Summary

Vegapunk’s pre-recorded final message reaches its visual broadcast. Flashback fragments at Punk Records show the living Stella recording the message, musing on mortality (“What is death, exactly…? Where do our ideas truly reside?”) and on a future in which video “will one day connect the entire world” — bringing both “knowing… and the discomfort of being known.” He explains the contingency: he programmed the message to broadcast when his heart stops beating, so it airs “whether I am arrested or executed” — “you all have the right to know.” A worldwide montage shows the feed reaching Syrup Village (Kaya and the grown Usopp Pirates), Twin Capes (Crocus and Laboon), Future Land Baldimore (Vegapunk’s home — the “Nightmare of Baldimore” recalled), Birdie Kingdom, Pirate Island Fullalead, Sabaody Archipelago, and Egghead. The Five Elders scramble to kill the signal — stomping transponder snails, deducing it is “a one-sided hijack of the waves” they cannot trace (“too many transponder snails in the lab… no unique signals”) — and consider destroying the power plant, but refuse because “no one will be able to create the Mother Flame anymore.” They taunt York (“Think, York, or you won’t get to be a Celestial Dragon!!”) and fear Vegapunk means to “avenge Ohara’s loss” rather than “go out like Clover.” On the ground, Bonney fights Saturn with new named techniques — “Distorted Future” and “Giant-like Future,” ballooning into an imagined giant self — while Franky, Sanji, Oimo & Kashii (restraining a Gorosei beast), Atlas, Lilith and Nami (“Protect Robin!!”) defend; the Gorosei mark Robin (“the woman Akainu let slip… Nico Robin”), and she recognizes their voices (“The Five Elders?!”). The broadcast presses on: Vegapunk opens “I have committed two sins,” declines to label anyone good or evil, warns what he is about to say “is so preposterous you might burst into laughter” — then delivers the headline: “The world as we know it… will sink into the sea!!” Cliffhanger.

New reveals

• The broadcast is a dead-man’s switch by design. In the Punk Records recording the Stella says “…when my heart stops beating, I shall program this message to be broadcast… therefore, whether I am arrested or executed… you all have the right to know” (pp. 13, 17). It airs because he is already dead.
• Vegapunk’s recorded thesis on video + mortality. “What is death, exactly…? Where do our ideas truly reside?” and “Video will one day connect the entire world… it will mean knowing… and the discomfort of being known” (pp. 4–5) — his ideas “live on, even after your death.”
• The signal can’t be stopped. It is “a one-sided hijack of the waves”; the Gorosei can’t find the source because “there are too many transponder snails in the lab” with “no unique signals” — even the satellites mock the futility (“I’m Vegapunk too!! Where would I hide it?!”) (pp. 8, 17).
• Mother Flame is irreplaceable. “What happens if we destroy the power plant?” — “Don’t. We can afford the loss of all the ships and sailors… but no one will be able to create the Mother Flame anymore!!” (p. 18). The plant on Egghead is the sole Mother-Flame production site.
• “I have committed two sins.” Vegapunk opens his confession (p. 12) and frames the address: he “will not apply the labels of good and evil at all” and warns it is “so preposterous you might burst into laughter” (pp. 15, 17). The two sins themselves stay un-detailed here.
• THE WARNING: “To make a long story short… the world as we know it… will sink into the sea!!” (pp. 18–19).
• Bonney’s named techniques: “Distorted Future!!” and “Giant-like Future!!” — she imagines and embodies a giant future-self to strike Saturn (p. 13). (Fruit still un-named on-page.)
• Oimo & Kashii on Egghead. The two giants (ex-Enies Lobby gatekeepers, Giant Warrior Pirates) are present, pinning a Gorosei beast: “Hold it down, Oimo!!” — “You got it, Kashii!!” (p. 12).
