Chapter 1059: The Matter Involving Captain Koby

Summary

A post-Wano transition chapter that pivots away from the Straw Hats and onto the wider world. Near Sphinx — Whitebeard’s New World hometown — Marco parts from the Straw Hats to go home, thanking Luffy and Jinbe for saving him at Marineford (p.2–5). A Wano flashback shows Yamato declining to join the crew, choosing instead to stay and guard Wano (p.2–3). The bulk of the chapter is told from Amazon Lily on the Calm Belt: “weeks earlier,” the Navy — led by Koby, Helmeppo and Vice Admiral Yamakaji — sieges the island to take Boa Hancock into custody, fielding the new Seraphim Pacifistas (one a Lunarian-bodied little girl who looks exactly like a young Hancock). The Blackbeard Pirates then crash the siege to seize Hancock’s Mero Mero no Mi; Blackbeard nullifies her petrification with Black Hole, but she warns the next wielder of the fruit cannot undo the spell, so killing her would leave his crew stone forever. Silvers Rayleigh arrives, mediates, and forces a stand-down. In the “present day” aftermath, Shakky — revealed as a former Empress of Amazon Lily and Kuja captain — recounts the attack, and a Navy report closes the chapter: Captain Koby has been kidnapped by the Blackbeard Pirates, status unknown.
