Chapter 406: Life Return

Summary

Two concurrent Tower-of-Law brawls run side by side. First, Franky finishes the CP9 wolf-agent Jabra (in his four-legged “centaur” wolf-hybrid form, mid-spin with a Super Cartwheel Iron Ball): Franky grips both Jabra’s legs to ground him (“Now you can’t move freely through the sky!!”), kills the spin with a “Coup de Vent” once they are above shore, then blasts Jabra into the tower with a max-power “70mm 0.2 Cola Cannon” (pp. 2–7). Second, the still-handcuffed trio of Zoro, Usopp (as Sogeking / Sniper King) and Chopper face the kabuki-styled CP9 agent Kumadori. After arguing over Zoro’s plan to cut off a hand to escape the shared cuffs (a rock-paper-scissors gag, “Get me a lawyer / I’m gonna sue you”), Zoro instead seizes Sogeking and uses him as a sword. Kumadori reveals his body-control art Life Return (Seimei Kikan) — a hermit technique of conscious control over every part of the body, animating his long hair like an octopus’s tentacles and absorbing/digesting mass to fatten or thin himself instantly. Styling himself “a Shishi, a proud lion,” he binds Chopper with Life Return: Hair Bind. With the tower room catching fire and Robin still to be freed, Chopper re-doses his Rumble Ball — narrating its hard limits — and gambles on Horn/Arm Point to settle the fight in three minutes, but the over-used drug makes his transformation go out of control on the final page (pp. 8–19). The chapter closes with an SBS column (p. 20).

New reveals

• Life Return (Seimei Kikan) — Kumadori’s hermit-trained body-control art: conscious command over “every part of one’s body… from the hair on one’s head, from one’s vital organs to the tips of one’s toes, even to the end of one’s ‘short hairs’.” Lets him weaponize his hair like an octopus’s tentacles and “absorb”/“digest” mass to bulk up or slim down at will (pp. 11–13). He frames it as the fruit of inhaling/swallowing the mist as a hermit for “a millennium in the sea, a millennium in the mountains.”
• Rumble Ball usage doctrine, fully stated on-page (p. 16): usable only once every six hours, and each repeated same-day dose destabilizes him — 1st use is fine, a 2nd risks his power “running out” / being “unable to fight,” a 3rd makes “things go out of whack” and transformations “harder to control.” The cost-ledger behind the Drum-Island three-minute mechanic.
• Jabra’s wolf-zoan “centaur” hybrid form is shown losing to Franky: grounded, then knocked into the tower by Coup de Vent + the max-power Cola Cannon. (His Devil Fruit is still not named on-page.)
