Firsts
  • Impact Dial — absorbs delivered impact and releases it at the user's discretion; powerful enough to kill an average person
  • Reject Dial — emits ten times the force of an Impact Dial, so destructive it can kill the wielder if reused
  • Mantra is the power to 'listen' — those born with the gift hear the voices all living things emit and can read a person's next move; range scales with mastery (Gan Fall = all of Upper Yard; Enel = the entire country)
  • Enel commands 50 Heavenly Warriors (Gan Fall's enslaved former soldiers)
  • Wyper carries a Reject Dial and is willing to die using it
  • Shandian force in the survival game = 30 Shandians + 7 Blue-Sea people (per Enel)

Summary

Aboard the Going Merry chugging up the Milky Road, the Sky Knight (Gan Fall) turns a smashed barrel into a tutorial on Dial combat tech. He has Sanji hammer a shell-loaded barrel and — to everyone’s shock — the barrel beneath is unharmed: it is an Impact Dial, which absorbs any impact delivered to it and releases it on command, powerful enough to kill an average person. Gan Fall walks the crew through dial weaponry (the Reject Dial, Flame Dial, Heat Dial, Axe Dial) and then explains Mantra: the power to “listen” — those born with the gift hear the voices all living things emit and can read a foe’s next move, with range scaling to mastery (his own reach covers all of Upper Yard; Enel’s extends over the entire country). Up at the ark/throne, Enel — amused that two priests (Satori, then Shura) have fallen “two in two days” — orders the 50 Heavenly Warriors (his enslaved soldiers) to flush out the invaders: “30 Shandians and 7 Blue-Sea people.” On the ground, Wyper rallies the Shandians for a do-or-die push (“Enel’s head will roll today”), readying his Reject Dial despite a comrade’s warning that reusing it will blow him apart. The Shandians scatter — “every man for himself,” reconverge at the Kami’s shrine — and one is ambushed by a Heavenly Warrior swinging an Axe Dial, only to cut the warrior down (“Your shield is useless!”). Meanwhile a lost, lonely Luffy, hunting the source of a goofy little song he mistakes for a goat, blunders into the Shandian woman Raki in the jungle — and the two recognize each other.
