  • Foxy's Devil Fruit is NAMED on-page: the 'Slow-Slow Fruit' (Noro Noro no Mi) — Foxy 'became a slowpoke human' and emits 'Slowpoke Photons,' an as-yet undiscovered particle, from his body
  • The fruit's signature attack is the 'Slow-Slow Beam' (Slow-Slow Beam!!) — a beam of light that, on contact, makes anything (living creature, liquid, or gas) lose velocity for ~30 seconds while keeping all other properties, then speed returns to normal 'as if nothing happened'
  • Foxy used the Slow-Slow Beam at the finish line to slow the Straw Hats' boat — the Foxy Pirates WIN Round 1, the Donut Race
  • As the spoils of the lost Donut Race, Foxy chooses Tony Tony Chopper from the Straw Hat crew; Chopper is conscripted into the Foxy Pirates, made to swear allegiance and wear a Foxy mask
  • Round 2 of the Davy Back Fight is the 'Groggy Ring' — a brutal ball game: each team designates one player as 'the ball,' and the goal is to put that player into the opposing ring; the roster cannot be changed (no substitutions), so the Straw Hats are down to two players (Zoro + Sanji) after losing Chopper
  • The Foxy Pirates' Groggy Ring team is named the 'Groggy Monsters': Hamburg (the 'four-footed dash freak'), Pickles (a.k.a. 'the Tackle Machine'), and Big Pan (VIZ: 'Big Bun the Fish-Giant') — half fish-man, half giant
  • Sanji is designated as the Straw Hats' 'ball' (wears the ball marker)

Summary

Round 1 of the Davy Back Fight — the Donut Race — ends in defeat: at the very finish line the Foxy Pirates’ boat overtakes the Barrel Tiger, and the Straw Hats can’t understand how, having been comfortably ahead. Foxy reveals why: he fired a “Slow-Slow Beam” that slowed their boat, their bodies, and the waves around them. Pressed by the crew, Foxy explains his power outright — “I ate the Slow-Slow Fruit, so now I can emit these photons from my body… I became a slowpoke human!!” The beam is made of “Slowpoke Photons,” an “as-yet undiscovered particle”; anything the light strikes loses velocity for about 30 seconds (keeping all other properties), then “speed returns to normal as if nothing happened.” Foxy demonstrates by slowing a fired cannonball in midair. Having lost the round, the Straw Hats must surrender one member: Foxy — obsessed with cute, rare beasts — chooses Chopper, who is dragged off in tears, forced to swear allegiance (“You’re our doctor now, Dr. Chopper”) and don a Foxy mask. The crew apologizes, devastated. Zoro, hard-edged, scolds Chopper for blubbering — “The choice to become a sailor was your own… If you’re a man… see this through to the end!” — steeling him for the rematch. With two of three rounds left, Round 2 — the Groggy Ring — is announced: a ball game where the “ball” is a designated person, scored by hurling them into the opposing ring. No substitutions are allowed, so losing Chopper leaves the Straw Hats with only Zoro and Sanji, while the Foxy side fields a full three-man squad — the “Groggy Monsters”: Hamburg (the four-footed dash freak), Pickles (the “Tackle Machine”), and Big Pan (VIZ “Big Bun the Fish-Giant”), a half-fish-man, half-giant colossus. Sanji is named the Straw Hats’ “ball.” The Groggy Monsters take the field as the second game begins.
