Thriller Bark (Ch. 445) — the legend deepens (still named, not shown)

• His legend is built up further: a world-famous master surgeon who “gained all the fame and fortune a doctor can imagine” and saved countless lives with miraculous surgeries, then mysteriously vanished (“went missing or was kidnapped… he just vanished”) and is now rumored to “still be conducting research beyond the scope of mankind” on this island (pp. 3-4). Thriller Bark (Ch. 446) — first on-page appearance; the genius surgeon in his mansion

• The mansion is explicitly named as his — “Dr. Hogback’s Mansion” (p. 7). Revered by Chopper as a great surgeon (“Dr. Hogback is a great man! Thriller Bark (Ch. 450) — triggers the “night hunt”; fields the Zombie General Ryuma

• Confronted by Nami with the accusation that he revives the dead and that his servant “Victoria Cindry” died ten years ago, he does not deny it — deflecting with “On what evidence do you base your accusations?!” before dropping the room into darkness (pp. 2-3). • Commands his elite servants by name — Cindry (who seals the room from all light) and the Zombie General Ryuma — to “drop them into the world of darkness,” triggering the “night hunt” (p. 3).
• Delivers the exposition on the Zombie Generals: Ryuma “is on a completely different level than the other zombies,” “has a very special body,” and “hearkens from the Wano Country of the New World”; relays the legend that Ryuma “slew a flying dragon” (pp. 4-5). Thriller Bark (Ch. 455) — confirmed as the missing celebrity surgeon; protective of Cindry at the dance hall

• Confirmed (via Brook) to be the famous physician who “went missing” to work for a pirate: a talented surgeon who builds powerful zombie bodies from the parts of various creatures and keeps a freezer of preserved marionette corpses of legendary warriors (pp. 8-9). • Blocks the path to Moria; recognizes Chopper as a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user (“I knew you were a strange creature”) and covets his shadow, threatening to turn him into a marionette corpse (pp. 3-6).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 468) — origin revealed: the genius surgeon broken by Victoria Cindry’s death

• Restates his zombie rule before Chopper: fully body+shadow-fused zombies keep no memory of their former crew, have “no iota of humanity,” and obey orders absolutely; sends Cindry to “finish them off” (p. 3).
• Full backstory. A world-famous genius surgeon begged the world over to save the dying (“please save my father / my child”); insists he operated only out of ego, “I’m simply a genius!” (pp. 5-6). He fell in love with the celebrated theater actress Victoria Cindry, who was kind, popular and humble but turned down his marriage proposal, claiming she was engaged to someone else; soon after, she died in a fatal fall, and his grief (not compassion) made him abandon medicine entirely (pp. 7-8). • How he joined Moria. Gecko Moria then appeared and offered to revive Cindry’s corpse with his “miraculous powers”; Hogback boarded his ship, exhumed her, and made her his obedient zombie — indifferent to her erased personality “as long as her body was still beautiful” (p. 9). This is the on-page origin of Hogback’s allegiance to Moria/Thriller Bark.
• Tries to recruit Chopper as his “assistant,” orders Cindry then the zombies Inuppe and Jigoro of the Wind to kill (“destroy all who get in your way!!”), and — when Robin out-maneuvers him — rages “you tricked me! …you pieces of human trash!!” (pp. 10-18).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 469)

• Rages that Cindry’s body won’t obey and at Chopper for siding with the corpses (“You’re not even human! Suplexed by the Robi-cho combo (pp. 5), then he and Cindry fall to a lower floor and are caught under rubble as Oars stomps the tower; he shrieks for Cindry to save his “genius brain” but she will not move (pp. 10-11).

• A panicking zombie reports “Dr. Hogback was crushed by Oars too!!” (p. 6). Hogback is not shown on-page — treat as an unconfirmed in-world claim; status unchanged.

Thriller Bark — aftermath (Ch. 483) — survives; rouses Absalom

• Shown alive in the wreckage: slaps Absalom awake and grasps the situation — with the shadows gone and Moria defeated, “Thriller Bark is useless now”; resolves not to “live the rest of my life a washed-up loser,” setting up the survivors’ next move (p. 11).

Thriller Bark — escape (Ch. 486)

• Aboard the fleeing island, reads the newspaper aloud (Ace captured / Blackbeard’s Warlord nomination) and demands a living wife rather than a zombie — “I want a real, living woman!!!” (p. 3).
