Chapter 266: Pirate Chopper vs. Vassal Ohm

Summary

Nico Robin walks the Upper Yard ruins comparing them against the “Cenotaph map,” finding the layout wrong — “this should be the city center,” the “size and topography are totally off,” and she wonders if it was “blown to bits when we landed in the sky” (pp. 2-5). Elsewhere Tony Tony Chopper, racing toward the gold (“I bet everybody will be impressed if I get to El Dorado first”), reaches a second set of ruins and is set upon by a giant white dog, Holly, before its owner — Ohm, one of Enel’s priests/vassals — introduces himself: “Quiet. My name is Ohm” (pp. 6-10). Ohm reveals Chopper is the “third one today to make it this far,” notes Chopper “defeated Gedatsu,” and preaches a nihilist doctrine — humans are born to fight and destroy, so the only “path to salvation” is that “they must all die” (pp. 8-11). Zoro crashes in with “I’ll save you!!” (pp. 11, narration jokes saving Chopper is the last thing on his mind). Cut to the Shandians: Wyper is headed to the Kami’s temple; Kamakiri is “strong, but Eneru broke his spirit” — Enel is “invincible… I am lightning,” and narration delivers the marquee reveal: the Rumble-Rumble Fruit is the most powerful Devil Fruit of the Logia type, and Eneru has its powers (pp. 12-13). Raki is told to go on; the warriors despair that “no one can beat him” (pp. 12-13). Meanwhile Luffy, still riding the giant bird that swallowed/escaped from his snake-belly cave, is carried over the jungle while bickering with the bird; he hits a dead end and tries to break through (“Gum-Gum Bazooka!!” — “It’s not budging,” p. 17). The chapter closes back on Chopper vs. Ohm: Ohm declares his Ordeal — “Iron Challenge!! Here, the survival rate is zero percent. There is no path of life, only the way toward sadness” (pp. 18-20). A bonus SBS Question Corner page closes the chapter, with Oda confirming the priests’ Buddhist-concept names and that Ohm comes from “Om,” the sacred Hindu symbol ॐ (p. 20).

• Enel’s Devil Fruit is named on-page: the Rumble-Rumble Fruit (VIZ) — “The Rumble-Rumble Fruit is the most powerful Devil Fruit of the Logia type. And Eneru has its powers!!” — alongside Enel’s self-description “I am lightning” / “invincible.” This is the first on-page identification of Enel’s fruit (the Goro Goro no Mi) and its classification as the strongest Logia.
