Summary
Crocodile leaves a defeated, wound-marked Luffy with a six-minute countdown to the palace-square cannonball, then escapes by leaping into the underground waterway that leads west to the Royal Mausoleum — the tomb of the royal family. A recovered Luffy chases him. Underground, King Cobra leads Crocodile and Robin down a hidden stairway to the poneglyph chamber: the poneglyph reveals the location of Pluton, and protecting it has been the sworn duty of generations of Alabasta kings. Crocodile reminds Cobra he kept him alive only because Robin can read the writings — that’s why he can’t kill me (Robin). Above ground, Chopper, Usopp, and Nami race to find Crocodile’s hidden cannon before it fires on the packed palace square (an explosive capable of leveling everything in a mile-and-a-half radius); Pell flies off to search the rooftops, Chaka organizes the search. Tashigi, pursuing on the Marine side, beats down a taunting Baroque Works officer and demands the location of the Royal Mausoleum. Luffy reaches the mausoleum but, slowed by the lingering wound Crocodile dealt him, collapses face-down in the grass. The palace clock reads four minutes to detonation.
