Post-War — Baldimore origins (Ch. 592) — birthplace revealed (referenced, not shown)

  • Future Land Baldimore (a winter “mechanical island”) is revealed as Vegapunk’s birthplace and childhood home, full of his memories (p. 12).
  • As a child he designed an unfinished geothermal system to heat the whole island and “save everybody from the cold”; he “had the completed blueprints in his head” but “outstripped existing technology” and “couldn’t get the funding he needed to perfect his inventions” — his designs are “a couple of hundred years ahead of their time” (pp. 13-14).
  • He is now the Navy’s leading scientist, “the pride of our nation,” his brain “a treasure for all humanity” — the Navy treats everything in the lab as “vital importance to the whole world” (p. 12). Sentomaru frets “what am I supposed to tell Punk?!” after PX-4 is destroyed (p. 7). Still not shown on-page.
