Structural lore — a named but (in-window) unexplained cargo/substance shipped by tanker from Dressrosa.

What we know

• Ch. 672: first NAMED on-page — Vergo states he “heard an S.A.D. tanker was leaving port” in Dress-rosa and hitched a ride on it to Punk Hazard (p. 3).
• Ch. 672: the only on-page facts — (1) “S.A.D.” is shipped by tanker, (2) it runs out of Dressrosa, (3) it connects Joker’s home base to Caesar’s lab.
• Ch. 681: the substance has a dedicated, high-security “S.A.D. manufacturing room” inside Caesar’s Punk Hazard facility. A facility emergency broadcast reports that Law has infiltrated the S.A.D. manufacturing room (p. 18).
• Ch. 681: the room is the operation’s most sensitive asset — Vergo reasons Law “likely became one of the Seven Warlords… just to get into that room,” and faked the Straw Hat alliance “to keep us busy,” meaning S.A.D. is valuable enough to justify Law’s entire Warlord ruse (pp. 18–19). Reaching it is framed as the trigger for Law to “unleash hell on the New World” — tying S.A.D. to the larger New-World power structure (p. 19).
• Ch. 683: the “S.A.D. Manufacturing Room, Structure D” is named via location caption (p. 14) as the site where Law and Vergo fight — confirming the room is central to Caesar’s operation. What is manufactured there is still not revealed on-page as of this chapter.
• Ch. 682: Law breaches and destroys the S.A.D. manufacturing room (Structure D; tank “SAD 8599”) in an explosion (pp. 2, 7-9). Joker confirms Caesar is “the only man in the world who knows how to manufacture S.A.D.” (p. 9) — so kidnapping Caesar would “spread misfortune”; this monopoly is the linchpin of Joker’s underworld supply chain. • Ch. 685: the S.A.D. Manufacturing Room re-appears on the facility map of Caesar’s lab (p. 15) as Kin’emon, Usopp and Brook search the structures for Sea-Prism-Stone shackles; what it produces is still withheld, sitting alongside the lab’s Artificial Devil Fruit research.
• Ch. 689: what S.A.D. is FOR is named on-page — Caesar states he is the only one who can manufacture S.A.D., which is shipped to Doflamingo’s factory and turned into the man-made Zoan fruit SMILE (pp. 15-16). “Law’s after the S.A.D.!!” — Law’s objective is the S.A.D. manufacturing capacity (p. 15). • Ch. 691: Law has destroyed the S.A.D. Manufacturing Room (Structure D) and a giant “SAD”-labeled tank ruptures (p. 8) — the on-page payload of the secret agenda Law concealed even from Joker, the decisive strike against Joker’s supply chain.
• Ch. 690: the chapter’s namesake. A labeled S.A.D. tank and the S.A.D. Manufacturing Room (Structure D) are shown in Caesar’s lab (p. 8) as the site of the Smoker–Vergo fight. Law treats destroying all of it as the decisive strike against Joker — by Den Den Mushi he gloats “you’ve lost all your S.A.D.!! …your most vital pawn” and “now I’ve destroyed the gears!! • Ch. 698: the science behind S.A.D. is named on-page — captive Caesar reveals (pp. 16–17) that the substance he produces (the foundation of SMILE) is “just an application of Bloodline Elements, which were first discovered by Vegapunk.” First on-page naming of the underlying science; ties S.A.D. → SMILE back to Vegapunk’s foundational research.
