Amazon Lily siege + a lineage reveal. The present-day Kuja fight off the Navy’s siege of Amazon Lily (p.6). Bio-box reveal: Shakuyaku was a former captain of the Kuja Pirates and Empress of Amazon Lily two generations ago (p.16) — adding an earlier-generation captain to the crew’s lineage.
• Ch. 1157 — Shakuyaku’s captaincy, shown in flashback. ~42 years ago the world papers announce Shakuyaku stepped down as captain of the Kuja Pirates (out of lovesickness), devastating fans on Fullalead (pp. 12, 14). Her Kuja crewmate Tritoma sees her off (“Take care, captain!!” / “Thank you, Tritoma. I’ll take it from here.”). Also confirmed: Gloriosa left the Kuja Pirates (for love) and joined the Rocks Pirates. Deepens the Kuja captaincy lineage (Shakuyaku → … → Hancock). See Shakky, Rocks and God Valley.
• Ch. 1159 — God Valley flashback: the Kuja mourn their kidnapped Empress. The Kuja (“Kuja Pirates Empress” banner) grieve the kidnapping of former Empress Shakuyaku (“Shakky…!!”), 39 yrs ago at Fullalead. The golden-age Kuja Pirates — the seas’ most famous idols of the great pirate age — shown in the Ch. 1156 flashback. Their bounty posters were traded for great sums, and Roger repeatedly raided them chasing Shakuyaku (pp. 3–11).
