Summary
Inside Enies Lobby the rescue splinters into simultaneous fights. In Rob Lucci’s Room, Sanji dominates Kalifa of CP9 with raw speed (Moon Walk, Tempest Kick, Collier) — but the instant he lands a clean kick he hesitates, because she is a woman, and his chivalry doctrine (“I won’t kick a woman…!! Even if it kills me…”) lets Kalifa wrap him in her soap/bubble power; his whole body turns “slippery” and brittle “like a glass doll” and he is knocked out cold and dropped through the floor. Meanwhile in the First Floor Receiving Area, Nami is nearly killed by Kumadori (who uses “Life Return!”) until Tony Tony Chopper saves her. The defeated Sanji crashes in among them, and Nami — furious at his idiotic chivalry — declares it’s her turn and goes to fight Kalifa, leaving Sanji to take over against Kumadori. Elsewhere, Chimney, Gonbe and the kid-guide lead Luffy to a giant steel door marked “WORLD GOVT” — the underwater passage Rob Lucci and “the black-haired lady” (Robin) went through. Luffy, with no key, calls “GEAR… THREE!!” for the first time, inflates a bone to gigantic size, and blows the door apart — then comically deflates into a tiny child as he charges through toward Robin.
New reveals
- Gear Third on-page debut. Luffy declares “STAND BACK, YOU GUYS…” then ”…THREE! G-G-G-G… GEAR” (p. 18) and uses a giant inflated limb/bone to demolish the World Government’s steel door (p. 19) — the second numbered “Gear” technique after Gear Second (Ch. 387).
- Gear Third deflation cost. Immediately after the smash, Luffy shrinks into a “little kid” (“HUH…? HOW COME YOU TURNED INTO A LITTLE KID?!”, p. 19) — the first showing of Gear Third’s child-shrink side-effect.
- Kalifa’s CP9 power (still UNNAMED on-page) produces soap/bubbles on contact that make Sanji’s body “slippery” and brittle “like a glass doll” and strips his strength — operationalized for the first time in combat (pp. 11-13). (The fruit Kalifa ate Ch. 385 now demonstrates its effect; the fruit name is NOT given here.)
- The keys to Robin’s cuffs are numbered. Kumadori holds “Number Three” (p. 11); the Straw Hats realize each CP9 agent carries a numbered key, only one of which fits Robin’s handcuffs.
- Sanji’s loss is doctrinal, not a power gap. He out-fought Kalifa decisively until his refusal to strike a woman (“I won’t kick a woman…!! Even if it kills me…!”, pp. 14-15) handed her the opening — the chivalry axiom finally costs a fight at the boss tier.

Open questions raised
- What exactly is Kalifa’s soap/bubble power and the fruit she ate Ch. 385 (name still withheld on-page)?
- Which numbered key opens Robin’s cuffs, and which CP9 agent carries it?
- What is the full cost/duration of Gear Third’s child-shrink deflation?
- Can Luffy reach Robin before she is taken through the Gates of Justice?
