The declaration is the recruitment-by-asking-permission sub-grammar of Straw Hat recruitment. The recruit must ask the master’s permission to leave — cf. Sanji’s Ch. 68 I owe you my life bow to Zeff (same grammar: the apprentice asks the mentor’s blessing). The Drum arc variant inverts the bow: Kureha refuses to release her apprentice (throws a knife), then pivots to the cannon-salute send-off (substituting the bow-and-tears farewell with a 30-year-research red-powder cannon-barrage). The structure is identical: apprentice asks, master refuses, master inverts the refusal into a blessing.
