Pacifista

What we know

• Ch. 485: “I am the government’s HUMAN WEAPON, but not yet complete… I am called a PACIFISTA” (Kuma, pp. 8-9). A Pacifista is a body “even harder than iron” — it resists a swordsman’s iaido strike (“Lion’s Song”) and fires a blade-melting mouth-beam — and is explicitly distinct from an ordinary cyborg (“A CYBORG LIKE FRANKY?! No… he’s even harder than iron!!!” / “nothing like your friend Franky,” p. 7).
• Ch. 485: Built by Dr. Vegapunk, the World Government’s resident genius, whose “scientific prowess is said to be 500 years ahead of mankind,” fusing a cyborg body with a Devil-Fruit power (p. 10). Speaking as an incomplete unit (“not yet complete”), Kuma notes the conversion is already overriding his will: “my body… doesn’t do what I tell it to.”

• Ch. 510: The Straw Hats fight and break down the Kuma-replica “war machine” Pacifista at Grove 12 — drawn to look exactly like the Warlord Bartholomew Kuma (“He looks exactly like one of the Seven Warlords!”, p. 9). Franky identifies it as “an ordinary human body, modified to carry weapons” — a cyborg like himself — but its skin still bleeds and a bomb in its mouth-beam emitter short-circuits/detonates it (pp. 11-15). NOTE: the term “Pacifista” is not spoken this chapter (called “war machine” / “human weapon”) — name-tag forward. See Cyborg.

• Ch. 511: Completed, numbered Pacifista units are deployed and explicitly named — the defeated unit is PX-4, a second is PX-1, and the crew fears a “third” (pp. 6-9). Sentomaru: “You Pacifistas each cost as much as an entire battleship!” Built to look identical to Bartholomew Kuma — “either twins, or he was modified to look just like him… they can’t create humans from scratch” (p. 4). PX-1 “shoots beams from his hand too! But he doesn’t have any paws!!” — beam power without Kuma’s paw-pad fruit (p. 9). Controlled by Sentomaru under Vegapunk. (Completed units first appear across the surrounding Sabaody chapters; this is where they are NAMED and mass-production is stated — see Pacifista Human Weapon Not Yet Complete Mass-Production Tell, Pacifistas Built To Look Identical To Bartholomew Kuma.)

• Ch. 512: Mass-produced Pacifista shown in numbers. Sentomaru commands “PX-1” against the scattering Straw Hats (p. 9); a second identical unit appears (“ANOTHER ONE!!!”, pp. 17-18) before the real Kuma walks in (“…the real thing!”). Confirms the PX units are interchangeable Kuma-shaped clones fielded in quantity — the Ch. 485 “not yet complete” tell fully realized. • Ch. 513: The real Kuma erases one of his own Pacifista. The genuine Warlord destroys one of his side’s units (PX-1) with his paw and refuses to explain why — “He just erased one of his own guys!!” (p. 6). The crew had previously fought “three of these guys” (Pacifista clones) before encountering the original Kuma (p. 5). A selectivity/silence tell that Kuma’s scatter is not a straightforward extermination — see Kuma Erases His Own Pacifista A Deliberate Scatter Not An Execution. FORWARD-GUARD: record only the on-page act; the Kuma-as-cyborg / consent reveal stays forward.

Open questions about this topic

• “Not yet complete” is a chekhov-explicit qualifier implying completed (and possibly replicated) units exist or are coming — see Pacifista Human Weapon Not Yet Complete Mass-Production Tell.
• What distinguishes a “completed” Pacifista from the incomplete Kuma shown here?
• Why has Vegapunk’s body “doesn’t do what I tell it to” — what part of the conversion overrides the user’s will?
