Captain: Hody Jones (named @0609, not yet shown) · First appeared: Ch. 607 · Base: Fish-Man District
Profile
A post-timeskip fish-man-supremacist pirate crew that controls/patrols the deep-sea trench approach to Fish-Man Island. Ideological successors of the Arlong Pirates: fish-men as the enemies of humans. First on-page agents are mounted fighters on sea-beasts; the crew recruits/coerces by invoking Fisher Tiger’s legacy.
(Captain not named on-page this chapter; surfaces forward in the arc. Distinct from the historical “New Fish-Man Pirates” string rendered in old Arlong-arc chapter notes — this is the named post-timeskip crew.)

Notable events
- Ch. 607 — Hammond confronts the Straw Hats at the 30,000-ft trench, sneers at the tamed Kraken Surume (“How can you take orders from mere humans?”), frames “pirates are the enemies of humans too,” and demands Luffy become the crew’s vassal — invoking Fisher Tiger as “the hero of Fish-Man Island.” Luffy refuses.
- Ch. 608 — the advance group (with Hammond) blocks the descending crew alongside a giant sea-king (“Sea Lion”) and again demands they “work for” the crew; Luffy refuses and is branded an enemy of all fish-men (p. 2). After the Sunny’s coating is torn and the crew sinks, the fish-men assume the humans drowned and resolve to return to Noah to tell their boss that “the one who crushed Arlong’s ambitions” is here (p. 8). The crew’s base is established as Noah, a colossal structure in the deep-sea Fish-Man District; the chapter closes inside Noah as the still-shadowed boss orders Luffy “brought to me” (p. 17). See New Fish-Man Pirates Boss Silhouette.
- Ch. 609 — the captain is named: at the Mermaid Inlet, member Hammond (revealed to be of the Fish-Man District) preaches fish-man supremacy (“You humans are an inferior race!”), recites the blood-mixing taboo and Fisher Tiger’s death, and demands Luffy come to the Fish-Man District “in the name of Captain Hody Jones of the New Fish-Man Pirates” (pp. 12–14) — the first on-page naming of captain Hody Jones (not yet shown). Luffy refuses and KOs Hammond with a Jet Pistol (p. 15). The mermaid girls separately note rumors that travelers are being attacked en route and “something sinister” is afoot (p. 18) — the gathering threat tied to this faction. See Fish-Men Lords Of All Creation Doctrine, The Sinister Threat To Fish-Man Island Travelers Are Being Attacked.
- Ch. 610 — recap/aftermath at Coral Hill: the crew’s hitman Hyouzou (a blue-ringed octopus merman swordsman, “the swordsman with the octopus legs,” p. 5) is named — during the earlier fight he was the only one to block Luffy’s attack and poisoned Luffy, who survived unknowingly thanks to his Impel Down poison antibodies (pp. 4-5). Several members are shown captured and guarded by Usopp, who shot some with poison ammo (p. 5).
- Ch. 611 — full debut at Noah in the Fish-Man District: captain Hody Jones (Great White Shark fish-man) is shown for the first time, and the four executives Ikaros Much (Giant Squid), Daruma (Cookie Cutter Shark), Zeo (Wobbegong Shark), and Dosun (Hammerhead Shark) are introduced via data box (pp. 4-5). The crew preys on human pirates passing through the island: Hody catches Gyro’s fleeing ship and sinks it while still handcuffed (pp. 12-16). They abuse Energy Steroids to amplify their 10×-human strength at the cost of their lifespans (pp. 6, 13, 15), and declare their manifesto — “carry on Arlong’s will,” hold humans “responsible for Fisher Tiger’s death,” depose the “weak sea god” King Neptune, and prove fish-men “the superior race” (pp. 15-17). See New Fish-Man Pirates Inherit Arlongs Will And Avenge Fisher Tiger, Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
- Ch. 613 — the villain alliance: captain Hody Jones allies with Vander Decken IX of the Flying Pirates beneath Noah in the Fish-Man District, vowing to crush King Neptune’s army, take the Sea God’s head, and bring “total ruin to the kingdom of Ryugu” (pp. 16-17). See Hody Jones Vander Decken Alliance To Overthrow Neptune.
- Ch. 614 — flagged as the threat to avoid: Jinbei’s relayed message warns Luffy “Do not fight Hody” (Hody Jones, the crew’s captain), p. 8. See Jinbei Warns Luffy Do Not Fight Hody.
- Ch. 615 — the invasion begins; the alliance of equals: captain Hody Jones rallies the Fish-Man District crowd as Arlong’s successor, pays the merman swordsman Hyouzou (whom the stingy Arlong “couldn’t afford”), and lays out the plan to invade Ryugu Castle — bound humans hurled at the north-east Shell Tower as Decken-marked projectiles, refusers drowned. The crew operates a “pirate alliance” of equals with Vander Decken IX (an ally, explicitly “not Hody’s minion”), who is allied-with (not a member of) the crew (pp. 7-14).
- Ch. 616 — the invasion of Ryugu launches: captain Hody Jones leads the New Fish-Man Pirates (with Vander Decken IX’s Flying Pirates) past the border patrol to invade the Ryugu Kingdom on their “anniversary for revenge,” targeting King Neptune and the three princes and vowing “We will be the rulers of the deep sea!!” (pp. 2-6). On-page officers: the mercenary swordsman Hyouzou (“If you want me to cut ‘em, I’ll cut ‘em. Hic!”) and an unnamed squid officer (“Muchiii!!”). Captain Hody Jones is revealed to be a former Neptune-army soldier (p. 14). The crew reaches Ryugu Castle to find Neptune and his soldiers already bound by the Straw Hats.
- Ch. 617 — the siege of Ryugu Palace: captain Hody Jones holds King Neptune hostage, breaches the walls to flood the palace with the sea, and declares “This kingdom is mine.” Hody’s personal Arlong-discipleship and former service in Neptune’s royal army are revealed (he bears Arlong’s mark); the crew aims to “continue [Arlong’s] legacy” (pp. 2-13). Zoro stays behind to face Hody one-on-one, and Usopp’s Green Star: Rafflesia routs the rank-and-file fish-men (pp. 11-12).
- Ch. 619 — the palace flooded; the king taken: the New Fish-Man Pirates’ assault floods Ryugu Palace (pp. 2-9); members boost their combat power with “energy steroids” (p. 2); the crew captures King Neptune (p. 16).
- Ch. 620 — the island-wide occupation + the Otohime fumi-e: the crew occupies Fish-Man Island district by district (Fishery Hills, Candy Factory Town, the Fish Cultural Center, the Marine Shopping Mall, Water Wheel Town, Coral Hill), proclaiming “this kingdom belongs to Captain Hody now.” They impose a fumi-e loyalty test — every citizen must step on Queen Otohime’s photograph or be cut down / exiled as a human-sympathizer (pp. 3-6); ideology: “Peace between humans and fish-men is a fantasy… we will conquer the humans and change history!” Prince Fukaboshi confronts them (p. 6). See Otohimes Portrait Fumi-e Loyalty Test.
- Ch. 627 — the coup goes public: captain Hody Jones, having seized Ryugu Castle and taken King Neptune, his soldiers, and four Straw-Hat-side allies (Brook, Zoro, Usopp, Pappag) hostage, declares himself “the Captain of the New Fish-Men Pirates” and broadcasts to all of Fish-Man Island through a giant video Den Den Mushi in the Forest of the Sea (pp. 17-19). His aim: stop King Neptune announcing the island’s surface-emigration at this Reverie year.
- Ch. 628 — the broadcast coup at Conchcorde Plaza: captain Hody Jones declares himself the “new king,” parades the chained King Neptune (“Here is your ‘Great Knight.’”), sets a three-hour execution clock at Conchcorde Plaza, and announces the “spring cleaning” of old Ryugu into a pure Fish-Man Island (pp. 4-13). The crew enforces the island-wide Otohime-portrait fumi-e, reframes the citizens’ coexistence-petition signatures as a “list of traitors,” and floods the cage holding Zoro, Usopp and Brook (pp. 3-14). See Otohimes Portrait Fumi-e Loyalty Test, Otohime’s Signature Box And The Celestial Dragon’s Letter.
- Ch. 629 — the evacuation plan: the crew will abandon the “impregnable” Ryugu Castle (leaving only a skeleton guard) and converge on Conchcorde Plaza. A citizen’s description (p. 17) tallies the crew as “four shark fish-men officers and one giant squid,” plus “the island’s best swordsman” as bodyguard. Officer Daruma gnaws through Candy Factory Town’s factory; captain Hody is running low on energy steroids and demands more. See Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
- Ch. 630 — the four-quarter rampage: with King Neptune captured, the crew splits into squads and rampages through all four quarters of Fish-Man Island — Waterwheel Town (N), the Fish-Man Cultural Hall (S), the Marine Shopping Mall (E), Fishverly Hills (NE) — converging on Conchcorde Plaza for a public execution set two hours out (pp. 2-17). Four officers are caption-introduced in action: Dosun (Hammerhead Shark Fish-Man, p. 4), Hyouzou (Blue-Ringed Octopus Merman, p. 7), Zeo (Wobbegong Fish-Man, p. 9), Ikaros Much (Giant Squid Fish-Man, p. 13). Their purity creed escalates a rung past Arlong’s supremacy: fish-men who share blood with humans are “silently dispatched in the dead of night”; “human blood is tainted” (p. 3). Energy Steroids are shown both as a battlefield top-up (Dosun, drained “to tink” by Fukaboshi, snaps his chains “beyond Dosun” after a dose, p. 4) and as a self-destructive crutch (Hody’s body “being torn to pieces,” pp. 18-19). See Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan, Inherited Hatred Cycle Arlong To Hody To The New Fish-Man Pirates.
- Ch. 631 — the plaza execution + the princes’ counterattack: with King Neptune captured and held for execution “in one hour,” the crew uses a pack of steroid-enhanced sea beasts to crush the Neptune Army and seize Conchcorde Plaza. Captain Hody is shown post-Energy-Steroid-overdose — white hair, transformed body, calling it “Perfect.” The sea beasts are then defeated by the three princes (Fukaboshi/Ryuboshi/Manboshi), but Hody fights on. See Energy Steroids, Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
Fish-Man Island — the 100,000-strong army revealed (Ch. 632)
- The crew’s force is unveiled at Conchcorde Plaza (pp. 10-11): 100,000 lawless fugitives from the outcast Fish-Man District — 70,000 weapons-trained fish-men plus 30,000 human slaves captured over the past month, with more planned. Hody regards the Arlong Pirates as “just an empty symbol” and his crew as the holders of “real power”; he confesses on-page to murdering Queen Otohime and framing a human. The three princes were defeated only after his officers used Energy Steroids (p. 4). See Energy Steroids, Inherited Hatred Cycle Arlong To Hody To The New Fish-Man Pirates.
Fish-Man Island — 100,000 vs. 10; half the horde dropped by Haki (Ch. 634)
- 100,000 strong at Conchcorde Plaza (Ch. 634 p. 13, “We have 100,000 on our side!”). Their captain Hody Jones frames them as the future masters of a fish-man-supremacist world order.
- 50,000 dropped at once by Luffy’s Conqueror’s Haki (pp. 16–17) — “He took down half our horde without doing anything!!” Establishes the army’s vulnerability to will-based power despite Energy-Steroid augmentation.
Fish-Man Island — 100,000 carved apart at the plaza; the Kraken turns (Ch. 635)
- The crew’s 100,000-strong army (it has split its numbers: “even if you defeated 50,000 of our men, we still have 50,000 left!!”) is carved apart by the ten Straw-Hat-side fighters at the Conchcorde Plaza approach. Named units shown: Artillery, Iron Shell, Sea Urchin Spike (led by Captain Harisenbon — harisenbon 針千本, literally “thousand needles,” is the standard Japanese name for the porcupinefish / spiny pufferfish; he is a porcupinefish fish-man, a surface name-pun fitting the spike/spine theme of his squad. Confidence: high. Source: One Piece Wiki — New Fish-Man Pirates), and Poison units; Dosun is present (p. 6). They target Shirahoshi and finally summon their enslaved Kraken — which is Surume, who turns on them to protect Luffy (pp. 17-19).
Fish-Man Island — routed at the plaza; the Kraken turns (Ch. 636)
- The officer corps fights the Straw Hats at Conchcorde Plaza and is routed by the crew’s timeskip power-ups; they coerce the Kraken Surume into attacking Shirahoshi by holding its brother hostage at the North Pole (pp. 14-15), and captain Hody Jones is punched by Luffy (pp. 16-17).
Fish-Man Island — the alliance with Decken fractures (Ch. 637)
- Vander Decken IX of the Flying Pirates aims the falling Noah at the whole island, the New Fish-Man Pirates included; Hody Jones: “He has betrayed our pact!!” (p. 16). Hody nonetheless decides to exploit the crash from the ark’s underside (p. 18).
Fish-Man Island — the alliance collapses; steroids spread to the rank-and-file (Ch. 639)
- The crew leans hard on Energy Steroids: their mercenary swordsman Hyouzou downs them with his booze and turns monstrous (p. 18), and crewmen dose the giant Wadatsumi to fight the Straw Hats (p. 12).
- Captain Hody Jones’s alliance with Vander Decken IX fractures into open betrayal — Decken brands Hody with the Mato Mato no Mi mark and the two turn on each other (pp. 3–5). See Hody Jones Vander Decken Alliance To Overthrow Neptune, Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
Fish-Man Island — the four officers lose the plaza (Ch. 640)
- All four executives are bested in labeled duels: Ikaros Much (vs Franky), Zeo (vs Brook — camouflage exposed), Daruma (vs Usopp — Alabasta hole-counter), Dosun (vs Chopper). The crowd notes the rank-and-file are “helpless out here” if the bosses go down (p.13).
Fish-Man Island — Hody atop the falling Noah (Ch. 641)
- Captain Hody fights atop the falling Noah (p. 2 ff.), trading Fish-Man Karate with the Neptune princes and slicing Luffy’s air bubble; he restates the Energy-Steroid lifespan cost at his climax — “No matter how much of my life I must shorten… I will have my revenge on humankind!!!” (p. 19). See Energy Steroids, Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
Fish-Man Island — Conchcorde Plaza battle (Ch. 642)
- @0642 (Fish-Man Island — Conchcorde Plaza battle): the officers fight the Straw Hats + the Neptune Army. Hyouzou is one-shot by Zoro, Dosun loses his hammer duel to Chopper, Ikaros Much spitballs Robin, and the crew is shown enslaving humans as disposable “Slave Tank” battering rams — Jinbe likens them to Celestial Dragons and has Robin free the slaves. See Slavery.
Fish-Man Island — “monsters created by hatred” (Ch. 643)
- The crew’s lower ranks are cleared out at Conchcorde Plaza by Nico Robin, Brook and Usopp while the freed human slaves rebel.
- Fukaboshi’s island-wide broadcast frames the whole crew: “The New Fish-Man Pirates are monsters created by hatred” who suffered nothing personally and whose hatred is “void of any kind of experience and will” (pp. 17-19). See Inherited Hatred Cycle Arlong To Hody To The New Fish-Man Pirates, Hody Jones Inherited Hatred Without Personal Cause.
Origin — the District’s darkest emotions (flashback, Ch. 644)
- Fukaboshi frames the crew’s birth: after the Fish-Man District lost faith in the kingdom (Fisher Tiger’s death, Otohime’s murder), its most hateful faction “became the darkest emotions of Fish-Man Island, cut off from the rest of the populace” — armed by Energy Steroids (Dosun’s manufacture) to wage a “holy war” against humans and the throne (pp. 9–11). See Inherited Hatred Cycle Arlong To Hody To The New Fish-Man Pirates, Energy Steroids Shorten The New Fish-Man Pirates Lifespan.
Fish-Man Island — captain defeated; the hatred creed stated (Ch. 645)
- Captain Hody Jones is defeated by Luffy; the surviving officers (Zeo, Ikaros Much, et al.) are routed across Conchcorde Plaza.
- The crew’s ideology is stated in full: “hatred is never forgotten! It is passed on… and will always lead to vengeance”; “every calamity that has befallen our kind has its roots in humanity”; “death is another form of revenge” (pp. 14-16). See Inherited Hatred Cycle Arlong To Hody To The New Fish-Man Pirates.
Fish-Man Island — the officer corps falls in a single sweep (Ch. 646)
- During the Gyoncorde Plaza battle the timeskip-strengthened Straw Hats (with Jinbei) defeat every executive: Hyouzou (Zoro, Purgatory Oni Giri), Ikaros Much (Franky, Radical Beam), Dosun, Zeo (Brook, Blizzard Slice), and Daruma — plus the allied Flying-Pirates giant Wadatsumi (Jinbei + Sanji). Zoro: “All the officers are down!!!” (p. 19). The Energy-Steroid-amplified elite proves no match for the returned crew.
Fish-Man Island — captain hauled in; the pawns detained (Ch. 648)
- Their captain Hody Jones is brought in chained and visibly aged into a monstrous old creature; the crew’s coerced human-pirate pawns are detained at Conchcorde Plaza pleading “Hody’s gang forced us into it” (pp. 10, 12-13).
Fish-Man Island — judged and imprisoned (Ch. 649)
- After their defeat, the surviving New Fish-Man Pirates are sentenced by King Neptune to penal service in the Fish-Man District under military supervision; the officers are imprisoned in the Prison Tower (pp. 3-4, 8).
