Chapter 862: The Thinker

Summary

The Sanji–Pudding wedding ceremony proceeds inside Whole Cake Chateau while the Straw-Hat ambush group (Nami, Chopper, Brook) struggles to wake an exhausted, starving Luffy hidden inside the giant wedding cake. Head chef Streusen unveils the towering cake; Big Mom revels in the coming “slaughter show,” her internal monologue confirming the real target is the Vinsmoke family (“Sorry, Vinsmokes, but you’ve gotta go!!!”). As the vows are exchanged, Charlotte Katakuri — seen on-page — silently foresees that Pudding will fall to the ground. Sanji lifts the veil and is confronted with Pudding’s hidden third eye; instead of recoiling he calls it a “beautiful eye,” shattering her composure. The crowd jeers “Three-eyes!!” and Pudding, who has never once been called beautiful, breaks down in a flood of memories of being bullied as a child. Unable to shoot, she is overruled by Big Mom, who orders the disguised priest to fire — but Sanji dodges (as Katakuri foresaw). The gunshot is also the Straw-Hats’ signal: the cake rumbles to life and Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Brook burst out roaring “BIG MOOOM!!!!” to take Sanji back.

• Pudding’s third eye is shown to Sanji at the altar (p. 10); rather than recoil he repeatedly calls it a “beautiful eye” (pp. 10–11) — the first time anyone has ever said so, which devastates her composure.
• Charlotte Katakuri appears on-page again (pp. 9, 13, 15; not his first appearance) (face partly visible, mouth hidden by his scarf) and again demonstrates future-sight: he foresees Pudding falling to the ground, then foresees Sanji dodging the gunshot (pp. 9, 13–14).
• Pudding’s backstory: as a child she was bullied, feared, and called a “monster” for her third eye (p. 12) — the root of her belief that she is “a hideous three-eyed monster.”
