A land the Wano samurai (Kin’emon, Kanjuro, a third samurai, and the boy Momonosuke) were sailing toward when shipwrecked (p. 10). Law reacts sharply on hearing the name: “My people are there.” Both the samurai’s mission and Law’s hidden destination converge on Zou. Named only; not yet shown.

Etymology

Zou (ゾウ／象, Zō) is literally the Japanese word for “elephant” — a directly descriptive toponym, since the country is a land grown on the back of a colossal living elephant. The manga confirms it on-page in a footnote (“Zou is literally the Japanese word for ‘elephant’”, Ch. 802 p. 15). The name pre-encodes the reveal: the elephant-island was teased years before its on-page debut on the Ch 569 cover page (an elephant wearing a snowcap with “Zou” written on it) — a long-fuse name-etymology seed paid off when Zou is first shown (Ch. 802) and reached (Ch. 804). Zou — first shown (Ch. 802)

• Cannot be tracked with a Log Pose (not real land); heavy mist + reverse sea currents repel intruders (p. 13, 15).
• Home to the secretive Mink Tribe, who have kept humankind away for ~1,000 years (p. 16). (Named to the cast; no mink shown on-page yet — the first mink is @0804.)

Zou — the crew climbs the elephant (Ch. 803)

• Luffy’s group, Law, and the Wano samurai (Kin’emon, Kanjuro) climb the giant living elephant’s back-left leg toward the island that has flourished amid the clouds atop its back, as it wades the open sea (p. 12). Kin’emon confirms Zou was the samurai’s destination “from the start.” (Not a first appearance — Zou was first SHOWN @0802; the elephant itself is shown but NOT named on-page yet — the name “Zunesha” is forward.)

Zou — the country explored; the ghost-town found (Ch. 804)

• Luffy’s group climbs to the top of the elephant’s leg and discovers Zou is a full country — forests, rivers, towns, a lookout tower, and a great front gate — riding on the back of the living, thousand-year-old giant elephant (p. 7-11). (First SHOWN was @0802; this is the on-page exploration of the country itself.)
• The country has been attacked: the front gate is snapped off its hinges (p. 12), a wide “trail of destruction” runs through the forest (p. 13, “too wide to be an animal trail”), the town is abandoned and “falling apart” (p. 14), reeking of “gunpowder… and maybe gas” (p. 15). Zou — the Mink homeland shown; named as the razed nation (Ch. 805)

• The full Mink Tribe is shown on-page across the land (rabbit/dog/bull/gorilla/polar-bear minks); Zou is home to the centuries-old Mokomo Dukedom. Sub-locations named/shown: Whale Forest (the Forbidden Forest), Kurau City (“the middle of the elephant’s back”), plus Rightflank Forest, Righttrump Forest and the Deep Dark Swamp (pp. 4–17).

Zou — the elephant named; the rain-ruption explained (Ch. 806)

• The land is revealed to ride on the back of the colossal elephant Zunesha (VIZ caption, p. 5), which bathes itself twice a day; the resulting seawater flood — the “rain-ruption” — is filtered at the city center and piped through aqueducts as the land’s drinking water, also carrying fish for food (pp. 2–5).
• Sub-areas: the Whale Forest is governed by the Cat Viper and contains the Rightflank Fortress (entered with the “WELCOMING BELL”); Kurau City is a principal city built to handle the precise flood level (pp. 5–6, 11).
• The Mink Tribe — far from the “human-hating species” of their reputation — welcome the crew warmly with the “Garchu” greeting and a feast; the wrecked ships and ruined cityscape of Jack’s assault are shown (pp. 12–16).

Zou — the two kings; the Bear Forest named (Ch. 807)

• Zou’s back hosts the Mokomo Dukedom, home of the Mink Tribe, which “has two kings”: the King of the Day, Duke Dogstorm, and the King of the Night, the Cat Viper (whose domain is the Whale Forest, ruling after sundown — Luffy’s group arrives at night and is led into his forest) (pp. 14–15).

Zou — the razing dramatized; the Caesar gas weapon revealed (Ch. 808)

• In Wanda’s flashback, the Mokomo Dukedom on Zou’s back is shown destroyed ~2 weeks earlier by Kaido’s Animal Kingdom Pirates (led by Jack the Drought), who breached Kurau City hunting the Wano ninja Raizo and used one of Caesar Clown’s gas weapons (pp. 4, 17). The minks’ two-king rule is shown — Duke Dogstorm, King of the Day, at his sanatorium. See Destruction of Zou.

Zou — the Sunny group reaches the island; the gas-choked dukedom (Ch. 810)

• The Sunny group (Nami, Chopper, Brook, Momonosuke, the captive Caesar Clown) climbs the colossal living elephant’s leg to reach Zou (the creature unnamed in this scene) and finds the Mokomo Dukedom a gas-choked, ruined land — recently sieged for five days by Jack (poison gas, crucifixions, tortured minks) (pp. 12–17). The two rulers are named — Duke Dogstorm and the Cat Viper — and the gravely wounded Pedro begs the crew to save them. See Destruction of Zou, Minks.

Zou — the living-island reveal; the Big Mom Pirates breach it (Ch. 811)

• In Wanda’s flashback, the gas-choked Kurau City is scrubbed clean by Caesar’s Roko counteragent, and Chopper leads a mass detox that saves the minks. In the present, the Whale Forest is established as the night-king’s domain (the Cat Viper) (p. 16).
• Zou is confirmed a living animal — an island so hidden you “can’t even find it with a Log Pose, much less reach it” (p. 18). Two days ago the Big Mom Pirates breached it via a lion-mink native guide (p. 19). See The Big Mom Pirates Track Hidden Zou Through A Native Crewmember.

Zou — the ancestral fortress; the Big Mom contingent active on the island (Ch. 812)

• The Mokomo Dukedom is shown as a layout of fortresses; its Right-Flank Fortress is described as “a living space once used by our ancestors long ago” (p. 3). Narration confirms Zunisha “has carried the entire history of Minkdom on its back” since ancient times (p. 3).
• Jack of the Animal Kingdom Pirates is again blamed for the dukedom’s devastation (p. 6). On the island, the Big Mom Pirates’ Bege contingent captures Caesar Clown, Nami and Chopper and delivers the wedding invitation (pp. 10-17).

Zou — Bege’s contingent departs; Jack’s remnants blamed (Ch. 813)

• On the island, Capone Bege’s Firetank Pirates (serving Big Mom) deliver the wedding invitation and depart in a “Castle Tank” carrying Sanji and the captive Caesar Clown (pp. 13, 16). A crewmate says the island “was attacked by some of Jack’s remnants,” leaving Pekoms gravely wounded (p. 15). A giant mink looms over Bege’s castle (p. 15).

Zou — the Whale Forest’s Guardians’ Dwelling; the day/night split (Ch. 814)

• Zou’s day/night division is reaffirmed: the Cat Viper rules the Whale Forest (night), Duke Dogstorm the Mokomo Dukedom / Kurau side (day). In the Whale Forest, the Guardians’ Dwelling sits beneath a giant whale-shaped tree (the “Whale Tree”) — also wrecked by Jack’s attack (pp. 10–12).
• The Heart Pirates (Bepo’s group) and the wounded Pekoms shelter on the island; the recovering Cat Viper lost his left paw in Jack’s raid. See Destruction of Zou.

Zou — the Germa/Big Mom briefing; the samurai arrive at dawn (Ch. 815)

• In the Whale Forest, Pekoms briefs the Straw Hats on the Vinsmoke/Big Mom marriage; Luffy resolves to leave with Pekoms to crash the wedding; the Cat Viper calls a feast (pp. 2–14).
• Through the night the combined crews keep the visiting samurai out of the Mokomo Dukedom; at dawn Kin’emon and Kanjuro arrive seeking the warrior Raizo (pp. 15–17).

Zou — the Dog-vs-Cat clash; the Mink–Kozuki brotherhood (Ch. 816)

• On Zou’s Mokomo Dukedom, the two mink rulers — Dogstorm and the Cat Viper — collide in Kurau City over the hunt for a hidden samurai; the dukedom’s districts (Whale Forest, Kurau City, Right-Flank Fortress) are named (p. 2–6).
• The minks reveal they let their millennium-old city fall to ruin rather than betray a hidden comrade — Raizo is alive and well — because they are ancient sworn brothers of Wano’s Kozuki Clan (p. 15–17). Zou — Kurau City + the whale-tree; Raizo found; the red poneglyph (Ch. 817)

• Kurau City is shown again (p. 1); the great whale-tree — the “Guardians’ Dwelling” — is climbed to find Raizo, found alive chained within it (pp. 10–17).

Zou — Zunisha revealed sentient; sinks Jack’s fleet (Ch. 821)

• The island-bearing elephant Zunisha is revealed sentient and defends itself, sinking Jack’s attacking five-ship fleet with a single trunk-swing on Momonosuke’s order (pp. 10–16). Zou — Oden-era flashback: the final Road Poneglyph (Ch. 967)

• The Roger Pirates reached Zou by Vivre Card (from Dogstorm & Cat Viper) and found the final Road Poneglyph behind the Kozuki crest in the Whale Forest, learning the Kozuki and Minks were “brothers” (p. 15). The crew sensed Zunisha (“something huge is watching us,” p. 14).
