Thriller Bark (Ch. 457) — the special zombie is born; wakes carrying Luffy’s personality

• Animated on-page: Moria presses Luffy’s stolen shadow into the colossal corpse and recites the soldier-pact (“you will forget all human relationships you had in the past… I will now provide you a voice and body… so you can live on as my zombie”); the corpse stirs from its 500-year slumber, its heart restarts, and it snaps its giant restraining chains with ease (pp. 3-10). The stitched prisoner number S-900-43 is legible on its body (p. 6).
• Inherits Luffy’s personality and appetite: its first word on waking is “MEAT!!!,” then “I’m hungry!!!” / “Sanji! Food!!” — Moria’s special zombie carries the shadow-owner’s will and hunger, not merely a power-set (pp. 11-13). Thriller Bark (Ch. 458) — first active appearance; wields Luffy’s Gum-Gum powers via the stolen shadow

• First active appearance: the awakened Special Zombie Number 900 — animated by Luffy’s stolen shadow — behaves exactly like Luffy: eats ravenously, demands to “set sail and go around the world,” throws a Gum-Gum Pistol, and roars “I will become… the Pirate King!!!” (pp. 4-8). • Smashes free of the thick-steel special freezer that contained him; the zombies panic — “He’s rotten dangerous! Oars escaped!” (pp. 6-7).
• Flashback: Moria addressed the revived 500-year legend as his “underling,” promising “Master will become the King of the Oceans someday” (pp. 5-6).
• His arm does NOT stretch as he expects (“I thought my arm would be stretchy, but… oh well”) — the shadow grants Luffy’s will and powers imperfectly through Oars’s own giant (non-rubber) body (p. 7). See Gomu Gomu no Mi.

Thriller Bark (Ch. 460)

• Carrying Luffy’s stolen shadow, climbs to the top of the mast, realizes Thriller Bark is a ship, and declares he’ll “take this ship and become the pirate king” — Luffy’s ambition through Luffy’s shadow (p. 7).
• Branded “SZ-8009” (Special Zombie); his rampaging fist smashes the towers and staircase out from under the crew, collapsing the structure (pp. 16-18).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 461)

• Rampages near the bridge to Perona’s room, towering over the crew, who mistake him for a “demon lord”; he holds Luffy’s stolen shadow and so speaks and fights exactly like Luffy (pp. 8-10).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 462) — out of control; wields Luffy’s Gum-Gum powers; annihilates the Zombie Generals

• Wielding Luffy’s shadow, Oars uses Luffy’s powers in combat: “Gum-Gum… Gatling!!,” blinks with Luffy-like speed (“How can he be that quick?!”), and stretches his reach “even though I’m not made of rubber” (pp. 15-16). See Gomu Gomu no Mi, Oars Wields Luffys Gum-Gum Powers Via Stolen Shadow.
• Out of control: single-handedly annihilates the Zombie Generals — Thriller Bark’s “strongest army of zombies” — in an instant (pp. 17-18), and seizes the ship’s wheel, “randomly steering” Thriller Bark and shaking the whole island (pp. 14-15). Declares: “Don’t get in the way… of my adventure!!!”
• The Moria faction panics that their masterwork zombie (“supposed to be on our side”) will not obey — “Zombies are only supposed to know how to obey!! If we let that thing run free… what will happen to Thriller Bark?!” (p. 19).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 469) — fully fused and obedient; Moria’s weapon against the crew

• Body and shadow “finally fused completely” — the out-of-control beast of Ch. 462 is now an OBEDIENT zombie: when Moria asks “Have you become an obedient zombie?”, Oars answers “My master… is Moria!!!” (pp. 6-7). Resolves the @0462 “will the masterwork obey?” tension.
• Given his first mission: Moria orders him to find every Straw Hat on the wanted posters, crush them with full strength, and dump them back on their ship (“if they perish, so be it!! Those with bounties of over 100 million won’t die just because you beat on them!!”) — Oars: “Yes, Master Moria” (p. 7).

• Rampage through the mansion: smashes through floor after floor (special freezer → church → hallway to Perona’s room), stomping the tower and crushing/scattering the Moria faction (pp. 9-13). Branded SZ-900; bellows the chapter title “Straw Hat Pirates!!! …Come out here!!!!” to summon the crew (pp. 18-19).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 470) — names himself on-page; fights the crew with Luffy’s powers; reasserted as Moria’s servant

• Self-identifies by name on-page (first time he speaks his own name): “My name is Oars! Nice to meet you!! Luffy? That’s the name of my enemy.” (p. 3).
• Recognized as the legend: Robin places him as the “Beast” Oars, who left behind the legend of the Continent Puller ~500 years ago — Oars is a historical figure known to an archaeologist (p. 6).
• Wields Luffy’s Gum-Gum powers via the stolen shadow in combat — Gum-Gum Scythe (p. 5), Gum-Gum Volcano (p. 13) — but reaches with his own non-rubber giant body (“He didn’t stretch, but…”) and moves with startling speed (“That huge oaf can move so fast!!”) (pp. 5-7). • Withstands the full crew assault: Sanji’s Collier, Zoro’s Double Gorilla Split, Usopp’s Fire Bird Star, Franky’s Weapons Left, Robin’s Spider Net, Brook’s blades, and the anti-zombie Salt Star all land — “it wasn’t enough for his huge body!!” (pp. 6-17).
• Reasserted as Moria’s weapon: renounces the crew — “I don’t know any of you… I am Master Moria’s servant… Oars!!!” — the once-rogue Luffy-personality zombie (out of control Ch. 462) is now back under Moria’s command (pp. 18-19).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 471) — too injured to fight; Luffy’s shadow still inside him

• Now badly injured and “too injured” to keep fighting; the Straw Hats ask him to move “out of harm’s way” (pp. 17-18).
• On-page reaffirmation that Luffy’s shadow is inside him, as the crew rallies: “If it’s true that Luffy’s shadow is inside you… then you better not underestimate… the true power of your own crew!” (pp. 17-19). Thriller Bark (Ch. 472) — toppled; “One down”

• Still animated by Luffy’s shadow, he laughs Luffy’s “Shi shi shi!”, throws Gum-Gum-style blows and a “Butt Stomp,” and rages that the “Straw Hat phony” pirates are “tougher than I thought” (pp. 2–5). See Gomu Gomu no Mi, Kage-Kage no Mi.
• The crew stops trying to overpower him and exploits anatomy: Usopp’s Special Oil Star Triple Shot makes him slip, Robin’s Cien Fleurs: Big Tree trips him, and Brook’s Frapper… Gong! + Sanji’s chin-strike rattle his brain — “no matter how big you are, the weak points of a human body won’t change!!” He goes dizzy and is flipped/toppled: “One down” (pp. 10–15).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 473) — bridge rampage + SBS race reveal

• Rages after Nami across the narrow bridge (“I’ll pulverize you down to dust!!!”), drives his horns straight into the ground and gets stuck (pp. 3-5); the Straw Hats stall him with comedy and meat, baiting a “Knee Crush” (pp. 7-9). See Gomu Gomu no Mi.
• The chapter’s SBS (printed in this volume) carries the canon race classification — see the callout below.

Thriller Bark (Ch. 474) — Moria-piloted; steers the island out of the fog; Moria revealed inside the belly

• The crew keeps Oars occupied while Luffy chases Moria’s shadow; Zoro tests Shusui on him and the crew plans to salt-purify him (pp. 3-7, 18).
• Oars steered Thriller Bark out of the Florian Triangle fog while rampaging, removing the shadowless crew’s dawn cover (pp. 8-9).
• Gecko Moria is revealed inside his belly, piloting the colossus — “Now that Moria is inside Oars… he actually has a brain!!” (pp. 16-19). Cross-link Salt Is The Thriller Bark Zombies Weakness.

Thriller Bark (Ch. 475) — salt-combo assault; manifests Luffy’s full Gum-Gum arsenal (“a giant Luffy”)

• Battered by the crew’s salt-combo assault (oil-and-fire, tower-drops, Franky’s mortar) but dodges with Luffy’s speed and flattens Franky (pp. 4-12).
• Staggered to his knees by Nami’s Thunderbolt Tempo (pp. 13-14).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 476) — Shadow Revolution rubber-body; vs Nightmare Luffy; halted by Robin

• Now explicitly rubbery via Moria’s Shadow Revolution — Oars’s body is forced to copy his rubber-stretched shadow, so he throws Luffy’s Gum-Gum techniques (“Gum-Gum… battle-axe!!,” “Gum-Gum… Bazooka!!”) and is rolled into an “Oars Ball” (pp. 10-12, 17-18). • Battles Nightmare Luffy (pp. 8-10), then the combined Straw Hat assault: Brook’s lightning strike opens him up for Zoro’s “Tower Climb” (pp. 16-17).
• Near chapter’s end he “can’t stretch out anymore” as Robin’s “Ochenta Fleurs, Cuatro Mano” pins him — “Your Shadow Revolution… is over” (pp. 18-19).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 477) — Moria pilots him from within; Chopper finds the frostbite weak point; KOs Sanji & Chopper

• Still animated by Luffy’s stolen shadow: laughs Luffy’s “Ki shi shi shi,” throws a Gum-Gum Bazooka (p. 11) and Gum-Gum Gatling (p. 18). See Gomu Gomu no Mi, Oars Wields Luffys Gum-Gum Powers Via Stolen Shadow.
• Moria is hidden inside Oars’s stomach, piloting the giant; Oars resents the interference (“Stupid master!! I told you, this is MY fight!!”, p. 10).
• Weak point revealed: Chopper’s autopsy concludes Oars died of cold/exposure ~500 years ago (he “walked around naked”); his right arm is not original — Hogback restored it but it carries traces of frostbite — so the right arm is the exploitable weak point (destroy it → halve his power) (pp. 13-14). • Zombie damage model: Oars feels no pain (swats Chopper off his own shoulder, oblivious, p. 15) but still takes structural damage. His Gum-Gum Gatling knocks out both Sanji and Chopper (pp. 18-19).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 478) — Luffy vs. Luffy; counters the salt weakness

• Counters the salt kill-switch: Usopp force-feeds Oars a giant ball of salt to eject Luffy’s shadow, but Oars “blocks it from the inside, stupid,” flings the salt back at Usopp, and taunts “Did you really think I wouldn’t have any countermeasures for such an obvious weakness?!” (pp. 7-9). • Stomps the downed crew: orders himself to “crush them until there’s nothing left,” flattening the knocked-out Straw Hats (pp. 10-11) until his foot is caught by the returned Luffy.
• “Luffy vs. Luffy”: carries Luffy’s shadow, face, and full move-set so completely the crew can’t tell him from the real Luffy (pp. 12-13); shrugs off Zoro’s Santoryu (“Demonic Raven,” “Tiger Trap,” pp. 4-5). The recovered Luffy declares “There’s only one Luffy… and it’s me!!” and blasts Oars flying clear across Thriller Bark into the distant zombie crowd (pp. 14-19). Thriller Bark (Ch. 479) — beaten down by Nightmare Luffy; collapses

• Carrying Moria inside its stomach, Oars is overwhelmed by “Nightmare Luffy’s” 100-shadow-amplified Gum-Gum barrage (Bullet/Pistol/Battle-Axe/Storm) and finally topples (“DOWAAAAH OOM!!”), shaking the island (pp. 8-20). See Gomu Gomu no Mi.
• Moria taunts Luffy from inside Oars (“A gnat like you thinks he can take me?!”; “You’re pathetic!! You can’t even win against a single pirate?!”), while Oars marvels “How did Straw Hat become so powerful?!” (pp. 10, 15). The rescued victims declare “He beat Oars and Moria!!” — Moria is not shown dead on-page.

Thriller Bark (Ch. 480)

• Revives after his collapse and shrugs off the prior battle (“That didn’t hurt a bit!!”) — the zombies feel no pain, so brute force can’t put him down (pp. 4-5).
• The Straw Hats engineer his defeat instead: frozen in ice (Nami’s rain + the giant freezer) and chained so his spine is pulled STRAIGHT, removing the S-curve that normally absorbs impact (pp. 10-16).
• Knocked out by Luffy’s Gear Third “Gum-Gum Giant Bazooka” to the straightened gut (pp. 17-19). Still carries Luffy’s stolen shadow; remains undead (not purified — no salt used this chapter).

Thriller Bark (Ch. 481) — finally beaten; still conscious

• Defeated at last — collapses (“DOOM”) onto the Mast Mansion and cannot get back up (“No zombie can get back up after that!!”, p. 2). His zombie nature keeps him conscious even with his bones crushed — Chopper: “This power really is making a mockery of life!! Even with his bones crushed, he still can’t die!!” (p. 5).
• Shadow reclaimed: the stolen Luffy-shadow animating Oars is pulled back into Moria during Shadows Asgard, folded into the 1,000-shadow total (p. 14). See Kage-Kage no Mi.

Marineford (Ch. 554) — a descendant appears

• First on-page Oars-lineage descendant: Little Oars Jr., a colossal giant explicitly called “a descendant of Oars the Continent Puller,” fights for Whitebeard at Marineford (p. 14). Confirms Oars left descendants and that his “Continent Puller” legend is widely known. See Oars.

Legacy — Little Oars Jr at Marineford (Ch. 555) — reference only

• His descendant Little Oars Jr. fights at the Summit War — the source of the official “Oars” romanization (read off Jr.’s ship-sail, Ch. 0551). Jr. is explicitly “more than twice the size” of an ordinary giant (p. 2), echoing Oars’s own outlier scale (cf. SBS Vol. 49: Oars “even huger than normal” among giants).

Legacy — “Oars’s Path” at Marineford (Ch. 565) — reference only

• Chapter 565 is titled “Oars’s Path”: his descendant Little Oars Jr., mortally wounded by the Marine bombardment, rises again and helps punch open the lone gap in the Navy’s wall of steel — the Continent Puller’s lineage carries the Whitebeard side’s charge toward the scaffold.
