Summary
The Thousand Sunny is attacked at the shore of a strange island by a giant metal shark; Luffy and Chopper are knocked into the sea, and Jinbe dives after them, also pulling up a third person — Jewelry Bonney, whose own ship the mecha-shark devoured. Meanwhile, at the nearby Naval Branch G-14, Captain Tashigi treats the former Punk Hazard giant-children (including Mocha) as they shrink back to normal, while SWORD officers Hibari, Helmeppo, and Prince Grus beg base commander Vice Admiral Doll for permission to storm Blackbeard’s island Fullalead to rescue the captured Captain Koby — proposing they “take the Seraphim.” Back on the water, Bonney reveals the island is Egghead, the government laboratory of Dr. Vegapunk, “a place 500 years in the future,” and that she’s come to give Vegapunk a piece of her mind. A giant “Vega Force 01” robot rises from the sea; a person in “PUNK-02” attire emerges, explains the mecha-shark was only meant to recon and bombard (eating the ship was a programming error), and declares herself Dr. Vegapunk.
New reveals
- Egghead, “the Future Island” — a World Government island housing Dr. Vegapunk’s laboratory, described as “a place 500 years in the future” (p. 13). First on-page appearance.
- The mecha-shark is a Vegapunk drone tasked to “recon, report, and bombard”; it ate Bonney’s ship due to a programming error (p. 15).
- Jewelry Bonney is the third castaway Jinbe rescues; she came to Egghead alone and intends to confront Vegapunk (p. 12-13).
- Naval Branch G-14 introduced — a Marine base on a nearby island, commanded by Vice Admiral Doll (p. 10).
- SWORD members on-page: Hibari (Navy HQ Commander), Helmeppo (Navy HQ Lt. Commander), Prince Grus (Navy HQ Rear Admiral) — all captioned “(Sword)” — petition to rescue Koby from Fullalead (Blackbeard’s island); they reference using the Seraphim and that they’ve lost contact with Drake (p. 11).
- The Punk Hazard captive children are recovering: Mocha has “shrunk a lot,” Tashigi gives them “medicine” (p. 10).
- Cliffhanger: a person in “PUNK-02” attire piloting the “Vega Force 01” giant robot declares herself Dr. Vegapunk (pp. 14-15).

Open questions raised

- Why does Bonney hold a personal grudge against Vegapunk, and why did she come to Egghead alone?
- What are the “Seraphim” that SWORD wants to deploy against Blackbeard?
- Will SWORD defy Doll and move to rescue Koby from Fullalead?
