Summary

On Elbaf’s surface (the “Sun World”), the giant warriors have been twisted into rampaging demons — dark “all the way to their core” — and turn on their own, seeking to force the world’s oldest warrior Chief Jarul into retirement, “bring about the age of war,” and become “the kings of Elbaf” with “no need for the God of Elbaf.” The Holy Knight St. Killingham (dubbed “the Great One”; established Ch. 1140), directs the carnage: his Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Mythical Type, Model: Kirin (man-beast form) “flips” the giants like pieces on a game board into his “sleeptids,” gloating that Elbaf “created these monsters yourself” and that only King Harald’s “miserable failure” kept the nation from being “subjugated years ago.” Rewinding “many minutes earlier” to the Underworld, Chopper falls from the Sun World clutching the gravely wounded old giant “Mr. Ya”; Hajrudin rages at the chained Loki for killing “my father” Harald (“he was my father too!!”), while Loki takes a farewell call from his snail-friend “Shaggy,” who thanks him “for everything” and warns he’ll be unable to call for a while. As Chopper stabilizes Mr. Ya, the giants reveal the old man’s identity: he sailed with Roger and Rayleigh as one of the “Wings of the King of the Pirates,” was the crew’s third- (he insists second-) strongest, and knows Shanks — the enemy called him “Gaban.” The chapter ends as an overwhelming, unidentified Haki floods the Underworld and terrifies the demon-giants (“Whose preposterous Haki is that?!”); Luffy calls everyone back onto the lift (“Elbaph’s in danger!!”), and Loki laughs, “Looks like you’re going to need me after all!!!”
