A new pirate organization/company unveiled by newspaper in Ch. 1056 (p.14). Its jolly roger fronts Buggy “the Genius Jester” above Sir Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk (drawn as if his followers — a structure the Straw Hats find absurd: “That’s not possible. Not for Hawk-Eyes.”). The Cross Guild has begun placing bounties on the Navy, so Marines now fear assassination from civilians (p.15). Because Buggy commands two men of Crocodile’s and Mihawk’s stature, the world reckons him an Emperor-tier power.

Etymology
クロスギルド = English Cross + Guild (recorded — see frontmatter). Guild is the manga/game job-broker convention — an apt frame for a body that issues bounties as contracts. Cross layers the crossed bones of a pirate flag (the Jolly Roger literalizes it), the X/cross mark that in One Piece stands for the world (Red Line × Grand Line) and the World Government’s own flag, and the joining (“crossing”) of Crocodile and Mihawk. The defining act — placing bounties on the Marines (p.15) — inverts the WG bounty system, reading as “a guild that issues jobs to oppose the World Government.” A possible double-cross pun (Buggy unknowingly figureheading the two real powers) fits but is unconfirmed. technique/name-etymology · Confidence: medium (Cross+Guild loanwords + crossbones are dictionary-solid; the WG-flag / world-symbol layer is fan-analytical).
