Summary

Cover-art (p. 1): a Django cover-serial installment (banner-caption absent this volume) — Django (heart-glasses, braid, Marine coat) operates a film camera atop a giant St. Bernard dog at a tropical estate, while a young girl pets a goggled walrus-creature beside it. Read as Vol. 20 of the Dance Heaven serial.

Now you scared him off!!’. The rehabilitation collides with the still-operative baby monster reaction — Chopper’s heart-wound is reinforced even after Dalton’s public credit.

Pp. 11-13 — Kureha forcibly drags Sanji back to the infirmary; Sanji has been carrying the recovering Nami away from treatment because if I go back there, we’ll have to wait two more days before we can set sail for Alabasta. Kureha-Dalton dialogue: ‘Dalton, do you know where the key… to the castle’s weapons store-room is?’ / ‘Wapol always kept that key on his person. If that’s still true, then it went flying with him.’ (cashes the Ch. 150 Nami-pickpocket subplot — the key really did vanish off Wapol’s person; Dalton doesn’t yet know Nami stole it.)

Pp. 13-14 — Kureha demands the Straw Hat ship’s treasure as payment. Nami offers to trade the stolen key for releasing the crew (Kureha’s bargaining with me line; she cackles and accepts: ‘Your account is paid in full.’). But she refuses to release them: ‘As a doctor, I can’t.’

Pp. 15 — Kureha then uses a reverse-permission gambit: ‘I’m going downstairs for a while. My coat is in a drawer in the back room. And the boy with the broken back’s treatment is complete. And I don’t have any guards posted. However, don’t… try to sneak away!’ — operationally permits the escape while preserving the witch register. Sanji and Nami catch the cue.

Pp. 16-18 — Chopper hovers outside the castle as the full moon rises over the snowscape. Luffy declares: ‘I’m bringing him with us!! Yeah… against his will!!!’ / ‘Let’s be pirates together!!!’. Chopper protests through tears: ‘And a blue nose!!! I have antlers!! And hooves!!! But… I’m a reindeer!!!’ / ‘I’m a monster!!!’ / ‘I can never be part of your group!!!’ / ‘But I’m not human like you are!!’. Then — the recruitment-pivot — Nami: ‘Well… Can you heal his heart?’ / Chopper: ‘Of course I want to be a pirate!!’. Chopper bows in tearful gratitude (‘But I wanted to thank you!!!’ / ‘I’m going to stay here. But please… thank you… for asking me.’) — Sanji: ‘Come back some-day… when you feel like it.’ Hiriluk’s pirate-flag is visible flying over the castle behind them.
