Chapter 1132: Adventure in Elbaph

Summary

The Straw Hats arrive at Elbaf, the land of the giants. Elbaf’s giant children excitedly announce that “the Giant Pirates have returned” aboard the great longship Erik — and word has already spread that Straw Hat Luffy was just named one of the Four Emperors (even “Cap’n Red-Hair” Shanks was talking about him). The giants ferry the crew up to the villages by sailing up a rainbow: the giants draw the solid rainbows with “painters,” and the ships ride them like roads. Split across the levels of Elbaf, the crew converges — one group rides the Giant (Warrior) Pirates’ ship up the rainbow while Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Chopper come up from the Underworld via a rope bridge , having escaped the giant collector Rodo, who hoards captured “little humans” as “livedolls.” The friendly giantess Gerd (now grown) and her companion Goldberg — both friends of Hajrudin — smash Rodo and escort the crew. Geography is laid out: Elbaf has three stacked levels (Astral World, Sun World, Underworld) on a colossal tree, and is formally the Kingdom of Warland. The crew finally reaches the Elbaf village — realizing Luffy & Usopp’s childhood vow. Throughout, the chapter is narrated by book-quotes from the in-universe explorer Louis Arnot, ending on his ominous warning: “Do not overstay your welcome here.”

• Elbaf has three levels — from the top: Astral World, Sun World, Underworld — all built on/around a colossal tree. The giants live on the Sun World, “where the sun’s rays reach” (p. 13). A diagram shows the three worlds stacked on the great tree.
• Elbaf’s formal name is the Kingdom of Warland (the explorer calls it “Elbaph Island, the Kingdom of Warland”); “Elbaf/Elbaph” is the common simplification “for the land of the giants” (p. 16).
• Rideable rainbows. Giants “draw” rainbows with “painters”; the rainbows are solid and ships sail straight up them to reach the villages on top of the tree (pp. 4–7). “You CAN ride on rainbows!!!”
• Luffy’s secret Underworld encounter. Luffy was “brought here against [his] will” to the Underworld, where a flame/smoke-shrouded figure extracted a promise: “Don’t tell anyone about meeting me, or our little promise. You got that, Luffy?!!” (p. 9).
• Rodo, a giant who collects captured humans as “livedolls,” had Nami and Chopper; the crew escaped him (pp. 8–11).
• Luffy’s Emperor status has spread to Elbaf — the giant children know “Straw Hat Luffy,” recently named one of the Four Emperors, talked about even by “Cap’n Red-Hair” (pp. 2–3).

• What is “the Gargantuan” referenced on the village splash (p. 14) — the great tree itself, or the land/giants writ large?
• Why is Louis Arnot’s account so emphatic that visitors must not overstay their welcome at Elbaf? What turns the warrior-paradise hostile?
