Profile
A vast candy/sweets forest on the southwest coast of Whole Cake Island, part of Big Mom’s territory, named on-page Ch. 831 (p. 17). Everything in it is edible — a cream floor, candy flowers, a donut bridge, a melon-juice river — yet the woods themselves are alive and predatory: a clothed, talking crocodile that calls the crew “just humans,” fake/vanishing copies of Sanji, a mirror-image Luffy with reversed scars, a giant face buried in the ground that bargains for apple juice, and trees that speak. Compasses and clocks malfunction inside it (direction and time are distorted). The forest deliberately lures and traps intruders — “Block the exit! We’ll play them to death!”
Etymology
- Surface meaning: 誘惑の森 (Yūwaku no Mori) = “Forest of Temptation/Seduction.” 誘惑 (yūwaku) = “seduction, temptation, allure”; 森 (mori) = “forest, woods.” VIZ renders it “The Seducing Woods.” The name literally encodes the woods’ mechanic shown on-page Ch. 831: an all-edible candy forest that tempts intruders to eat it (cream floor, candy flowers, donut bridge, melon-juice river) but then turns predatory and lures them to their death.
- Real-world references: the forest’s disorientation (spinning compasses, whirling clocks — direction and time stop working, p. 17) and its sentient, menacing plants point to Tulgey Wood from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and to the dark forest in Disney’s Snow White where the trees and plants appear to attack. The candy-people / city-of-sweets idea echoes Disney’s Silly Symphonies — Flowers and Trees (1932, a forest of sentient plants) and The Cookie Carnival (1935, a city built of sweets inhabited by candy folk).
- Theme layer: the “temptation” reading folds into Big Mom’s broader fairy-tale / Hansel-and-Gretel motif — the candy house that lures children in to be eaten — consistent with the Charlotte sweets-and-storybook naming across Whole Cake Island.
- Sources: One Piece Wiki — Seducing Woods; the candy-forest-as-Hansel-&-Gretel reading is corroborated by the arc’s pervasive Western fairy-tale framing.
Key chapters
- Ch. 831 — first appearance; the Sanji-retrieval landing party (Luffy, Nami, Chopper, Carrot) is lured in and surrounded.
- Ch. 832 — the woods’ controller is named: Charlotte Brulee (8th Charlotte daughter), “playing” the team in circles by disguising as Luffy and as trees (“they’re being played by Lady Brulee,” p.3); cranerider Randolph hunts through it (pp.5–7); Brulee captures Nami & Carrot (p.12). See Charlotte Brulee Controls The Seducing Woods And Wants To Shred Beauty.
- Ch. 834 — named in Baron Tamago’s briefing (“four of the Straw Hats have wandered into the Seducing Woods,” p. 7); shown at night (p. 17), crawling with multiplying Luffy duplicates (Brulee’s mirror-clones) and animal homie creatures as the retrieval group (Nami, Brook, Carrot) is surrounded.
- Ch. 835 — the woods’ controller’s power is named: Charlotte Brulee’s Mirror-Mirror Fruit reflects Carrot’s Electro back out of a mirror and drags her into her pocket “Mirro-World” mirror dimension (pp. 8-10). Luffy bribes a tree-homie (Big Mom’s ex-husband) for the secret of the Soru Soru no Mi and the homies; the Straw Hats split up to find Luffy under Big Mom’s order “just don’t let them meet Sanji.”
- Ch. 841 — the Luffy vs Cracker duel staged here reaches its eleventh hour (“Seducing Woods, Luffy vs. Cracker,” p.16); Luffy out-eats Cracker’s regenerating biscuit soldiers.
- Ch. 843 — after Cracker’s defeat, Luffy and Nami traverse the woods and ride a tree-homie out toward the castle to retrieve Sanji; the woods’ homies are restated as loyal to Big Mom (p. 7).
