Summary
At the wedding ceremony, dozens of Luffys burst out of the toppling wedding cake — a flashback (Bege’s hideout, ~3.5 hours earlier) reveals the plan: Brûlée superimposes Luffy’s mirror-reflection onto captured island animals, creating a swarm of decoy clones to flood out of a cake-hidden mirror. As Big Mom flies into a rage, the manga explains her Soul Pocus: she can siphon the lifespan only of those who fear death even for an instant. The clone-storm and toppling cake are a diversion so Capone Bege’s men can shatter Mother Carmel’s portrait — but Charlotte Katakuri intercepts the real Luffy with his Mochi Mochi no Mi, recognizing the picture as important (“only family should understand that”). Jimbei, present, exposes the plan’s logic and tells Luffy how to escape the mochi (enough moisture). When Big Mom takes Jimbei’s hesitation as rebellion, he kneels, declares he wishes to quit and join the Straw Hats, and offers her as much of his life as she can take — provided she harm no one but him. Big Mom’s Soul Pocus fails: Jimbei is not afraid of her. He returns his ritual cup, declaring “As of this moment, I quit the Big Mom Pirates!!!” — “a man who would be crewmate of the future King of the Pirates cannot afford to tremble in the presence of a mere Emperor.” Big Mom marks him as her enemy. The chapter closes on an ominous beat as she laughs and an elegant figure intones, “I appreciate all you have done for me.”
New reveals
- Soul Pocus mechanics. Big Mom’s lifespan-theft only works on a soul that fears death — “she’s speaking directly to the human soul’s fixation on its own life.” A single instant of fear is enough; the fearless are immune (pp. 7, 17).
- Katakuri’s Devil Fruit is the Mochi Mochi no Mi — explicitly a “special Paramythia [Paramecia]” power; he traps Luffy’s limbs in sticky mochi (pp. 13, 15).
- Mochi weakness: Jimbei tells Luffy he can escape “if there’s enough moisture — but try not to touch it” (p. 15).
- Brûlée’s power detailed: she takes a person reflected in a mirror and superimposes them onto another body/animal — the source of the multiple Luffys (pp. 3-4).
- Jimbei quits the Big Mom Pirates on-page: returns the ritual sake cup, declares he wishes to join the Straw Hats (pp. 16-18).
- Opera lied: he had reported that Luffy and his people died in the prison library to cover himself — exposed when the Luffys appear (p. 6).
- The portrait-smash is the linchpin of the assassination plot; the clone-swarm + toppling cake exist to distract Big Mom while Bege’s launchers target the frame (pp. 11-12, 14).

Open questions raised
- Why is Mother Carmel’s portrait so important that “only family should understand” — what is Big Mom’s true connection to Carmel?
- Can Bege’s plan still succeed now that Katakuri has seen through it and stopped the portrait-smash?
- Will Jimbei survive Big Mom’s wrath, having declared himself her enemy before the wedding even erupts?
- What is the ominous “I appreciate all you have done for me” line teasing?
