Name meaning
ホールケーキ城 (Hōru Kēki Shatō) — the kanji 城 (shiro, 'castle') is given the ruby gloss シャトー (shatō) = French 'château' (castle/manor); 'Whole Cake' (ホールケーキ) is the English loanword for an uncut, round whole cake. Big Mom's four-tiered castle is literally shaped like a giant whole cake, a transparent extension of the Charlotte / Big Mom confectionery naming theme and named for its host island Whole Cake Island. No real-world figure or future reveal encoded in the name.

Profile

Big Mom’s castle — a giant cake — atop Whole Cake Island in Totto Land, above the capital Sweet City. Captioned Ch. 830 p. 9; the throne room where Big Mom grants Jimbei his leave from her organization and, since she “loses a lot of power,” summons a Roulette Wheel (life/skull faces) to decide what he must lose in exchange.

Etymology

  • Surface meaning: ホールケーキ城 (Hōru Kēki Shatō). The kanji (shiro, “castle”) is printed with the ruby gloss シャトー (shatō) = French château (castle/manor); “Whole Cake” (ホールケーキ) is the English loanword for an uncut, round whole cake.
  • Theme: Big Mom’s four-tiered fortress is literally drawn as a giant whole cake — a transparent extension of the Charlotte / Big Mom confectionery naming motif, and named directly for its host island Whole Cake Island.
  • Reveal layer: none — the name is purely thematic; no real-world figure or future payoff is encoded.
  • Confidence: high. Source: One Piece Wiki — Whole Cake Chateau.

Key chapters

  • Ch. 830 — first appearance & naming; Big Mom grants Jimbei leave but demands he “lose something too,” summoning the Roulette Wheel (pp. 9–10).
  • Ch. 832 — re-shown in the southwest-coast tour (caption “BIG MOM’S CASTLE — WHOLE CAKE CHATEAU,” p.13); Lake Aprico lies behind it as a guarded checkpoint that admits the Germa fleet (pp.13–14).
  • Ch. 834 — the Queen’s Chamber (Big Mom’s throne room) is shown (pp. 12-13), where Big Mom declares her dream and meets her captive researcher Caesar Clown; she reveals she has rebuilt a Punk-Hazard-style lab out of iron-reinforced candy within her domain (p. 15). See Big Mom’s Dream.
  • Ch. 836named as the wedding venue (referenced, not shown this chapter): the tree-homie Kingbaum tells the Straw-Hat party that the Vinsmoke siblings will reach the Chateau “by midday tomorrow” for the wedding, and that Big Mom wants “the might and scientific prowess of Germa 66” through the marriage (p. 8).
  • Ch. 838 — named as the wedding venue (label, p. 15): Big Mom reviews the wedding schedule here — gift exchange, the Vinsmoke-family meeting, and the wedding cake — and learns the Vinsmoke sons have landed in port. Sanji is held inside; the tea party and ceremony are to be held in the castle.
  • Ch. 845the wedding banquet on the eve of the ceremony: Big Mom hosts her homie-banquet here, announces Pudding’s wedding, and welcomes Germa 66 (Judge, Reiju); Pudding’s room is inside the castle (pp. 3, 7, 12).
  • Ch. 843 — the ministers gather and panic here over Cracker’s defeat: Opera (Minister of Cream), Galette (Minister of Butter), and Mont-d’Or (Minister of Cheese) react with fury (pp. 4-6), and two of the Sweet 3 Generals (Smoothie, Katakuri) are said to have arrived. Big Mom’s weather-control homies Prometheus and Zeus and her homie-commanding vivre card are detailed here (pp. 8-9).
  • Ch. 847 — the Chateau’s prison library is shown: living creatures (a Manticore, unicorn, griffon, centaur, long-limbed humans) sealed into book-pages by Mont-d’Or’s power, where “anything within a book is eternally ageless” (pp. 5-6). The captive Luffy and Nami are held here before Big Mom (pp. 8-16); Big Mom reveals she holds the legendary Tamatebox (pp. 11-12). Pedro infiltrates the Chateau and is intercepted by Baron Tamago (p. 17).
  • Ch. 850 — hosts Sanji’s guest room (he cooks for Pudding), the third-floor courtyard (Pedro vs Baron Tamago & Pekoms; Pedro’s self-detonation), Pudding’s room (her hidden-third-eye reveal), and the Prison Library where the seastone-shackled Luffy & Nami are held; its mirrors are reachable from the Mirro-World (pp. 2-17).
  • Ch. 852interior rooms established: a Medical Room (where the recovering Reiju tells Sanji the truth, p. 2), the basement Prison Library (Mont-d’Or’s book-prison, set ablaze by Jinbe to free Luffy & Nami, p. 4), and the Treasure Repository (p. 15); a multi-floor fortress the Big Mom Pirates seal off floor-by-floor as the Straw Hats break loose.
  • Ch. 872destroyed / cake-converted. The bomb-armed Tamatebox detonates at the Chateau’s foundation, opening a full fault from the Eastern Baum meeting room and collapsing the castle (pp. 3-7); head chef Streusen’s power (Cook-Cook Fruit) converts the falling structure into an enormous cake of cream and sponge that cushions the fall — the castle is now “an actual cake” (pp. 4-15). See The Tamatebox Is Bomb-Armed And Handed To Big Mom As Tribute.
