- Name meaning
- Alubarna sits in the Alabasta / Egypt-coded naming chamber. Most plausible reading: phonetic Arabic/Berber-style coinage that pairs the 'Alabasta' opening syllable with the Arabic 'barna/barnamaj' (program/edifice) register, or a softened echo of historical Egyptian capital sounds (cf. Al-Bayḍāʾ, Al-Bahnasa). Phonotactically the city-name aligns with Egyptian/Middle-Eastern desert-capital naming aesthetics rather than encoding any single specific real-world city. No SBS or Wiki etymology has been published.
Grand Line / Alabasta · capital city · seat of the Nefertari D. royal line · first appeared: Ch. 155
Profile
Alubarna is the capital city of Alabasta and the seat of the Nefertari D. royal line. Alubarna Palace — the royal residence — visualized on-page for the first time in Ch. 155 p. 11 (caption-box: ALUBARNA PALACE — KINGDOM OF ALABASTA): a white-stone palace with onion-dome towers, repeating archways, a high-ceilinged throne hall with guards in pharaonic-style armor (round shields, spears, conical helms).
As of Ch. 155: Alubarna is operationally Cobra’s command center for the kingdom; the Nanohana attack-and-rescue debrief reaches him at the throne hall. Cobra’s We are… indebted to him line establishes the kingdom-level dramatic-irony — the king at his capital publicly credits the villain engineering his country’s collapse. Pre-loads the Alabasta-saga finale, when the Crocodile-vs-Cobra confrontation at Alubarna becomes the arc’s climactic axis.
Etymology
Alubarna — likely a variant transliteration of Al-Barna / Alban- — possibly evocative of Arabic-style city-naming (Al- prefix as the definite article in Arabic). Pairs with the kingdom’s other Arabic-coded geography names. Vivi’s homeland-capital.

Ch. 191 — the Alubarna stone-arched alley/plaza combat-set (continued from Ch. 0190) hosts the resolution of the Nami vs. Doublefinger officer-pair sub-fight. Doublefinger’s Stinger-spikes continue to shred the city’s stone tiles, columns and arches (CHU-NK!!, KRASH!!); the architectural-tier-piercing combat-register established in Ch. 0190 sustains. The fight ends with Nami’s Mirage Tempo cornering Doublefinger against the Alubarna skyline (p. 20). No new street-names or map-architecture canonized this chapter; the city interior remains the empty/falling-capital battlefield.

Ch. 0190 — Alubarna interior streets debut as combat-set; rebels have breached the gates (off-page)
Ch. 190 — First on-page Alubarna interior-streets debut as combat-set. The Mr. 1 vs. Zoro + Doublefinger vs. Nami officer-pair-fight set is sited in Alubarna’s stone-arched plaza streets (palm-tree-lined approaches, hay-barrel-stacked alleys, multi-tier-stone-arch courtyards, stone-column architecture). Mr. 1’s arm-blade severs a stone column vertically (KROOM!! / KRASH!!); Doublefinger’s spike-strikes pierce stone walls like cardboard (KROOSH!!). The architectural-tier-piercing combat is now operationally-canonical in the city interior.
Off-page reference (p. 13) — Nami: ‘I guess Vivi wasn’t able to stop the rebels at the city gates.’ implies the rebels have breached Alubarna’s gate-defense. The Strawhat-officer-pair fights are happening inside an actively-falling city.

- Throne-hall plan-articulation set-piece — DESTROY… THIS PALACE!! (Ch. 187 pp. 18-19). The Ch. 167 palace-interior debut + Ch. 187 destroy-the-palace order converge at the palace-as-symbolic-instrument doctrine canonization. - Mole-Town tunnel-network sub-battlefield established (Ch. 185 pp. 8, 13-14) — Merry Christmas’s tunneling produces a sub-surface network across the Alubarna ruins. The single-bomb-trigger-chain-detonation collapses the network at chapter-end (p. 19, KA-BOOM). Stone pillars and arches in the ruins serve as named-target-objects for the MOLE IMPACT technique.

- South-East-Gate plaza = Moletown Block Four (Ch. 184 p. 10). Mr. 4 / Ms. Merry Christmas pre-laid the South-East-Gate plaza as their named ambush-zone (Merry Christmas: “Enjoy your stay at… Moletown Block Four!!!”). The plaza is a wide-open palm-tree-and-column courtyard at the city’s southeastern entry; post-Mogu-Mogu-burrow it becomes a pock-marked mole-hole field.

Bon Clay articulates the cipher (p. 13): “THREE OF ALUBARNA’S FIVE GATES ARE ACCESSIBLE FROM THE WEST!!” Chaka commands the defensive wall (p. 3, Defend the gates with your lives!!). The BW Officer-Agent ambush deploys at the West Gate; the Bon-Clay-as-Vivi confrontation lands in the city colonnade interior. First on-page Alubarna gate-architecture canonization.
