Chapter 259: Pirate Zolo vs. Warrior Braham

Summary

The Upper Yard survival game continues. Zoro duels the Shandian sky-warrior Braham, a hit-and-run gunfighter who flits across the jungle on a pair of wavers and blinds his target with flash-pistols and a Milky Dial (pp. 2-7). Zoro can’t track the floating, flash-firing guerrilla at first (“how’s he moving so fast without running?!”), takes a graze to the leg, and is harried by a sky-eel Braham sics on him (pp. 7-9). Zoro adapts: he snatches a pair of Braham’s goggles to neutralize the light-guns (“your light guns won’t work on me anymore!!”, pp. 10-11). Braham counters with a final monologue — the six senses and the thirty-six earthly desires, “you are a pistol, I am a cannon” — and unloads point-blank (pp. 12-13). Zoro answers with a flying slash, Three-Sword Style: Thirty-Six Pound Phoenix, that cuts straight through the barrage and downs Braham (pp. 13-16). Meanwhile Tony Tony Chopper (sniffing for the scattered crew) and the Sky Knight’s group reach a stretch of ancient ruins (p. 17). The chapter closes on the Going Merry: someone is frantically reviving the wounded Sanji when a stranger’s GLARE silences them — Enel has come aboard. He says he didn’t come to cause trouble, greets Gan Fall as “an old friend” after “six years,” and names him “former Kami Ganfor” (pp. 18-19).
