- Usopp
- **Ms. Merry Christmas reveals burrowing/mole powers** (pp. 3, 8-9, 13). She vanishes and reappears anywhere she pleases (*'DARN IT!! SHE KEEPS MOVING AROUND!!'*, p. 4), tunnels underground (*'MOLE SWIMMING STEALTH STYLE!!! / WOOSH'*, p. 8 / *'BANANA!!'*, p. 9), and surfaces under her enemies' feet (*'THE GROUND UNDER YOUR FEET IS LIKE A POOL TO ME!!'*, p. 9). **First on-page Mole-style Officer-Agent powerset** — she's the *digs/swims-through-earth* tier. The fruit isn't yet named on-page in this chapter but her power-signature is canonized. (Forward-canon: Mogu Mogu no Mi.)
- **Mr. 4 reveals his Five-Ton Hammer + monster-tier pain-resistance** (pp. 2, 5-6). Mr. 4 swings a 5-ton hammer at Usopp (*'OKAY, MOLE!!! NOW IT'S YOUR TURN TO GET WHACKED BY MY FIVE-TON HAMMER!!'*, p. 2). The pair's **stationary-target gimmick**: Merry Christmas pops up beneath the enemy and *holds them in place* while Mr. 4 swings — a pair-grammar combat-doctrine. When Usopp lands a head-shot with the Usopp Pound (*BWOING!!*, p. 5), Mr. 4 **doesn't react at all** — Chopper observes: *'MR. 4 DOESN'T HAVE A BUMP ON HIS HEAD AT ALL... SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT HERE. HOW COULD HE SURVIVE A BLOW LIKE THAT WITHOUT INJURY?!'* (p. 6) — **monster-tier physical-resistance tell**.
- **The Usopp Pound *Special Edition Five-Ton Hammer* is revealed as papier-mâché** (p. 7). Caption-diagram: *'SPECIAL EDITION USOPP HAMMER / USOPP POUND — 5 tons (false labeling) / collapsible (easy to carry) / support fittings (1 lb), other (3.5 oz), black plastic (thick), frying pan (1.5 lbs), frying pan (1.5 lbs) → NET WEIGHT: 4.4 LBS'*. Usopp's reveal: *'TA-DAH!!! IT WAS FAKE!!! PAPIER-MACHE!!! ...I can't even do ten pounds!!!'* **First on-page Usopp-trick-weapon caption-debut** — the inventor's *bluff-as-weapon* register now has a documented spec-sheet. Mr. 4 (slow-realization): *'HOW DARE YOU TRICK ME.'*
- **Usopp's *8,000 men working for me* bluff** (p. 4). Cornered by the mole, Usopp boasts: *'YOU MUST'VE HEARD ABOUT ALL THE BAROQUE WORKS AGENTS WE'VE TAKEN OUT!!! AND I HAVE... 8,000 PEOPLE WORKING FOR ME!!!'* — **first on-page Usopp-fabricates-Strawhat-power-bluff at the Officer-Agent target tier**. The *Captain Usopp pirate-crew-of-8000* doctrine canonized as a combat-grade bluff aimed at intimidating a foe.
- **Lassoo debut — Mr. 4's *live-dog-bazooka* support weapon** (pp. 9-14). After Merry Christmas's tunneling sets up positions, Mr. 4 calls *'LASSOO!!'* (p. 9) and a small wide-mouthed dog/bazooka-hybrid is wielded as a weapon — visibly firing baseball-bombs/bowling-ball-bombs (*BOW!!! BOW!!!*, pp. 10-14) at Usopp and Chopper. The bombs are launched into the air as the *Four-Hundred Base Hits* technique (p. 10) — Mr. 4 batting the rolled bombs with a baseball bat as an artillery-volley. *(Forward-canon: Lassoo is a former-dog Devil-Fruit-eater, Inu Inu no Mi Model Dachshund — a Zoan that turned a dog into a bazooka.)* **First on-page Lassoo combat appearance** — the dog-bazooka pair-weapon registers on-page.
- **Mr. 4's *Four-Hundred Base Hits* baseball-artillery technique** (p. 10). Caption: *'FOUR HUNDRED BASE HITS!!'* — Mr. 4 swings a baseball bat to launch a barrage of Lassoo-fired bombs at Usopp and Chopper, who flee through the ruins (*'BOW!!! BOW!!!'*-volley).
- **Chopper deploys *Brain Boost* via Rumble Ball — first on-page tactical-thinking combat-sequence under cornered conditions** (p. 11). Cornered with Usopp by the bombing-volley: *'BRAIN BOOST!! IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!! I HAVE TO TAKE A CHANCE!! THINK!! FIND A WAY TO BEAT THEM!!!'* — Chopper invokes *Brain Boost* to compute the enemy's weakness mid-fight. **First on-page Chopper-uses-Rumble-Ball-in-Strawhat-officer-fight beat.** Pre-loads the forward-canon *Brain Boost / Brain Point* tactical-Chopper register that defines his arc role.
- **Chopper's *Scope* visual-analysis tactical-look** (p. 11). Chopper's reindeer-eye glints with cross-hair *(VVV)* as he scans the bomb-arc trajectories (*KLANK KLANK KLANK!*) — a *Scope* visual-tell canonized as the Brain-Boost-mode trigger animation. **First on-page Chopper-cross-hair-scope-visual-tell.**
- **Mole-Town tunnel-network battlefield established** (pp. 8, 13-14). Merry Christmas's tunneling creates a sub-surface network: *'SHE WENT INTO THE TUNNELS AGAIN!!'* (p. 8) / *'SHE DUG A NEW HOLE!!'* / *'MOLE-TOWN HIGHWAY!!! / MOLE IMPACT!!!'* (p. 13). The ruins of Alubarna's outskirts become a **two-axis battlefield** (above-ground for Mr. 4's hammer / below-ground for Merry Christmas's tunnels) — a pair-grammar that mirrors their on-page pair-grammar. **Pre-loads the forward-canon weakness-discovery: the tunnels are all connected and can be collapsed via a single impact.** Chopper at chapter-end: *'THE WEAKNESS OF MOLE-TOWN... IS THAT ALL THE TUNNELS ARE CONNECTED!!!'* (p. 18).
- **Chopper discovers the Mole-Town weakness — *all the tunnels are connected*** (pp. 17-18). After Chopper triggers a chain-reaction by smelling out the tunnel-network and exploiting its connectivity (*'STAY AWAY FROM THAT MOLE!!!'* / *'YOUR WEAKNESS!!! GOT IT!!'*), the network collapses (*KA-B... / WUMP!!*, pp. 18-19). Mr. 4 (slow-realization, last line): *'OH... IS THAT SO?'* — chapter-title-payoff line. **Brain Boost's first on-page payoff: an enemy weakness identified and exploited via tactical inference.**
- **Mr. 4's signature *FOUR* slow-speech-tic** (pp. 6, 10, 14-15). Mr. 4 punctuates conversation with single-word *'FOUR.'* utterances — a slow, deliberate, baseball-coded affect-tic. *'FOUR.'* (p. 6) before chasing Usopp; *'FOUR!!'* (p. 10) before swinging at the bombs; *'FOUR?!'* (p. 14) on confusion. Canonized as his on-page speech-grammar.

Summary
Cover-page (p. 1) — Hachi’s Walk on the Sea Floor, Vol. 4: Hachi Receives a Thank-You Gift of Meat. An octopus-fishman (Hachi) with striped pants and prominent suckered tentacles stands at an underwater scene, accepting a wrapped meat-package from a sea creature (alongside a coral-fridge tableau and hanging sea-life decor). The serial-installment numbering implies Vol. 1-3 ran in chapters 182-184.
In-story (pp. 2-19) — at the ruined outskirts of Alubarna (palm trees + crumbling stone arches + Alubarna’s high-cliff palace on the horizon), the first Officer-Agent pair-fight of the Alubarna ambush unfolds: Usopp + Tony Tony Chopper vs. Mr. 4 + Ms. Merry Christmas.
Opening (p. 2) — Mr. 4 (bowling-pin shape, pinwheel-pipe hat, 4-emblem baseball uniform, hammer over shoulder): “OKAY, MOLE!!! NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO GET WHACKED BY MY FIVE-TON HAMMER!!” Ms. Merry Christmas (afro, polka-dot dress, glasses): vanishes/reappears beneath the surface (KA-BOOM!!); the Mole + Hammer pair-grammar is canonized — Merry Christmas burrows up, holds the target, Mr. 4 swings.
(pp. 3-4) — Merry Christmas pops in and out of the dunes; Mr. 4 chases her hammer-first with WHAM!! / POUND!!! / OVER HERE!! / I’M OVER HERE. — but the hammer ricochets off her phantom-pop appearances. Usopp (cornered, PA-DUMP PA-DUMP): “N-NO, WAIT!! HERE’S MY CHANCE!!” He whacks Merry Christmas on the head with the Usopp Pound (WHAM!! / POUND!!! / RUBBER BAND…/USOPP POUND!!) — repeated head-shots that should kill (WHAM!! WHAM!!! / SILENCE…) — but Merry Christmas is unbruised: “FOOL!! YOU FOOL!! IT’S COMPLETELY USELESS… HUFF HUFF… UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY HIT ME!!” Usopp’s bluff (p. 4): “WH-WHAT?! THE TRUTH IS, IT WAS ALL ME!!! YOU MUST’VE HEARD ABOUT ALL THE BAROQUE WORKS AGENTS WE’VE TAKEN OUT!!! AND I HAVE… 8,000 PEOPLE WORKING FOR ME!!!” — first on-page Usopp-fabricates-Strawhat-power-bluff at the Officer-Agent tier.
(pp. 5-6) — Usopp lands a Usopp Pound on Mr. 4’s head (BONG!! / REALLY?! / BWOING!!). Chopper (cross-cutting astonishment, WOW!! INCREDIBLE!!! / POUND!!): celebrates. But Mr. 4 is completely unfazed (FIVE TONS. …HURT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! / DA-DUMB / HE’S A MONSTER!!) — monster-tier pain-resistance tell. Chopper (p. 6, eyes wide): “MR. 4 DOESN’T HAVE A BUMP ON HIS HEAD AT ALL… SOMETHING’S NOT RIGHT HERE. HOW COULD HE SURVIVE A BLOW LIKE THAT WITHOUT INJURY?!” Mr. 4 (slow-tic): “FOUR.” — sneezes (ATCHOO!! / FWOOSH!! — out the back of Tony Tony Chopper) — and the moment Chopper’s reindeer-form is exposed in the sneeze-aftermath, the Strawhats freeze.
(p. 7) — THE USOPP POUND HAMMER IS REVEALED AS PAPIER-MACHE. Usopp (forced confession, GWAH!): “OF COURSE IT WAS!! YOU THINK I CAN LIFT FIVE TONS?!! I CAN’T EVEN DO TEN POUNDS!!!” Caption-diagram of the weapon: *SPECIAL EDITION USOPP HAMMER / USOPP POUND / 5 tons (false labeling) / collapsible (easy to carry) / support fittings (1 lb), other (3.5 oz), black plastic (thick), frying pan (1.5 lbs), frying pan (1.5 lbs) → NET WEIGHT: 4.4 LBS. Mr. 4 (slow rage): “HOW DARE YOU TRICK ME.” (WOOO / AAAAH!!!)
(pp. 8-9) — Merry Christmas vanishes again: “MOLE SWIMMING STEALTH STYLE!!! / WOOSH” (p. 8) — pursued. Mr. 4 calls his support weapon: “FOUR…” / “LASSOO!!” — a wide-mouthed dog/bazooka-hybrid is wielded. Merry Christmas re-emerges beneath Chopper’s feet (SWA / KIIII!!! / BANANA!!!) with the doctrine-line: “THE GROUND UNDER YOUR FEET IS LIKE A POOL TO ME!!” / “MOLE…” — and the pair-grammar fires: “TAKE OUT THAT REINDEER-MAN!! / MR. 4!! / LASSOO!! / SUE / UGH!!!” — first on-page Lassoo-as-weapon usage.
(pp. 10-14) — Four-Hundred Base Hits artillery sequence. Merry Christmas: “LET THEM HAVE IT!!! / FOUR HUNDRED BASE HITS!!” Mr. 4 (with the baseball bat, p. 10): “FOUR!!” — swings to launch a volley of bombs (BOOM BOOM!!! / BOW!!! BOW!!! / BOW!!!) at Usopp + Chopper, who flee (“NO MORE!!! I CAN’T RUN FOREVER!!!”, p. 11). Chopper invokes the Rumble Ball / Brain Boost: “BRAIN BOOST!! IT’S ALL OR NOTHING!! I HAVE TO TAKE A CHANCE!! THINK!! FIND A WAY TO BEAT THEM!!!” — eyes flash with cross-hair Scope (VVV / KLANK KLANK KLANK!) as he analyzes the bomb-trajectories. The bombs whistle in (BOOM BOOM!!! / CHOPPER!!!); Chopper hurls a bomb back at the mole-positions (BANANA!!! / MOLE!! / WOOSH!! / SHOOF!!) — Merry Christmas dodges (“YOU SHOULD BE WORRYING ABOUT YOURSELF!”, p. 12) and re-pursues Chopper at speed (”…HIT THE WALL HARD!!! / THERE’S A WALL AMONG THE RUINS!! / PERFECT!!” — Chopper bait-runs her into a ruin-wall, WHOOM!! / BUST YOUR HEAD WIDE OPEN!!! / BANANA!!! / KROOSH!!, p. 14 — but the wall collapses rather than her — KLUNK KLUNK KLUNK). Usopp: “WHAT…!”
(pp. 15-16) — The pillar-column crashes onto Mr. 4 himself (WAHHH!!! / WOOO / AGH!!/ USOPPP!!) — Mr. 4 is buried in the rubble. Usopp celebrates (WH-HA HA HA HA HA HA! / HA HA HA! THE OLD PENGUIN LADY GOT BURIED IN THE RUBBLE!, p. 15) — but Merry Christmas (drilling out of the rubble, KAP!!): “I TOLD YOU, I’M A MOLE.” — she’s unharmed. She grabs Usopp (p. 16): “MOLE-TOWN HIGHWAY!!! / NHHSHHH… / AAH!! STOP!! LET GO OF ME!!! / LOOK OUT!! WALL AHEAD!! WALL!!! STOP!!! NOOO!!!” and rams him head-first into a pillar (WHAMM!! / ARGGH!!! / MOLE IMPACT!!!) — Usopp face-planted into stone.
(pp. 17-18) — Chopper (Brain-Boost-eyes, p. 17, DOOM!!! / GOT IT!! / YOUR WEAKNESS!!!) realizes the pattern. WOOOOOOO!!! — Merry Christmas’s bowling-ball-bomb (BOW) flies past; Mr. 4 (rubble-buried, FOUR? / AH… / AH… / THERE!!! / SHNIFF / SNORT!! SNORT!! / SHNIFF SHNIFF) sniffs the air. Chopper (Brain-Boost-tracking Mr. 4 sniffing): “STAY AWAY FROM THAT MOLE!!!” — but it’s too late; Usopp gets pulled into the same scent-marker dynamic (WHUP!! / BOO!!! / ATCHOO!! / R-MM RMM..!! / USOPP!!! / YOU DON’T HAVE TO TELL ME TWICE!!! / TWASH! / HUH? / FOUR? / BOW!!! / SNIFF). Chopper (p. 18, last panel before the KA-BOOM): “THE WEAKNESS OF MOLE-TOWN… …IS THAT ALL THE TUNNELS ARE CONNECTED!!!” — the tactical insight Brain Boost was deployed for. BOOM!!!
(p. 19) — KA-B… / !!! / !?!!! — a massive subterranean chain-detonation: a single bomb dropped into one tunnel propagates through the entire connected network. Mr. 4 (slow-tic, last line of chapter): “IS THAT SO?” / “OH…” — WUMP!! — fade.

Open questions raised
- What is Merry Christmas’s Devil Fruit named? Her Mole / I’m a mole / Mole-Town Highway / The ground is like a pool to me powerset is canonized but the fruit-name (Mogu Mogu no Mi) is not yet uttered on-page. Forward-canon: revealed in the continuation of this fight.
- Why doesn’t Mr. 4 react to head-strikes? Chopper’s question (p. 6) — how could he survive a blow like that without injury? — is the chapter’s tactical mystery. Is Mr. 4’s body Devil-Fruit-modified, naturally tough, or has his slow nervous-system genuinely failed to register the impact (the DA-DUMB SFX implies the latter)? The chapter doesn’t resolve this.
- What is Lassoo? Wide-mouthed dog/bazooka-hybrid that fires baseball-bomb projectiles. Is it a mechanical weapon, a fruit-modified pet, or something else? Forward-canon: Lassoo is a former dog that ate the Inu Inu no Mi Model Dachshund (Zoan-on-object case — a dog that turned into a bazooka). The chapter doesn’t explicitly reveal this yet — only shows the wielding.
- Will the Mole-Town chain-detonation kill Mr. 4 or Merry Christmas? The chapter ends on the KA-BOOM / Is that so? cliffhanger — both BW officers are in the explosion zone. Forward-canon: the fight continues, the pair survive but the tunnel-network is destroyed.
- What happens to Usopp post-Mole-Impact? Usopp is face-planted into a pillar (p. 16, ARGGH!!! / MOLE IMPACT!!!) and dazed; the chapter doesn’t resolve his combat-state before the KA-BOOM. Forward-canon: he survives.
- Where are the other four pair-fights happening? Mr. 1 + Doublefinger and Bon Clay (+ presumably Mr. 5 + Miss Valentine or a yet-unrevealed pair) are off-frame this chapter. Forward-canon: parallel pair-fights across Alubarna play out in subsequent chapters.
