Firsts
  • Vegapunk attached a 'total shutdown switch' (not a self-destruct switch) to Kuma — he should be in a total vegetative state, yet he sprang to life
  • Kuma — a will-less slave/Pacifista — punched St. Jaygarcia Saturn, one of the Five Elders, flat ('a historical atrocity')
  • Bonney relived ALL of Kuma's memories; she thanks him: 'Thank you, Daddy'
  • Saturn's body regenerates after being crushed — he calls it 'a flaw in the human form, an error in the programming'
  • A full Buster Call is activated to burn Egghead to the ground

Summary

Kuma’s life-memory montage closes — his Buccaneer-slave childhood (“your mother’s dead, son… slavery or death… are your only options”), Bonney’s birth, and Ginny’s deathbed farewell (“I’m sorry, Kumachi… I’m so happy”). In the present at Egghead, the will-less Kuma — who, per Vegapunk’s “total shutdown switch,” should be a vegetative weapon — springs to life and punches St. Jaygarcia Saturn clean out, a slave striking “the man at the pinnacle of the world.” Bonney, having relived all of his memories, embraces him: “Thank you, Daddy.” Vegapunk credits “the power of love.” Saturn’s crushed body then regenerates (“a flaw in the human form”), he coldly dismisses Vegapunk and Kizaru as having no further use, and orders the operation ended. Kizaru beams Kuma; Franky and the satellites intervene; Atlas carries the now-immobile Kuma toward the Labophase. Saturn declares Egghead a threat to the World Government and activates the Buster Call — “Burn it to the ground in the name of justice!!! …this island is full of inconvenient people who must be eradicated.”
