Firsts
  • Jaguar D. Saul is alive on Elbaf and runs the Owl Library and the Walrus School — both founded 20 years ago at the behest of the former king
  • The Owl Library holds ALL the texts Ohara protected 22 years ago; Saul searched the whole island to recover every one, and any book brought in turns giant-sized
  • Vegapunk's satellite Lilith brought a perfect re-creation/clone of Vegapunk (the original Stella) from Egghead in a vat of bio-fluid, and intends to settle on Elbaf and build a new lab to extract him — this is how the original Vegapunk survives
  • Bonney asks Lilith to make her 'daddy' (Kuma) all better; Lilith promises she can
  • King Harald, Elbaf's reformist former king ('Don't fight other countries — trade with them!'), was killed by his own son; the country denied his son the throne, so Elbaf now has no king
  • Elbaf's warrior culture has faded — its world-raiding heyday was 100 years ago, and the current giant children are pacifists who reject violence
  • Prince Loki, chained in the Underworld, converses via a cold-resistant Snow Transponder Snail with a long-distance friend he calls 'Shaggy' whom he has never met
  • A young Elbaf giant warrior says Luffy's white-haired (Gear 5 / Nika) form matches a warrior in Elbaf's mythology
  • A dark, fanged figure and a glowing star sigil descend on the feasting Western Village

Summary

The Saul–Robin reunion spills into the rest of the village: a horned elder giant bows to thank Saul for an old favor done “to one of our young’uns” — then greets Luffy (“Well met, good sir…”) after Saul introduces him — while the village (p5) thanks the Straw Hats for keeping Robin safe (“years ago I was in the navy, so I know what a big deal the Four Emperors are!!”); the whole village vows to protect her for life — a “one-man act” Saul rehearsed with his assistant Ange, which Robin saw right through. Lilith drops out of the sky on Egghead tech to deliver a case Vegapunk requested: inside is a perfect re-creation of Vegapunk himself — “the me who came here 20 years ago,” a true clone (not a satellite), which she smuggled out of Egghead in a vat of bio-fluid; she means to settle on Elbaf, build a new laboratory, and safely extract him, and she promises Bonney she can make her “daddy” (Kuma) all better. Saul splits the group — Ange and the giant biology teacher Ripley tour the Straw Hats around the Walrus School, where Elbaf’s children learn (the kids are gentle pacifists who recoil from the old warrior ways), while Saul personally walks Robin to the Owl Library. Ripley gives a history lesson: the great reformist King Harald (“Don’t fight other countries — trade with them!”) was murdered by his own son before his dream could be realized; the country refused that son the throne, so Elbaf has no king now. Saul reveals he had Hajrudin’s crew carry him back to Ohara to recover the books the scholars died for — every one is now giant-sized and shelved in the owl-shaped Owl Library, which holds all the texts Ohara protected 22 years ago. Robin weeps before the world’s greatest library. Far below, in the Underworld, the chained Loki chats through a cold-resistant Snow Transponder Snail with a faraway friend he calls “Shaggy” — telling him he’d have razed his attackers and killed them all, while Shaggy insists Loki’s fearsome words hide a buried kindness, which enrages him. At the Western Village, as the giants drink before a feast, a dark fanged figure and a glowing star sigil come crashing down. To be continued.
