Chapter 847: Luffy and Big Mom

Summary

In Brulee’s Mirro-World, Chopper (transformed to Monster Point) rescues Carrot from Charlotte Brulee, who had tied them up for “Mama’s collection of freaks.” At Whole Cake Chateau in the capital Sweet City, Big Mom gives guests a tour of her prison library — rare creatures (a man-eating Manticore escaped from Impel Down, a unicorn, a griffon, a centaur from Punk Hazard, long-limbed humans) sealed alive into book-pages by her son Mont-d’Or’s power. A guest notes that her “nation of all species,” Totto Land, has no giants — striking a nerve. Perospero, eldest son of the Charlotte Family, presents the captured Luffy and Nami in the prison library. Big Mom confronts them: she will keep Luffy here until Sanji and Pudding’s wedding is done, gloats over the Tamate Box she took from Neptune at Fish-Man Island (to be opened at tomorrow’s tea party), and flies into a rage when Nami reveals her friend Lola — the daughter who spurned the greatest political marriage Big Mom ever arranged and fled — is the source of her Vivre Card. Big Mom laments that had Lola married, she would already be King of the Pirates, having destroyed Kaido, Red-Hair, and Whitebeard. Meanwhile Pedro infiltrates the castle and is intercepted by Baron Tamago as “a very special live performance” begins.

• Lola = Big Mom’s daughter. The Rolling Pirates captain from Thriller Bark is the runaway daughter who refused the political marriage Big Mom set up; the Vivre Card she gave Nami is “Big Mom’s” card. Big Mom wants Lola dead despite Lola “doing fine” (p. 13-15).
