- Firsts
- Vegapunk (via the satellite Shaka, the 'warrior in white') declares there is no such thing as a 'Gum-Gum Fruit' — it does not exist even in the oldest books of devil fruits; Luffy's power is the Mythical Zoan of the Sun God Nika, a name erased from the historical record
- Vegapunk's devil-fruit theory: 'All things are brought into this world with hope' — devil fruits embody human evolutionary desires ('if only I could be like this'), and the 'unnatural status' is loathed by the sea (the mother of nature) as a fitting punishment for its sin; all powers represent 'the many branches of the future of humanity'
- Rob Lucci awakens his devil fruit on-page: 'Cat-Cat Fruit Model: Leopard — Awakened Form,' a flame-patterned awakened Zoan; awakened Zoan powers usually absorb and control the user's personality
- The Pacifista Authority Hierarchy is revealed: 1) Five Elders, 2) Dr. Vegapunk (Stella & Satellites), 3) Sentomaru, 4) Authority Chip owners — CP0 only carries Authority Chips, so the Vegapunk side outranks them and can command the Seraphim against CP0
- The Seraphim (S-Bear, S-Shark, S-Hawk, S-Snake) are deployed; the Straw Hats note they resemble the old Seven Warlords and look like dark-skinned clones of themselves
- Sentomaru, captain of the Navy HQ Science Team, is pressured by both sides; Vegapunk appeals as 'the man who took you in and saved your life' and Sentomaru sides with Vegapunk to drive off CP0
- CP0's counter-plan to seize the Seraphim: 'we only need to erase their control tower' so the units follow CP0's orders (chapter-end cliffhanger)
- Marine HQ frames the Straw Hats landing on the government island of Egghead as a declaration of war; orders that Lucci NOT battle Straw Hat; fears Vegapunk recruiting Luffy costs them a major source of combat power; asks 'Where's Kizaru?'

Summary
On Egghead, CP0 (Lucci, Kaku, Stussy) has invaded to eliminate Vegapunk and has destroyed the satellite Atlas; Luffy recognizes “the pigeon guy,” Lucci, and charges in to protect Jewelry Bonney, whom the crew want to shield after she fed them. Stussy, unable to engage without clearance now that Straw Hat is an Emperor, orders the Navy informed before a skirmish becomes war. At Marine HQ the brass treat the Straw Hats’ arrival as a declaration of war and forbid Lucci from fighting, fearing Vegapunk has recruited Luffy. Lucci unveils his awakened leopard form, and the satellite Shaka — the “warrior in white” — drops the chapter’s central lore: there is no “Gum-Gum Fruit”; Luffy’s power is the Sun God Nika’s Mythical Zoan, a name struck from history. Vegapunk theorizes that devil fruits are “fruits of hope,” embodied human evolutionary wishes loathed by the sea as punishment. Luffy fights Lucci in Gear 5 (Mole Pistol, Hand Pistol) while Vegapunk leverages the Pacifista Authority Hierarchy — pressuring Sentomaru and commanding the Seraphim against the outranked CP0 — and arranges to spirit the Straw Hats to the Vacuum Rocket inside the Frontier Dome. CP0 counters: erase Vegapunk’s control tower to seize command of the Seraphim.
New reveals
- There is no “Gum-Gum Fruit.” Shaka/Vegapunk: the fruit “does not exist even in the oldest books of devil fruits.” Luffy’s power is the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika — the Sun God Nika, “the foolish and laughable Warrior of Liberation who brings smiles to all people,” a name “erased from the historical record.” (Re-states and broadens the Ch. 1044 true-name reveal to the wider cast.)
- Vegapunk’s devil-fruit theory — “All things are brought into this world with hope… even the devil fruits.” Each fruit is an embodied wish for human evolution (“if only I could be like this… like that”); its “unnatural status” is “loathed by the sea, the mother of nature… a fitting punishment for its sin.” All powers are “the many branches of the future of humanity,” dreamed up by someone before. Flagged as Vegapunk’s theory.
- Lucci’s awakening — caption “Cat-Cat Fruit Model: Leopard — Awakened Form,” a black-flame-patterned were-leopard. “It’s usually the case that awakened Zoan powers absorb and control the user’s personality.”
- Pacifista Authority Hierarchy (on-page diagram): 1. Five Elders → 2. Dr. Vegapunk (Stella & Satellites) → 3. Sentomaru → 4. Authority Chip owners. CP0 holds only Authority Chips, so Vegapunk’s side outranks them and commands the Seraphim (S-Bear/S-Shark/S-Hawk/S-Snake) against the agents.
- Sentomaru (titled “Navy HQ Science Team Captain”) is squeezed by CP0 (who threaten his life) and by Vegapunk (“the man who took you in and saved your life”); he sides with Vegapunk.
- Frontier Dome and the Vacuum Rocket named as the escape route the Vegapunk side uses to extract the Straw Hats.
- Marine HQ treats the Straw Hats on the government island as a declaration of war; orders Lucci to wait for the Navy and “do NOT battle Straw Hat”; asks “Where’s Kizaru?”

Open questions raised
- Can CP0 erase Vegapunk’s control tower and flip the Seraphim to their command?
- Is Vegapunk’s “fruits of hope / branches of human evolution” theory the full truth of devil-fruit origin, or partial?
- Which satellite is the “real” Vegapunk, and what is the Stella–satellite relationship (Shaka appears while “he was down there just seconds ago”)?
- Will Lucci’s awakened Zoan absorb his personality, as the narration warns?
