You seem so distant” (p. 7), Kureha asks Ace: “Have you ever heard of Gol D. Roger?” Ace’s enigmatic “D? …Is that what he’s called now?” (p. 7) confirms the lineage-recognition.
• LOAD-BEARING — Will of D. first uttered on-page in the series (p. 8). Sunglasses lowered, watching Ace walk into the snow: “It seems our reindeer will get more than he bargained for…” / “…the will of ‘D.’… lives on.” First on-page utterance of the phrase Will of D. in the entire series. Kureha — 139 years old, contemporaneous with Roger’s career — is the first character in-world to articulate the Will of D. doctrine. • Recognizes Ace from the Whitebeard-tattoo / coat-and-hat silhouette grammar — not stated explicitly, but the “I have the feeling I’ve seen you somewhere before” paired with the Gol D. Roger question implies she sees the Roger-resemblance on sight.

Drum Island (Ch. 153) — refuses to release Chopper; stages the cannon-salute farewell; fires the cherry-blossom-cannon-barrage; Fairy Dust chemistry on-page

• Notices the patient-room has emptied (p. 3). “Oh? There aren’t as many patients as there used to be.” Voice off-frame: “They ‘disobeyed’ your orders. They’re gone.” / Kureha: “Bunch of trouble-makers…” Wapol’s faction has fled the castle.
• Refuses to release Chopper (pp. 4-6). When Chopper asks to join the Straw Hats — “I’m going to be their ship’s doctor and sail around the world with them!!” — Kureha refuses violently. Invokes the master-debt: “And who was it that taught you medicine!? Don’t you have an ounce of gratitude in you!!? You’re my only assistant!!” and then throws a knife/blade at him (KLANK!! KREESHU, p. 6): “If you go, you’ll do it over my dead body!! …A crybaby like you, a man!!? Ha!! You’re not going anywhere!!!” The master physically refuses to let the apprentice go.
• Pursues on the witch’s sleigh (pp. 7-11). Chases Chopper out of the castle; commands the reindeer-form Chopper to pull her sleigh down the mountain. • I don’t like… tearful farewells (p. 13). The chapter’s emotional pivot. Single-tear-streaked close-up, smiling fang-toothed: “I don’t like… tearful farewells.” The master who refuses to release the apprentice also refuses to bow-and-cry-over him. • Recalls Chopper’s amiudake-poisoning of Hiriluk (p. 13). Shadowed close-up: “Did you say that… so I wouldn’t be sad when you died…? I did it, Chopper!! My work is a success!!! Or was that a lie too!?” — Kureha grafts the chapter’s farewell onto Chopper’s Ch. 144 grief beat. The lie-of-cure-reaction Hiriluk told Chopper to spare him is now the master’s question for the apprentice in turn.
• Orders the cannon-barrage (pp. 14-15). At Drum Castle’s parapets: “Everything set, kiddies!? Fire!!!” — BRUPEROOO!! — the entire castle parapet-line fires red-powder cannonballs across the kingdom. Holds up the powder-bag for Chopper to see.
• Narrates the Fairy Dust chemistry (p. 18). “Listen!! This red powder is no ordinary dust!!! When it comes in contact with white snow in the atmosphere… brilliant pink snowflakes will fall!!!” / “This is what I’ve worked 30 years for!!!” / “Brilliant pink snowflakes will fall!!!” First on-page articulation of the cherry-blossom-snowfall mechanism. Hiriluk’s Fairy Dust (Ch. 144) is the red powder; she has been the keeper of his 30-year research since his death. • Quack-aside callback (p. 17). “Get out, you quack!!! Blast! I was sure that lizard eyeballs would do the trick!!” — interpolated callback to her flashback-era exasperation with Hiriluk’s quack pharmacology. The doctor who refused his ridiculous treatments is the doctor finishing his ridiculous project.
• Hiriluk’s pirate-flag re-raised over the cannon-line (p. 13, p. 17). The flag Wapol destroyed in Ch. 147 has been re-raised for the send-off. Kureha is the inheritor of both the flag and the dream.
• Age update — SBS Question Corner p. 18. Oda: “she’s… rather eccentric, she’s nearly 140 years old.” Tracks against Ch. 141 caption-box DR. KUREHA (133 YEARS OLD) — a seven-year drift (Oda’s round-up or an implied caption-vs-present gap). Also: she likes pickled plums.

Drum Island (Ch. 152) — drags Sanji back to infirmary, dialogues with Dalton, accepts Nami’s pickpocket payment, reverse-permits the escape

• Forcibly drags Sanji back to the infirmary (p. 11) — “D-D-D-D-DOCTOR!!! DR. KUREHA!!!!”: appears on the castle walkway with hands on hips. “Happy to see me? Take that injured man and get to the infirmary.”. When Sanji refuses (he’s been carrying the recovering Nami away from treatment because going back means “two more days before we can set sail for Alabasta”): THWAK!!! / AAAH!!!! / GET BACK TO THE INFIRMARY!!!!.
• First on-page Kureha-Dalton dialogue (pp. 12-13). “Dalton, do you know where the key… to the castle’s weapons store-room is?” / Dalton: “Wapol always kept that key on his person. If that’s still true, then it went flying with him.” — establishes Kureha-as-castle-authority and Dalton-as-trusted-informant inside the same conversational frame; the Drum civil triad (Wapol-vs-Kureha-vs-Dalton) is reduced to Kureha-and-Dalton after Wapol’s launch.

• Pickpocketed by Nami for Wapol’s weapons-room key — Clever girl. You’ve got a lot of guts, bargaining with me (p. 14). Kureha had the key; Nami stole it back from Kureha off-page between Ch. 150 (where Nami threw it in the snow) and Ch. 152 (where Nami dangles it on a string: “IS THIS THE KEY… YOU WANT SO BADLY?”). Kureha cackles, returns the key (KLAK… WHUP) with finger raised: “Fine. Your account is paid in full. But as for releasing you, forget it. As a doctor, I can’t.” First on-page Kureha-acknowledges-Nami-as-peer beat — Nami is one of the rare Drum-arc figures Kureha negotiates with rather than orders around.
• Reverse-permission discharge grammar — However, don’t… try to sneak away! (p. 15). Kureha, with a wide knowing grin: “And the boy with the broken back’s treatment is complete. And I don’t have any guards posted. My coat is in a drawer in the back room. Now you listen here, girlie, I’m going downstairs for a while. However, don’t… try to sneak away!”. Operationally permits the escape (itemizes coat-location, treatment-complete, no-guards) while preserving the witch register. Drum Island (Ch. 150) — off-page presence at Drum Castle; Nami’s treating doctor

• Off-page voice at Drum Castle (pp. 2-3, 5). Kureha’s silhouette-profile and a sardonic “Hmph… does he want to die?” (p. 3) frame Wapol’s homecoming. The narrative is shot from her castle-vantage — confirming she is the current resident of Drum Castle.
• Identified as Nami’s treating doctor (p. 5). Nami’s interior monologue places “the doctor” as the threat she is trying to slip away from — “I’ve wasted enough time sleeping. I have to get away before the doctor returns.” Pairs with Ch. 134’s introduction: the Straw Hats reached Cocoaweed seeking Kureha; she has since brought Nami up to her castle for treatment.

Drum Island (Ch. 149) — observes the Chopper vs. Wapol fight

• Present on the snowfield outside Drum Castle, observing the fight (p. 3): “Hee hee hee… Now we’ll see something interesting.” Treats Chopper’s combat unveiling as a long-awaited demonstration — implicitly framing herself as the mentor/teacher who taught Chopper to fight and who knows what the Rumble Ball can do.
• Sanji addresses her as “Crap-doctor!” (p. 3) — installing the Sanji-Kureha dialogue dynamic. Kureha’s the Witch / Doctorine aliases remain in play.
• The chapter implicitly positions Kureha as Chopper’s collaborator: she watches calmly while Chopper deploys a drug he invented over five years of research, content for the fight to play out — the master physician validating her apprentice’s craft. Drum Island (Ch. 147) — Don’t underestimate them / You can’t reason with him

• Present at the castle hill (pp. 6-12, 16-18). Watches Wapol’s three-stage Munch-Munch demonstration alongside the Straw Hats and Chopper.
• Tactical read on Chessmarimo (p. 11): ‘Don’t underestimate them. …The citizens would’ve risen up and stopped them from taking all the doctors. If they were weak…’ — names Wapol’s twenty-doctor seizure as a brute-force operation that succeeded specifically because the officers were strong enough to enforce it. • Chopper-mentor moment (p. 18). Tries to stop Chopper from negotiating with Wapol: ‘You can’t reason with him!! What are you saying, Chopper!?’ — establishes Kureha as Chopper’s world doesn’t work that way counterweight to Hiriluk’s mercy-doctrine. Drum Island (Ch. 146) — castle-occupier, Hiriluk-memorial-keeper, Nami’s physician

• Has occupied Drum Castle since Wapol’s fall. Chess (p. 7): ‘I don’t know what you were thinking, Dr. Kureha, but it was foolhardy of you… to move into the king’s castle!!!’. Wapol’s faction has not retaken the castle until now; Kureha holds it.
• Erected a memorial to Dr. Hiriluk inside the castle. Wapol (p. 10): ‘For turning this sacred castle into a memorial to that bumbling quack… you’ll die first, Dr. Kureha!!!’. Kureha’s own account (p. 8): ‘…insisted on erecting a memorial to Hiriluk here. In this rundown heap of rock. But this fellow… hee hee… I have no interest…’. First on-page Hiriluk mention by Kureha — Kureha is the keeper of his memory.

• Sunbathing on the castle wall in a leather jacket and bikini despite Drum’s 50-below cold (p. 8). Wapol’s death-warrant (‘you’ll die first, Dr. Kureha!’) does not perturb her; she dodges Marimo’s Static Cling effortlessly (p. 10).
• Has begun treating Nami inside Drum Castle. Nami wakes in a four-poster bed in a castle turret-room (p. 13); Kureha’s offhand asides (‘Nah. Go back to sleep.’ / ‘Oh, just a fight.’) confirm Nami is in her care. The Drum arc-premise — the doctor-search — is now operationally underway. Pays off Luffy Needs Doctor Crew.
• Tolerates Sanji’s defense of her. Sanji: ‘Hey, Afro Man!! Throwing hair? Drum Island flashback (Ch. 144) — Snow Tale: Kureha receives Hiriluk’s two-favor dying-ask, articulates the chapter-defining doctor-doctrine

• Receives Hiriluk’s two-favor dying-ask at her cabin (pp. 5-9). Hiriluk arrives at her mountain home (sunglasses on, reading) and asks her to (a) inherit his Fairy Dust and bloom the cherry blossoms in his place (p. 7), and (b) train Tony Tony Chopper as a doctor (p. 7). Both are framed as dying favors from a two-weeks-to-live terminal patient (p. 6).
• Diagnoses Hiriluk as two-weeks-to-live (p. 6 — “You’ve still got two weeks to live.”). The Ch. 0143 four days at 5
  P.M. without-intervention diagnosis is now mitigated by her palliative fooling of the body, giving Hiriluk a working clock of two weeks.
• Receives Fairy Dust (p. 6) — Hiriluk’s 30-year-research miracle-cure substance, transferred to her custody on-page. The substance is the means by which the cherry-blossom-bloom would be achieved; she will complete the work forward-canon.
• On-page refusal, off-page acceptance (pp. 7-9). Whips out a cane (FWIP) and slams Hiriluk into the floor (THUD!!): “Enough!! Who are you to ask me for favors!!?” / “Get out of here!!! There’s a limit to my tolerance!!! You expect me to take over your foolish research and look after your weird pet!!!” / “You’re trying to play on my sympathies because you’re dying!! But you should know me better than that!!!” Once Hiriluk has gone (p. 9): “Heh heh heh… I’ve always known I could. …I can count on you…” The on-page brusqueness conceals her off-page assent — a signature Kureha-grammar.
• Chases Hiriluk to the rope-way platform when she realizes the amiudake misidentification (pp. 11-13). “Could he have…!? That fool… I don’t have time!!!” (p. 11) — runs after him. Reaches the rope-way platform with Chopper.
• Diagnoses the amiudake poisoning from Chopper’s bowl (pp. 12-14). “Now where is he? I know what you are.” / “Amiudake.” / “His disease is incurable!! Didn’t you overhear that at my house? Better? He’s not better.” Then realizes the truth: “That mushroom was… POISONOUS!!!!” (p. 14). Whacks Chopper (WHAM!! WHAK!! WHAK!! WHAK!!, p. 14): “You stupid reindeer!!!”

• Both harshness and tenderness toward Chopper — the WHAM!! WHAK!! on p. 14 and the kneels-with-hand-on-his-head on p. 16 are the same chapter; Kureha’s witch register is both performative and protective.
• Final beat: silhouette walking away (p. 17), hand to brow, “…the fool…” — for Hiriluk (and, the chapter implies, for herself for caring). The line is paired with Chopper’s grief-wail (WAAAAAH!!!) carrying across the snow-mountains.
• Long-association with Hiriluk confirmed — Hiriluk to her at p. 9: “I do know you. Yes… we’ve had a long association…”

Drum Island flashback (Ch. 143) — Kureha-Hiriluk apprenticeship origin

Drum Island (Ch. 141) — the last survivor of the Doctor Hunt; Hiriluk-bond established (flashback)

• At Drum Castle in the present-day frame (pp. 4-7). Receives Chopper’s panicked report of Wapol’s return calmly: “I see.” (p. 4). When asked of the wounded “Who’s Dalton?” (p. 5) — icy detached register. Confronts Wapol on the snow-parapet with her signature laugh (KAK KAK KAK KAK KAK!!) — when asked about the burned Drum-Kingdom flag, she replies: “That old rag? I burned it.” (p. 6). • Wapol names Kureha the last survivor of the great Doctor Hunt (p. 6). Kureha is canonically the senior surviving practitioner of Wapol’s purge — the Doctor Hunt persecuted every non-Twenty doctor, and Kureha is the lone holdout still standing.
• Six-years-earlier flashback (pp. 13-14): Kureha at 133 years old (caption-box: DR. KUREHA (133 YEARS OLD)), meets Hiriluk on the snow-bridge. “Had you not called yourself a doctor… hundreds of people wouldn’t have suffered from a simple cold. Drum Island (Ch. 140) — declines the sea; narrates Chopper’s backstory; endorses the recruitment

• Vanity bit confirmed as recurring — fan-whaps Nami (p. 4) for calling her ‘old lady’ / ‘old crone’: ‘WATCH YOUR MOUTH!!! I’M STILL IN MY PERT-PERKY 130s!!!’ — corrects upward-rounding to 140 with the same energy as in Ch. 134.
• Declines the sea (p. 5): ‘I’ve no time for such nonsense. I have no interest in the sea.’ / ‘You want me to become a pirate?? Don’t be ridiculous!!’ — Luffy’s recruitment-pitch is rejected flatly. • First self-naming in dialogue (p. 12): “But call me doctor. Kak kak kak kak… I’m Kureha.” Ch. 134 named her in editorial caption only; this is her first spoken self-introduction.
