Hitman of the New Fish-Man Pirates; a blue-ringed octopus merman swordsman — “the swordsman with the octopus legs” (caption Ch. 610 p. 5).

Gives his full self-introduction at last: “Hyouzou, the master of the Octopus Eight Swords Style” and “the best on Fish-Man Island,” wielding poison blades and boasting of his many limbs / poison fangs (p. 18). Zoro, who keeps calling the octopus a “frog,” cuts him down with Purgatory Oni Giri (pp. 18-19).

The eight-armed (octopus) swordsman is dropped by Zoro in one strike, dismissed as “not even worth killing time” (p. 19).

Downs Energy Steroids with his liquor and transforms into a monster (“Now Hyouzou’s a monster too!!”), unleashing his drunken “Tottering Hash” — even the kingdom’s steel can’t stop him (pp. 17–18). Singled out by Zoro as his opponent — Zoro claims him (“Sorry, this one’s mine”) and sizes him up as “a good warm-up before we head into the New World” (p. 19).

Caption-introduced as the Blue-Ringed Octopus Merman (p. 7), a slurring “killer drunk” swordsman wielding six blades; rampages through the Fish-Man Cultural Hall in the south while threatening to “cut up some Neptunes” (pp. 6-7).

Revealed as a mercenary swordsman / hitman (octopus merman) — Arlong “couldn’t afford” him; Hody Jones now pays him. Says he respected Arlong’s strength but found him “rough and lacked finesse” (pp. 8-9).

Revealed (in recap) to have been the only one who blocked Luffy’s attack during the earlier fight and poisoned Luffy with his venom (pp. 4-5); Luffy survived unknowingly because his blood already carries antibodies from Magellan’s Impel Down poison — “This venom is really strong but you already have antibodies for it.”
