  • Luffy's bounty is shown in the on-page caption at ₿1,500,000,000 (1.5 billion) — his post-Whole-Cake-Island figure
  • The Thousand Sunny reaches the Land of Wano on-page in the present day — first present-day arrival at the country
  • Wano's sea approach is sealed by perpetual storms and churning, fast-shifting tides, and is ringed by a colossal waterfall; the only way in by sea is to ride the giant koi that climb the falls (the 'river' runs upward and ends in a waterfall — anomalous geography)
  • Wano is a closed nation defended by mighty samurai and permanently hostile weather
  • Newspaper: the Reverie is convening at Mariejois — the Ryugu Kingdom (Neptune family) makes its first Reverie appearance in 200 years; Shirahoshi went to the surface and drew major cheers at Red Port; Garp served as Shirahoshi's personal escort
  • Wano teems with oversized/anomalous wildlife: a giant octopus, monster freshwater koi, a komainu-like dog, a boar, and a katana-wielding baboon

Summary

At sea in the New World, the Sunny group (Luffy, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, Brook, Carrot) pores over a newspaper covering the upcoming Reverie — the Straw Hats gleefully spot photo after photo of friends among the world’s royals and guards. As they near Wano, the weather turns murderous: Nami reads ominous wave-patterns “unique to Wano,” and Kin’emon’s earlier transponder-snail warning about the nation’s perilous, storm-walled entrance proves true. A giant octopus and a school of monstrous freshwater koi swarm the ship; the koi climb a colossal waterfall, dragging the Sunny up the falls and into Wano. The crew is scattered on arrival in a pine-clad, feudal-Japanese landscape, and Luffy — separated and protective of the beached ship — finds himself surrounded by huge animals, ending the chapter face-to-face with a katana-wielding baboon. “Okay, this is definitely Wano!!”
