Summary
Word that Luffy has fallen into the sea off Onigashima — defeated by Kaido — races across the Skull Dome and shatters the alliance’s morale. On the Live Floor, Queen rains down a Candy Shower of arrows on the despairing samurai, but Sanji intervenes, using a Diable Jambe “Rotisserie” spin-kick to deflect the volley and shield everyone; Queen recognizes him as “Judge’s son.” Sanji praises a tearful Chopper for holding the line, entrusts the gravely wounded Zoro to allies (“he’s got the strength of ten when he’s healthy”), and squares off against Queen alone. Beneath the castle, in the first-floor crawl space, Kaido corners Momonosuke and Shinobu and offers a devil’s bargain: he will hide Momonosuke’s Kozuki bloodline and raise him as his own son — if the boy will call him “Father.” Momonosuke refuses; clutching a frog and weeping, he proclaims himself Kozuki Momonosuke and broadcasts Luffy’s words across the battlefield — Luffy is alive and will return to win — restoring the alliance’s will to fight as they roar back. Kaido, recognizing him as the son of Oden, pursues, but Shinobu’s “Ripe-Ripe Jutsu” spirits Momonosuke away. On the Live Floor, allies spot a body in the sea and debate whether Straw Hat survives; Nami discovers her Climate Baton can now talk (Zeus has taken up residence inside it), while Big Mom scoffs that anyone who fell into the sea is “dead for sure.” The chapter closes with Law proposing a temporary alliance to Kid; the two strike at Kaido, and Yamato drops in declaring she has come “to cut those chains” — to which Kaido sneers, ”…I think you mean Father.”
New reveals
- Luffy’s defeat is now public knowledge. “Straw Hat lost?!” spreads across the dome; the samurai despair (“So is it pointless to keep fighting?!”). This is the morale-collapse Kaido predicted in Ch. 1013.
- Kaido’s offer to Momonosuke: he will keep the Kozuki bloodline secret and raise Momonosuke as his own son — but only if the boy renounces “Lord” and calls him “Father.” A bid to claim the last Kozuki as his own child.
- Momonosuke openly claims the Kozuki name — ”…Kozuki Momonosuke!!!” — and relays Luffy’s rallying message verbatim to the whole island: “Luffy is alive!!! …Continue the fight!!! No matter how hard and painful it is… So keep fighting!!! To beat Kaido!!! To WIN!!!”
- Kaido recognizes Momonosuke as “Son of Oden?!”
- Queen recognizes Sanji as Vinsmoke Judge’s son (“It’s you… you’re Judge’s son!!”). A fellow mad scientist clocks the Germa bloodline.
- Zeus now inhabits Nami’s Climate Baton, which talks and retains his doting personality (“My Climate Baton… just talked!!” / “Heh heh ♡”). The fuller payoff of his defection to Nami.
- Law proposes a temporary alliance with Kid to attack Kaido together; Yamato arrives at Kaido’s position “to cut those chains.”

Open questions raised
- Will Luffy survive falling unconscious into the sea, and who will pull him out?
- What does Yamato mean by coming “to cut those chains,” and will she side openly against Kaido now?
- Can the Law–Kid temporary alliance actually wound Kaido?
- How did Zeus end up inside Nami’s Climate Baton after being drained to a husk?
- Why does Queen take such pointed interest in Sanji being a Vinsmoke?
