Reader (Sogequeen) notices the same “Brag Men” book Olvia’s people are throwing out in Vol 41 (Robin’s flashback, ~20 years pre-story) is the same book Nami was reading in Vol 13 about Little Garden/Giants. Oda confirms: it’s a worldwide-circulated collection of “tall tales” — eyewitness accounts of unbelievable Grand Line islands/people that the world dismissed as exaggerations. “If this book only exists today because the brave scholars of Ohara gave their lives to protect it 20 years ago, it fills your heart with something warm.” Oda’s meta-statement: “Maybe you can tell the truth behind the stories, through the looking glass of Luffy’s adventures.”

Implication: the Ohara scholars weren’t only protecting the True History (the suppressed Void Century / Great Kingdom record) — they were also protecting the public-knowledge geographic/cultural record of the Grand Line so the world wouldn’t forget what was real. Full Ohara flashback. The World Government’s genocide is shown on-page for the first time: Director Spandine of CP9 commands the operation (“CP9, huh?”, p. 9), the scholars die saving their books so “the words of our predecessors, going back several thousand years, can be passed on to the future” (pp. 2–5), and Ohara is named as the eradication target — “this is just being used as an example… that’s why Ohara is being eliminated” (p. 10). The former Navy member “Mr. Kuzan” (the future Aokiji, wielder of the Hie Hie no Mi) turns against the order — freezing the warships’ cannon fire (“Ice Block”, p. 9) and demanding withdrawal (“this isn’t right… can you still hold your head high?!”, “justice changes shape depending on one’s standpoint”, pp. 10–11). His suspended judgement (“Maybe you guys had better die now… but I changed my mind,” pp. 19–20) is the first dangling thread of the Marines’ standing kill-order on the lone Ohara survivor.

Ch. 218 pp. 4-6 — Robin: only ONE poneglyph in the world records the “true history”; 20-year search

Earliest on-page articulation of Robin’s lifelong true-history quest. She distinguishes ordinary kingdom-history poneglyphs (which may also encode Ancient-Weapon data, as the Alabasta stone did) from the single poneglyph that recounts the true history — the concept later canonized as the Rio Poneglyph. “It doesn’t matter. For 20 years… I’ve been searching for it… this was my last hope. But it wasn’t the one.” Pre-loads the Ohara/Olvia backstory (Ch. 391+) and her Enies-Lobby “I want to live” reversal. Ch. 395 — ⭐⭐ The Ohara genocide depicted: Clover executed, the first DEPICTED Buster Call, the Tree of Knowledge ablaze

The backstory this thread has built toward is finally SHOWN. After Clover deduces the suppressed kingdom (see Void Century and Ancient Kingdom), Spandine has him shot — “Ohara has… learned too much” (p. 9) — declares “Don’t leave a single soul alive!” and triggers the Buster Call “with the golden Transponder Snail entrusted to me by Admiral Sengoku” (pp. 10–11). The Tree of Knowledge catches fire and the fleet commences simultaneous bombardment (“Target all of Ohara, the island of archaeology!!”, pp. 12, 19). Interwoven: Olvia returns and meets Robin but denies being her mother to protect her (pp. 14–18). The on-page origin scene of the persecution the arc keeps restating; Robin’s lone-survivor status (@0374) gets its source. (The full destruction / Robin’s escape with Saul remains forward-canon.)
